Multiplayer: Launch Maps

Modern Warfare 4 launches with 12 Core 6v6 maps (plus Shipment arriving shortly after launch on October 27), three large-scale 32v32 Ground War maps, four 2v2 Gunfight maps, and the modular battleground, Kill Block, supporting 3v3 and 10v10 Gunfight.

Here’s a look at all of the maps, including Tac-Map displays for each of the Core 6v6 and Ground War 32v32 maps:

Core 6v6 Maps

Cachette

Launch Map · 6v6

On the outskirts of a French rail terminal, an abandoned wine warehouse and derelict mechanic’s garage have been converted into a covert armory.

Deep within a rural Mexican state beneath the Sierra Mountains, Corporación Mexicana de Litio’s Lithium processing refinery has come under attack, transforming the site into an active combat zone.

Lotus

A South Korean fishing village in the aftermath of an amphibious assault, its market, hostel, boathouse, gardens, and residential blocks left scarred by the fight to reclaim it.

Mumbai

Launch Map · 6v6

A fugitive’s hideout hidden inside a dense residential district centered around a Victorian market, with a rail line cutting through tightly packed residential blocks.

Munition

Launch Map · 6v6

An active North Korean command facility with a large munitions depot, monitoring rooms, a linked skybridge, crane, water tower, and multiple hangars.

Nautical

Launch Map · 6v6

At dawn, a South Korean ferry pulls away from a major conflict zone as debris litters the decks and fires burn across the starboard side and bow.

Reactor U92

Launch Map · 6v6

A South Korean reactor complex has gone nuclear. Electrical damage arcs across the large concave command room, while the boiling containment pool appears to be the epicenter of a massive meltdown.

Rooftops

Launch Map · 6v6

The snow-lined rooftops of New York’s “Hotel Times West” create combat opportunities across a rooftop greenhouse, HVAC platforms, boiler room, patio, skylights, pigeon coop, and laundry room.

Sentry

Launch Map · 6v6

An assault on a Russian military base under whiteout conditions sparks firefights across the maintenance garage, generator room, and substation surrounding a central command center and partly destroyed barracks.

Silkworm

Launch Map · 6v6

Infiltrate a dense, urban South Korean shopping district with alley access around perimeter apartments, as the action centers on a well-stocked convenience store, gaming den, and central subway entrance.

Transit 213

Launch Map · 6v6

An overgrown central parking lot in western India packed with brightly colored buses in various states of dereliction, flanked by a repair shop and small gas station and surrounded by construction projects and high-rise tenement blocks.

Shipment

Post-Launch Map · 6v6

Shipment returns! Arriving shortly after launch on October 27, the infamous small map is set on a Russian harbor, hemmed in between the water and the concrete panel buildings making up the urban landscape around it. The map itself is true to form with a classic layout and appearance that players will be right at home with, enhanced by Modern Warfare 4’s visual and gameplay improvements.

Ground War 32v32 Maps

Imjin Farmland

Launch Map · 32v32

Battle across the rural outskirts of Hajin, where open fields, waterways, scattered farms, and the large-scale mill combine with roads and rail lines to create a combat zone suited to long sightlines, vehicle maneuvering, and coordinated assaults on key strongholds.

Wolves Stadium

Launch Map · 32v32

Fight through the heart of Hajin in a dense urban environment centered on the Wolves Stadium. Multi-story buildings, transit lines, tunnels, rooftops, and surrounding hillsides create a highly versatile arena of battle where every route offers multiple ways to advance.

Forest

Launch Map · 32v32

Positioned between the Imjin Farmlands and Wolves Stadium, Forest challenges Operators to battle over and around a wooded hillside. A network of streets, off-road paths, and the southern train tracks provide room for vehicles to navigate the area, while points of interest like the guard tower at the top of the hill, the gas station, and the barracks mark key objective points that can be used to defend against unseen attackers behind the tree line.

Gunfight 2v2 Maps

Cafe

Launch Map · 2v2

Deploy to a scenic courtyard in Paris featuring a theater, magazine kiosk, and a central fountain that blocks views down the middle. Climb up to the statue on top for a better view or try your luck on the outer perimeter where there’s sparse cover but longer sightlines.

Library

Launch Map · 2v2

Disturb the peace in this wood paneled state library that packs tactical opportunities into a tight space. Watch for enemies lurking behind bookshelves and rushing through the center. Take the stairs to get up on the center walkway with views over both sides of the map.

NYC

Launch Map · 2v2

Pack warm for a wintry night in the thick of downtown. A large stage dominates the center surrounded by stands, equipment, and vendors. Weave between objects on the ground to flank enemies or climb up to one of the many scattered vantage points throughout.

Smuggler

Launch Map · 2v2

Take the fight to a rail yard where several train cars are parked on the tracks. Battle in, around, and on top of them with ladders giving access to the roof. For a closer fight, head into the warehouse on either side or move out to the ends where there’s more open space to move around.

Kill Block

Launch Map · 3v3 / 10v10

The Westbridge Training Facility — AKA Kill Block — is a modular Multiplayer battleground featuring reconfiguring combat layouts. Designed as a live-fire training environment, Kill Block reconfigures between rounds, forcing players to reassess sightlines, routes, and combat spaces. With more than 500 combinations, no two Kill Block deployments play out the same.

Some map sections are entirely new, while others draw inspiration from iconic locations across Modern Warfare history including Crash, Highrise, and Shoot House, appearing in randomized placements each match. Supports 3v3 and 10v10 Gunfight at launch.

Multiplayer: Launch Modes

Play over a dozen Multiplayer modes at launch, including a variety of Standard, Alternate, and Hardcore variants, plus a Mobility Course designed to help you master the Modern Warfare 4 movement system.

NOTE: Hardcore rules include a limited HUD, friendly fire, and reduced health with no regeneration.

The available game modes at launch include:

Respawn Modes

New Mode: Inflation

Standard Mode · Core · Hardcore

Match time: 10 Minutes · Score Limit: N/A · Party Size: 1-6

Eliminate enemies and collect their bounty of cash, but the more wealth you carry, the greater the target on your back. Players who reach the High Value Target threshold will have their position revealed to friends and foes alike, turning Inflation into a balance of hunting down enemy HVTs while protecting your own.

Eliminated players drop a portion of their cash, with an Overtime that activates in the final minutes setting up bigger cash multipliers for wild late game swings. The team with the most cash at the end wins.

New Mode: Hijack

Standard Mode · Core · Hardcore

Match time: 4 Minutes per Round · Score Limit: 300 · Party Size: 1-6

Teams fight for control of a single Data Spike that they can carry, throw, and pass to teammates on the way to the enemy Comm Station. Plant the Spike to score points over time and earn a bonus if the upload is completed, requiring a sustained defense of the area after planting to prevent the enemy from aborting the data transfer.

Teams swap sides between rounds and the Data Spike occasionally resets to the center when dropped and not picked up in time, when the spike is thrown out of bounds, or after a successful defuse.

Frontline

Standard Mode · Core

Match time: 10 Minutes · Score Limit: 100 · Party Size: 1-6

Push the line in this team-based respawn mode where players always deploy from their team’s base. Eliminate enemies to score, with eliminations earned outside of the base counting for more, encouraging teams to push forward and spread out through the map. Players gain a small window of invincibility after spawning and teams change sides once one team earns half of the max score limit. The first team to reach the score limit wins.

Team Deathmatch

Standard Mode · Core · Hardcore

Match time: 10 Minutes · Score Limit: 100 · Party Size: 1-6

Eliminate enemy players until the score limit is reached to win.

Domination

Standard Mode · Core · Hardcore

Match time: Unlimited · Score Limit: 200 · Party Size: 1-6

Capture, hold, and defend objectives to earn points. First team to the score limit wins.

Hardpoint

Standard Mode · Core · Hardcore

Match time: 5 Minutes · Score Limit: 250 · Party Size: 1-6

Capture the rotating Hardpoint and hold it against attack. The first team to reach the score limit wins.

Kill Confirmed

Standard Mode · Core · Hardcore

Match time: 10 Minutes · Score Limit: 75 · Party Size: 1-6

Recover dog tags to score for your team and deny enemy scores.

Free-For-All

Standard Mode · Core · Hardcore

Match time: 10 Minutes · Score Limit: 30 · Party Size: 1

Eliminate everyone. The first player to reach the score limit ends the game. The top three players win.

Round-Based Tactical Modes

New Mode: Collateral

Standard Mode · Core

Match time: 2 Minutes per Round · Score Limit: 6 · Party Size: 1-6

Start with a Pistol and $800 and earn extra cash to spend on better gear between rounds in this exciting new mode blending Search & Destroy mechanics with a Buy Phase system that lets players improve their loadouts as the match progresses. Teams alternate between attacking and defending two bomb sites, and the better you do, the more cash you’ll earn to spend during the pre-round Buy Phase. Get rewarded for planting and defusing bombs, eliminating players — with varying levels of payout for different kinds of kills — and winning the round.

There are no respawns and no custom loadouts. When you die, you lose your loadout and start over, but you keep the cash you’ve earned. The Buy Menu features the following options, including the ability for teams to pitch in for a UAV going into the next round:

  • Armor and Perks: Armor Vest, Battle Hardened, Lethal Reach, Fast Hands, Ghost
  • Equipment: Flash Grenade, Molotov Cocktail, Frag Grenade, Stim, Smoke Wall, Riot Shield
  • Pistols: Krait P68 Silenced Pistol, Mojave .357Revolver, Sang 9mm Akimbo Pistols, .50 GS Power Pistol
  • Standard Issue: Rezi 12 Shotgun, FiNN Light Machine Gun, Oris 8.6 Marksman Rifle, X-58 Nyx Silenced SMG, Wz. 55 Striga Agile SMG
  • Tier 1: MAR-9 Marksman Rifle, Kastov 762 High Damage Rifle, Hyeon Burst Assault Rifle, M4 Silenced Rifle, KG-7 Vulcan Sniper Rifle
  • Team Buy: UAV

When purchasing new weapons, drop some extra cash for an upgrade, adding the displayed attachments to the weapon to further improve its lethality.

Every dollar counts and every decision matters. The first team to take six rounds wins the match.

Search & Destroy

Standard Mode · Core · Hardcore

Match time: 2 Minutes per Round · Score Limit: 6 · Party Size: 1-6

The classic high-stakes, round-based tactical game mode where teams alternate between attacking and defending two bomb sites. There are no respawns here, turning every encounter into a high-tension fight. Win the round by planting or defusing the bomb, or alternately by eliminating the entire enemy team.

Planting and defusing the bomb leaves the acting Operator defenseless for several seconds, so bring backup and plan your objective plays accordingly. The first team to win six rounds wins the match.

Gunfight

Standard Mode · Core · 2v2 / 3v3 / 10v10

Match time: 50 Seconds per Round · Score Limit: 6 · Party Size: 2, 3 or 10

Eliminate the enemy or secure the Overtime Flag. All Operators begin each round with the same Loadout which changes every two rounds. The first side to reach the round limit wins the match.

Ground War

New Mode: Combat Outpost

Alternate Mode · Core

Match time: 20 Minutes · Score Limit: 1500 · Party Size: 4, 32v32

Combat Outpost reimagines Domination for Ground War, expanding the familiar three-flag battle into a large-scale conflict across a sprawling battleground. Capture Outposts to earn a steady stream of points while expanding your team's available spawn locations, allowing friendly forces to reinforce the front line and maintain pressure across the map.

The battle doesn't end once an Outpost is secured. Operators can reinforce captured positions to unlock increasingly powerful team rewards, from Local UAV coverage and a JLTV airdrop to a Light Tank delivered straight to your Headquarters. With Capture and Reinforce objectives often overlapping, Combat Outpost rewards teams who can seize territory, defend key positions, and leverage heavy ordinance.

Party Mode

Gun Game

Alternate Mode · Core

Match time: 10 Minutes · Score Limit: 15 · Party Size: 1

Eliminate players with your weapons to advance to the next weapon. First to eliminate with each weapon wins.

Proving Grounds

Launch

Master the Modern Warfare 4 movement system in the Proving Grounds, a dedicated training course that will guide you through movement Tutorials and timed Courses. Strive for an S Rating in every Course and take those skills into Multiplayer, turning you into a formidable force before you’ve even played your first match.

Pre-Season 1 Modes

Plus, look out for two extra Multiplayer modes arriving just in time for Halloween in the leadup to Season 1, including:

Possession (Pre-Season 1)

New Mode

Possess your victims, teleporting to their location and stealing their Loadout. For getting a taste of different playstyles, few modes outshine this one. Earn Weapon XP for a wide range of guns as you constantly shift between Loadouts, hopping to the next one whenever you eliminate an enemy target. The first team to reach the score limit wins.

Infected (Pre-Season 1)

Returning Mode

It’s Survivors vs. the Infected in this team-based party mode where one player is randomly assigned to the Infected team at the start of the match. Every time the Infected player eliminates a Survivor, that player joins the ranks of the Infected.

The Infected are all about speed and stealth, equipped with the FSS Carbon Edge Combat Knife, a Throwing Knife, and Ninja. Survivors carry heavier armaments like the Rezi 12 Shotgun with hot-loaded explosive slugs via the Enforcer Apex Attachment plus Trip Wire and a Concussion Grenade.

The final Survivor gets a health boost. Infect everyone or survive the game to win.
