While they are a gorgeous shade of red, the Crystalizing Pools around the Salt Mine offer little cover. It’s best to find a nearby salt pile or building for cover, lest your blood muddy the shimmering crimson pools.
Although the Ticket Hall has a beautiful ceiling, it’s also a potential hot spot, as action can spill in from the West and Main Platforms. If an engagement happens, use the information booth and the stairwell for cover.
The Superstore has multiple open shelves, both at ground level and above, which can make for some unique engagement opportunities. If you sense that an enemy is within the store, it doesn’t hurt to check every aisle, or use a tool that can give recon such as a UAV or Heartbeat Sensor.
If you are playing Plunder and need a place to bank some Cash that’s out of the way, there is a Cash Deposit Site within the dried-out river. While you may have to deal with snipers from the Summit, it’s pretty remote compared to one in more familiar locales or in a suburb, and nearby rocks and trees can offer some cover.
Your parachute is your best friend when taking the high ground in Downtown. Remember that you can pull the chute if you are taking a potentially fatal plunge, and parachuting through the city could be one of the fastest modes of transportation.
The incredibly massive runway could be an extremely deadly area; not taking cover behind the dolosse and whatever else is scattered on it might leave you open to enemies in the Terminal or Control Tower. In other words, it’s best to clear the runway.
The Train Station has numerous stairwells, such as from the West and East Platform buildings, in addition to Exterior Ascenders which allow for roof access. Know that flanks can come from all sides and consider setting up equipment traps here to cover your six.
The parking garage is deceptively complicated for an area. From military tents to ground items taking up parking spaces, it’s not a bad idea to explore every part of this lot or decide to land here against the more obvious Airport areas.
One of the secluded locales of Bloc 18 is the Camping Overlook, which has fantastic views of the Stadium and Karst River Bridge. Should your squad be roaming around the Northeast, consider stopping here and taking overwatch before advancing forward.
With only the deep ocean blue behind you, travelling around to the southwest end of the Prison’s foundation could be a safe way to infiltrate the complex via exterior ascender. If you are already on the yard, it’s not a bad idea to set up an equipment trap or two at this ascender’s landing.
