FRIDAY AUGUST 28

GAMEPLAY

Adjusted

» All Modes «

  • Underwater Adjustments

    • Reduced the total underwater breath duration by 25%.

    • Added 1.5 second delay to breath regen when coming back to the water surface.

We’ve been looking at how long players can remain underwater and found that the current duration was allowing underwater routes and escapes to last longer than intended. To make underwater traversal a more deliberate tactical choice, we’ve reduced overall breath duration and added a short delay before breath regeneration begins after resurfacing. This creates a greater commitment to underwater plays while providing clearer risk and reward tradeoffs.

» Resurgence «

  • Deep Gas Grace Distance Adjustment

    • The distance that is considered “deep gas” has been reduced by 30% in Resurgence.

The previous deep gas grace distance was giving players more room than intended to operate around the gas boundary in small maps, particularly when rotating or playing the edge of the circle. By reducing this distance, the gas boundary will more closely align with player expectations and create clearer risk versus reward decisions when choosing to play close to the gas.
  • Spawn Protection Icon

    • Added an icon for redeployed players that indicates when Spawn Protection is active.

We’ve added a visual indicator for Spawn Protection after redeploying. The icon remains visible while protection is active and disappears when it expires, providing clear feedback on protection status. This icon appears in the same HUD location as looted Perks.
  • Biometric Scanner Adjustment

    • Adjusted the Biometric Scanner's interaction radius and angle to reduce unintended interactions during looting.

KILLSTREAKS

Adjusted

» All Modes «

  • Damage to Vehicle Adjustment

    • Increase damage from RC-XD and Sniper Drone.

    • Reduce damage from Death Machine and War Machine.

We’re adjusting how different killstreaks interact with vehicles to better align each tool with its intended role. The goal is to create clearer tradeoffs between equipment choices when engaging vehicles.

» Battle Royale & Resurgence «

  • Precision Airstrike and Napalm Strike Warning Improvements

    • Improved Precision Airstrike and Napalm Strike warning notifications by expanding their coverage to better align with the killstreak's area of effect.

    • Adjusted the killstreak notification range to better align with the impacted area.

We’re adjusting the warning area to better match the actual impact zone, giving players clearer information and a more reliable opportunity to react when a strike is incoming.

» Battle Royale «

  • Killstreak Adjustment

    • Increased UAV radius by 15% on Avalon.

    • Increased CUAV radius by 11% on Avalon.

We’re increasing the area of these two killstreak to better match the size and pacing of Battle Royale on Avalon.

EQUIPMENT

Adjusted

» Battle Royale & Resurgence «

  • Deployed Equipment Pickup

    • Attempting to pickup a deployed equipment while the equipment slot is full will now display a warning message and prevent the player from picking up the deployed equipment rather than having the deployed equipment deleted.

We identified an issue where attempting to pick up deployed equipment, such as a Claymore, with a full inventory could unintentionally remove the item. We’ve added a warning and now block the pickup action when no inventory space is available, preventing accidental equipment loss.

PUBLIC EVENTS

Adjusted

» Battle Royale & Resurgence «

  • Juggernaut Frequency

    • Juggernaut Public Event frequency in Resurgence has been reduced from 23% to 9%.

    • Juggernaut Public Event frequency in Battle Royale has been reduced from 25% to 11%.

Juggernaut events were appearing more frequently than we’d like, which could cause matches to become overly influenced by a single high-impact public event. We’re lowering their frequency to keep these moments feeling more special while giving the rest of the match’s loot, rotations, and engagements more room to develop naturally.
  • Classified Weapon Frequency

    • Classified Weapon frequency in Resurgence has been reduced from 19%  to 11%.

    • Classified Weapon frequency in Battle Royale has been reduced from 22% to 13%.

Classified Weapon events were appearing more often than intended. We’re reducing their frequency to preserve their rarity and excitement while limiting their impact on the overall match economy.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed an issue where the Missile Launcher vehicle could become stuck after landing, preventing it from moving properly.

  • Fixed an issue where players could immediately destroy the Champion's Quest Chopper with a Thermite.

  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to access unintended areas of the map by falling through certain geometry.

PLAYLIST

GENERAL

Adjusted

  • Black Ops Royale XP Rates
    • Player XP earn rate decreased by 28%.
    • Weapon XP earn rate decreased by 24%.
We have been monitoring XP earn rates in Black Ops Royale since its launch. While XP has naturally trended above target due to additional features like Zombies and Activities, we’ve recently seen a further increase in both Player and Weapon XP earned within the mode. Our goal is to ensure that every mode remains a viable way to level up without creating a situation where players feel they need to play a specific mode simply because it offers the most efficient progression. To better align Black Ops Royale with other experiences, we will be reducing Player and Weapon XP earn rates by the amounts listed above.

RANKED PLAY

  • Call of Duty: Warzone Ranked Series In-Season
    • Compete in the Season 05 Reloaded Call of Duty: Warzone Ranked Play Event, featuring 50-player leaderboards with Emblem and Weapon Camo rewards for top placements across all Ranks. Secure Ranked Play wins to earn additional rewards including a new Weapon Charm and Large Decal.

GAMEPLAY

New

» Battle Royale & Resurgence «

  • Special Delivery Drone
    • Stay sharp as a new type of supply drone enters the Warzone.
    • Identify and shoot down these drones for an opportunity to capture a unique Camo Case.
    • Secure the Camo Case by holding it for a short period to permanently unlock the associated Weapon Camo.
      • Camo Case holders are marked on the Tac Map for all players.
      • Camo Cases can be stolen by anyone if dropped.
    • Two Weapon Camos are available:
      • Battle Royale: “Heavy Metal” Weapon Camo
      • Resurgence: “War Machine” Weapon Camo

» Resurgence «

  • Quickdrop Kit
    • Earned by completing a Most Wanted Contract in Resurgence.
      • Pick up the kit from the crate that drops following Contract completion.
    • Permanently reduces the Resurgence countdown for the entire squad by up to 45%.
      • First Kit: 15%
      • Second Kit: 30%
      • Third Kit: 45% (Max)
Most Wanted has always had a debatable role in the early stages of Resurgence matches, as it provided a similar advantage to the mode’s core mechanic. With the introduction of the Quickdrop Kit, completing the Contract becomes much more valuable early in a match.

Adjusted

» Battle Royale & Resurgence «

  • Redeploy Location
    • When a teammate buys a player back, the redeploying player is now more likely to respawn near the teammate who purchased the buyback, provided they are in a safe and valid location.
Previously, players bought back by a teammate could sometimes be assigned a random teammate as their respawn target. We found this could feel confusing and inconsistent, so we’ve added logic to first check whether the teammate who purchased the buyback is in a valid location. If they are, they will be prioritized as the respawn target. We’ll continue to monitor this behavior, but we believe this should create a more predictable and consistent redeploy experience.

FIELD UPGRADES

Adjusted

» Battle Royale «

  • Echo Unit Quality of Life
    • Deployed Echo Units can now be reclaimed.
We’re always looking for opportunities to make our systems behave more consistently with player expectations. The Echo Unit was a natural addition to our Reclaim System, giving players the ability to pick up and reposition the deployed Field Upgrade when they want to move it to a more advantageous location.

PERKS

Adjusted

  • Survivor Perk
    • Survivor now blocks the burning effect of Incendiary Rounds.
Previously, there was an unintended interaction between Survivor and Incendiary Rounds that allowed the burning effect to bypass the one-shot protection provided by the Survivor Perk. Since players expect Survivor to provide reliable protection in these situations, we’ve made the Perk immune to the burning effect of Incendiary Rounds. We’ll continue monitoring this interaction to ensure the system is behaving as intended.

EQUIPMENT

Adjusted

» Battle Royale & Resurgence «

  • Grappling Hooks
    • Grappling Hooks have been removed from standard Battle Royale and Resurgence.
We know many players enjoy the movement and outplay potential Grappling Hooks provide. However, we’ve also heard consistent concerns that their mobility makes positioning less meaningful, enables low-risk escapes and pushes, and reduces the value of map knowledge and strong defensive positions. We’ve already reduced their speed and momentum, and we believe further reductions would hinder Grappling Hooks too much. Instead, we’re happy to have introduced a core element of Black Ops into Warzone for a period of time and believe removing them now will allow rotations and positioning to carry more weight in engagements once again. Grappling Hooks remain available in Black Ops Royale and select upcoming LTMs.
  • Stim
    • Stims are no longer interrupted when the player takes 1 point of damage.
We wanted to make Stims feel more reliable in situations where players are taking very small amounts of damage. Previously, even a single point of damage could interrupt the Stim animation, which could make the item feel inconsistent and overly punishing. This change allows players to complete their Stim when taking minimal chip damage while still preserving the intended risk of healing during combat.

PUBLIC EVENTS

Adjusted

  • Juggernaut
    • Added a minimum distance of 240 meters between incoming Juggernaut crates.
    • Sticking a Juggernaut with a Semtex now deals damage equal to 20% of their health.
    • Explosive damage against Juggernauts increased by 30%.
We want Juggernauts to remain powerful while giving players more reliable ways to fight back. These changes should reduce situations where multiple Juggernauts appear too close together, while the Semtex and explosive damage adjustments give players stronger options for dealing with them. Thank you for continuing to share your feedback.

WEAPONS

New Weapons

  • Mace Melee (In-Season)

    • Swing at enemies with a massive two-handed Mace offering a long lunge distance with a slower downtime between swings. Take aim and crush your foes.

    • Unlockable via Weekly Challenge Reward.

New Attachments

  • RK-9 Calibrated Strike System (In-Season)

    • Calibrated barrel paired with specialized bloom rounds that expand mid-flight and deal maximum damage when fired within a specific range. Includes an indicator to prompt the user when they are within that ideal range.

    • Unlockable via Weekly Challenge Reward.

  • Peacekeeper MK1 Gauss Accelerator (In-Season)

    • Heavy metal projectiles are accelerated to lethal velocity through a series of electromagnetic coils. Silently fires two projectiles at once with improved ballistics but harms overall handling and mobility.

    • Unlockable via Weekly Challenge Reward.

Weapon Adjustments

We recognize that the MXR-17 remained at the forefront of the meta for longer than we would have liked. While other competitive options existed, its combination of power and ease of use made it the standout choice for many players.

With these changes, we’re looking to shake up the long-range meta and give other weapons more room to compete. Alongside the MXR-17 adjustments, we’re buffing the AN-94, MK35, and other ARs to create stronger and more competitive options for long-range engagements.

For close range, we’re generally happy with the current balance and variety across the SMG category. The CBRS has pulled slightly ahead of the pack, so we’re making a small adjustment to bring it back in line and create even more room for competition.
