Call of Duty: Warzone Season 03 Reloaded Patch Notes

  • WZ
  • Patch Notes
  • Season 03

WEDNESDAY APRIL 29

GLOBAL

RICOCHET ANTI-CHEAT

We’re continuing to strengthen our anti-cheat systems to better protect players and ensure fair matches across all platforms. These changes do not apply until Season 04, at which point you can expect the following:

New Security Requirement: Microsoft Azure Attestation (MAA)

Microsoft Azure Attestation (MAA) will be required on PC to access most playlists. This system will help us verify that your PC environment hasn’t been tampered with, which is a key step in preventing cheating.

What This Means for PC Players

Players whose systems aren't compliant will see a message alerting them that Failed Attestation Status was applied and matchmaking will be adjusted.

Those attempting to play with others who have failed attestation will see a message that Failed Attestation Status is applied because one or more party members did not meet secure attestation requirements.

To be fully compliant, your system will need:

  • TPM (Trusted Platform Module) enabled
  • Secure Boot enabled

These are Windows security features that help verify your system is running in a trusted state. If you need help updating your settings, read our Player Support page (LINK).

If Attestation Fails

Players without these features enabled will be placed into limited matchmaking.

If you are placed into a limited matchmaking pool you will be:

  • Unable to match with players whose systems meet our requirements
  • Unable to match with console players

Playlists Impact

This enforcement will apply to all playlists, except (no MAA required):

  • Nuketown 24/7
  • Battle Royale Casual

Why This Matters

These updates are designed to:

  • Fully realize the security benefits of using Microsoft Azure Attestation
  • Remove high-risk players from the general player pool

CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE

MAPS

New

  • Battle Royale Casual Map Rotation (In-Season)
    • Big Map rotation will be introduced during Season 03, featuring both Avalon and Verdansk.
    • Maps will rotate on a 10-minute timer, similar to the existing Resurgence map rotation playlist.

MODES

New

  • Hot Pursuit Limited-Time Mode
    • Summary:
      • A mode where Police hunt down Thieves in a fast-paced, vehicle-driven experience.
      • Uses Resurgence rules with increased vehicle spawn rates.
      • Players play as either Police or Thieves, with access to team-specific vehicles and abilities.
    • Police Gameplay:
      • Hunt down and track the Thieves.
      • Use vehicles (ATV, JLTV, Light Heli) with special abilities:
        • Radar pulse (sirens): reveals nearby Thieves on the mini-map.
        • Heli bonus: shows direction enemies are moving.
        • Wall vision: can see enemy vehicles through walls.
    • Thief Gameplay:
      • Evade the Police using speed and mobility.
      • Use vehicles (UTV, Dirt Bike) with escape tools:
        • UTV boost: go faster to outrun cops.
        • Dirt Bike abilities: temporary invisibility (Active Camo) + smoke for cover.
        • Loot tracking: both vehicles help find high-tier loot caches.
    • Map:
      • Avalon
    • Squad Sizes:
      • Solos, Quads
    • Player Count:
      • 100
Hot Pursuit takes over the Black Ops Royale playlist for Season 03 Reloaded as a throwback to its Blackout debut back in 2019. Inspired by the original fast-paced, cat & mouse experience, this Limited-Time Mode offers a modern take on vehicle-focused gameplay now on Avalon.

During this time, core Black Ops Royale modes will be temporarily rotated out to make room for Hot Pursuit. We plan on bringing the standard experience back in a future update, but for now, we’re keeping the playlist fresh by leaning into the spirit of variety.
  • Prop Hunt Royale Limited-Time Mode
    • Summary:
      • A round-based hide-and-seek mode where teams must win 3 out of 5 rounds to secure a victory.
      • Players alternate between Prop and Hunter roles each round.
      • Matches support up to 24 players per team.
    • Map:
      • Rebirth Island Winter Variant
    • Player Count:
      • 48 (2 teams of 24)

PLAYLIST

For information about upcoming Playlists, please check out the dedicated Warzone Trello Board.

GENERAL

New

  • Personal Best System
    • Players can now track and challenge their highest individual performance records across matches.
    • Personal best metrics are now displayed in the Victory and Defeat screens:
      • Damage
      • Kills
      • Elimination/Death Ratio (E/D)
    • Tracks both all-time personal bests and weekly records.

RANKED PLAY

New

  • Call of Duty: Warzone Ranked Series
    • Compete in the second season of the Call of Duty: Warzone Ranked Play Event, featuring 50-player leaderboards with Emblem and Weapon Camo rewards for top placements across all Ranks. Secure Ranked Play wins to earn additional rewards including a new Weapon Charm and Large Decal.
    • These Event Camos are distinct from the Multiplayer Ranked Event Camos and are earned in addition to the Weapon Camos unlocked during normal Ranked Play.

Adjusted

  • Restrictions
    • Added the following items to the list of restricted items:
      • Spikes
      • Hades LMG-SMG Conversion Kit
      • XR-3 Ion Sniper Rifle

GAMEPLAY

New

» Battle Royale & Resurgence «

  • Spikes
    • High-powered perks that are now available exclusively through Buy Stations.
    • Each match will feature a random selection of 2 out of 3 available Spikes at every Buy Station.
    • Each Spike has a purchase limit of 2 per Buy Station.
    • Players may equip multiple Spikes; however, all held Spikes are lost upon death.
    • Available Spikes:
      • Armor Salvaging
        • Eliminations immediately grant 1 equipped armor plate.
      • Handicraft
        • Equipment regenerates over time.
      • Prone Firing
        • Greatly reduces recoil while prone.
        • Slightly reduces recoil while crouched.

LOOT & ECONOMY

Adjusted

» Black Ops Royale «

  • Backpack Default Category
    • Opening the Backpack will now default to the Perks category.

  • Weapon Upgrade Kit Rewards
    • Completing Executions and Bounty Contracts now rewards a Weapon Upgrade Kit.

» Battle Royale «

  • Supply Box Duplicate Prevention
    • Supply Boxes will no longer drop duplicate equipment types:
      • Maximum of 1 Field Upgrade
      • Maximum of 1 Lethal
      • Maximum of 1 Tactical

  • Equipment Drop Rate Balancing
    • Adjusted drop rates to better reflect commonly used and preferred equipment.
    • Increased drop rate for:
      • Molotov
    • Decreased drop rate for:
      • Deployable Cover
      • Phantom Signal
      • Needle Drone
      • C4

» Battle Royale & Resurgence «

  • Equipment Rotation
    • Frag Grenade
      • Replaced with Cluster Grenade.
    • Shock Stick
      • Replaced with EMP Grenade.
    • Pinpoint Grenade
      • Replaced with Sensor Dart.

  • Perk Pool Updates
    • Legendary Chests
      • Drill Instructor
      • Berserker
      • Ghost
      • Irradiated
    • Contract Rewards
      • Sprinter
      • Adaptive
      • Ghost
      • Irradiated

  • Buy Station Updates
    • Added
      • Spikes
      • Removed
      • Counter UAV (CUAV)
      • Grappling Hook

  • Final Circle Behavior
    • Items exposed to the gas zone will now be disabled immediately once Buy Stations shut down in the final circle.
This update to the final circle is intended to discourage players from remaining deep in the gas to utilize equipment, Field Upgrades, or Ammo Depots. The goal is to reinforce engagements within the intended safe zone. Additional changes are in development to address edge cases where players avoid combat by chaining Stims or repeatedly resupplying via Munitions Boxes in the gas, resulting in unintended endgame scenarios.

PUBLIC EVENTS

New

» Resurgence «

  • Classified Weapon
    • Added to Resurgence playlists.
We’ve been pleased with the performance of the Classified Weapon in Battle Royale and are excited to bring it to Resurgence. As part of this addition, tuning adjustments have been made to better align with Resurgence’s faster pace and tighter engagements, while preserving the weapon’s unique identity.

CONTRACTS

Adjusted

» Battle Royale & Resurgence «

  • Contract & Gas Circle Interaction
    • Contracts will no longer disappear immediately when entering the gas.

  • Supply Run
    • Cash reward significantly reduced.
    • Added to Haven’s Hollow.
Supply Run is intended to provide a more affordable path to regain and progression, rather than serve as a primary source of cash. Certain strategies, such as vehicle usage, made the contract too easy to complete. This adjustment better aligns it with its intended role. Additional updates are planned to further define its identity.
  • Most Wanted
    • Updated kill reward behavior in Casual Resurgence:
    • Eliminations now reduce the timer by 15 seconds (down from 30 seconds).

EQUIPMENT

General

» Battle Royale & Resurgence «

  • EMP Grenade
    • Added to Battle Royale and Resurgence.
    • Destroys equipment and disables many Field Upgrades and Killstreaks.

  • Cluster Grenade
    • Added to Battle Royale and Resurgence.
    • Detonates on impact, followed by multiple secondary explosions.

  • Sensor Dart
    • Added to Battle Royale and Resurgence with mode-specific tuning.
    • Maximum carry: 1
    • Duration: 7 seconds
    • Detection Radius: 35 meters

Adjusted

» Battle Royale & Resurgence «

  • Grappling Hook
    • Can now be used underwater in Battle Royale and Resurgence.

» Black Ops Royale «

  • Armor Satchel
    • Now grants 8 armor plates upon initial pickup.

  • Cymbal Monkey
    • Increased deployment animation speed.

KILLSTREAKS

Adjusted

  • Smoke Screen
    • No longer limited to 1 per Buy Station.
    • Smoke duration increased from 7 seconds to 12 seconds.
    • Number of deployed smokes increased from 5 to 9.
    • Improved deployment pattern to a more diagonal spread for increased coverage.
    • Reduced the number of Smoke Screen Killstreaks that can be active simultaneously on the map.
    • Reduced time before smoke impacts the ground.
    • Reduced delay between each smoke deployment for more consistent timing.
These changes are designed to position Smoke Screen as a more viable and impactful Killstreak. Improvements to consistency, deployment speed, and overall coverage should provide players with more reliable tools for creating cover and executing tactical plays.
  • Precision Airstrike
    • Increased the range at which the warning banner appears by approximately 40%.
Previous adjustments to Precision Airstrike deployment speed caused the warning banner to appear too late relative to impact. This change increases the warning distance to better align with its current behavior and provide clearer, more timely alerts to players.

WEAPONS

New Weapons

  • Siren Special (In-Season)

    • Charge energy weapon. Fires a high-damage, slow-moving projectile that passes through foes. Charge to improve projectile velocity.

    • Unlockable via RoboCop Event Pass.

    • Prestige Attachment: MFS Deflection Core

      • Fires a faster moving projectile that will ricochet off surfaces and enemies. Includes more ammo.

  • Katana Melee (In-Season)

    • Melee weapon. High damage, moderate range, and moderate attack speed.

    • Unlockable via Event: Call of Duty Endowment C.O.D.E. Navigator Challenge.

New Attachment

  • MK.78 Lightframe PDW Conversion

    • A drastic weight reduction allows for more mobile and aggressive usage while retaining much of its power at the expense of additional recoil and reduced damage range.

    • Unlockable via Weekly Challenge Reward.

  • Warden 308 Badlands Pistol Kit

    • Heavy pistol configuration that sacrifices some control and range for improved handling and mobility with strong firepower at close range. Supports akimbo and three additional Barrel Attachments.

      • The Barrel Attachments unlocked when using the Warden 308 Badlands Pistol Kit include the following:

        • 10” Spiral Barrel: Extended barrel for improved damage range and recoil control.

        • 6” Snub Nose Barrel: Lightweight barrel for improved handling. Removes the pre-fire delay for a faster fire rate but harms damage range.

        • 8” Admonish Barrel: Extends one-hit kill potential to neck and upper torso at max range. Increases headshot multiplier to allow one-shot eliminations at longer range. Harms handling and recoil control.

    • Unlockable via Weekly Challenge Reward.

  • Carbon 57 Fabricator Mag

    • State of the art magazine that automatically replenishes its own ammo by fabricating additional rounds as soon as you stop firing.

    • Unlockable via Weekly Challenge Reward.

  • Ryden 45K Apex Sweeper Rig

    • Rounds that break apart in flight dealing damage with each piece that connects. Converts the weapon to semi-auto.

    • Unlockable via Weekly Challenge Reward.
