CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE

RICOCHET ANTI-CHEAT

Input Detections

New detections target input-modifying devices that simulate machine-perfect aim and recoil control, removing advantages no human player can naturally achieve. These devices include the Cronus Zen and the XIM Matrix.

Ranked Play Requirements

When Multiplayer Ranked Play launches in Season 02, RICOCHET Anti-Cheat™ will require a stronger form of Remote Attestation for PC players, in partnership with Microsoft. This extra layer of protection sets a new standard for Ranked Play, building on our existing TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements.

If you’re a PC player and need more information about security requirements, click here.

Anti-Teaming Updates

We’re implementing additional measures to detect and address various forms of unfair player behavior, including:

  • Enemies suspiciously sharing cash currency (data gathering & in-game detection)
  • Botting behavior detection (data gathering only)
  • Anti-teaming behavior detection (data gathering & in-game detection)

Continuing our anti-teaming efforts from the previous chapter, players who team with enemy squads will be detected in-game. Repeated kills of the same enemy or enemy team will also be flagged by our system for analysis.

If players continue to engage in unfair behavior, an in-game message in Warzone Ranked Play will alert them that SR is being reduced to zero for an unfair kill. The team sees these measures as building blocks towards our goal to create a robust system that detects and prevents unfair player behavior. Players can expect ongoing, strong enforcement against teaming, including seasonal and permanent Ranked Play bans.

Anti-teaming detection consists of three components:

  • Data Gathering (combination of existing and new data gathering algorithms)
  • In-game detection (new)
  • SR penalties for severe or repeated behavior
    • Resulting in kills granting 0 SR and the activity being logged for the team to review

We’re implementing analytics-based detection for botting behavior. As part of our continued efforts to combat unfair play, new metrics will track bot usage and coordinated efforts to boost accounts via botting. This data will be used by the team to issue Ranked Plays bans where appropriate.

We’re also implementing new metrics to detect enemies sharing cash suspiciously. Players may see an in-game message reading “Cash owned by enemy team” when picking up cash that was suspiciously dropped by an enemy. This will only trigger when the game detects activity above a relatively strict suspicion threshold - the goal is for most players to not encounter this. We will continue to monitor feedback and data as these components go live.

Overall, recurring instances of the outlined behavior will be detected by the game, and the collected data will be used by our team to issue Ranked Play bans at a larger and more accurate scale. In the meantime, please continue to use our in-game reporting tool to flag bad actors and provide feedback via social media channels.

MAPS

Rebirth Island Winter Refresh

Our Rebirth Island update brings a fresh layer of intensity to the island with a new point of interest, environmental additions, and winter-themed gameplay updates - all while keeping the soul of Rebirth Island intact. Snowstorms closing in, infil gas explosions, and new or updated gameplay elements reshape familiar spaces, and The Guild has left its mark by reworking select locations.

  • Turbine New Point-of-Interest
    • The massive turbine now dominates the center of the POI, immediately changing how players approach mid-game rotations and engagements. Its strong verticality, multiple access points, and interior paths create layered combat scenarios, making it a powerful location to contest, control, and defend.

  • Outpost New Environmental Update
    • Located in the south, Outpost revitalizes a previously empty transition zone that often left players exposed. The addition of new structures and terrain creates safer rotation options while opening up fresh combat and looting opportunities. It strikes a balance between cover, space, and flow—giving players room to reset, gear up, and re-engage with confidence.

  • Biometric Scanner
    • We’ve refined the Biometric Scanner experience on Rebirth Island with rebalanced loot probabilities, clearer gameplay cues, and a cleaner, more readable interface. Scanner placement and visuals have been updated, rewards are now simpler and more tailored to the player, and unnecessary randomness has been removed - keeping the core experience intact while making it more consistent and rewarding.

  • Infil Gas Explosions
    • During the Infil, unexpected explosions may occur, generating deadly gas in select POIs. Be alert, as this can alter your strategy. Infil Gas Explosions are temporary—while some POIs may be inaccessible at match start if engulfed, they will become available once the gas dissipates.

  • Snowstorm Gas
    • Snowstorm Gas transforms the familiar Rebirth Island gas into a full winter hazard, exclusive to Winter Rebirth, while preserving all core gameplay rules and readability. Gas masks, decontamination stations, damage, and messaging behave exactly as players expect.

  • Smart Displays
    • Smart Displays can now be found in more locations across the map.
    • Smart Displays have been updated with new information, including:
      • When a Black EXE Card has been given
      • Top Scorer of the match
      • Player with the most Eliminations
      • POI with the highest player density

  • Cradle Fractures
    • [CLASSIFIED]

MODES

  • Loaded Resurgence Limited-Time Mode
    • Loaded Resurgence returns to Rebirth Island with a new twist. Players always redeploy with their Loadout, but Perks can now only be earned through eliminations. Rack up enough kills to unlock the Specialist Perk and gain a powerful advantage as the match progresses.
    • Map: Rebirth Island
    • Players: 44
    • Squad Size: Quads
    • Live Dates: Week 1 & 2

  • Loaded Resurgence Casual Limited-Time Mode
    • For players looking for a more accessible experience, a Casual version of Loaded Resurgence will also be available during Season 02.
    • Map: Rebirth Island
    • Players: 44
    • Squad Size: Quads
    • Live Dates: Week 3 & 4

  • Rush Resurgence Weekend-Only Limited-Time Mode
    • Rush Resurgence is a condensed, high-intensity version of Rebirth Resurgence designed for faster matches and constant action. With fewer players, reduced downtime between phases, and quicker gas circle movement, matches play out in roughly half the time of a standard Resurgence game.
    • Map: Rebirth Island
    • Players: 32
    • Squad Size: Quads
    • Live Dates: Week 3
  • Iron Gauntlet [Beta] New Mode
    • Launching as a Beta, Iron Gauntlet is a competitive-focused Battle Royale mode built as an evolution of Iron Trials. This mode is deliberately designed to raise the intensity by featuring accelerated circle collapse, rarer high-tier loot, increased player health, no free loadout drops, and no Gulag second chances. With fewer safety nets and higher consequences for mistakes, every engagement demands confidence and precision. As announced in our previous competitive blog, this mode will be made available during a limited window later in Season 02. We’ll share more details including mode settings and restrictions in the coming weeks as we draw closer to the planned live dates.
    • Map: Verdansk
    • Players: 150
    • Squad Size: Duos
    • Live Dates: March 5th - 9th
We made the decision to separate Iron Gauntlet from Ranked Play to give each experience the space it needs to thrive. By keeping Ranked Play more focused and stable, we’re able to support a clearer competitive avenue, while using Iron Gauntlet as a space to explore fresh ideas and push the boundaries of high-skill Battle Royale. When the mode goes live, we’ll be actively listening to your feedback and closely reviewing in-game data across all aspects of the mode including squad size, player count, pacing, weapon balance, time-to-kill, and overall match flow. Ultimately, our goal is to use Iron Gauntlet as a proving ground for ideas that help us navigate creative decisions as we seek out the most rewarding competitive Battle Royale experience possible. We’re excited to see how this first iteration of the mode is received, and to take in the feedback we need to adjust the mode for future seasons.

RANKED PLAY

Introduction

Rank up and prove your prowess as Ranked Play: Resurgence returns! This competitive game mode features skilled Trios dropping into Haven’s Hollow to prove their mettle: Compete in high-stakes, fast-paced matches built around a refined ruleset more in line with Black Ops 7’s Multiplayer Ranked Play, as you battle to increase your Skill Rating, earn exclusive rewards, and climb the Skill Divisions on your path toward the top.

This chapter we are focusing on a couple of specific targets for Ranked play:

A big element of our game ends up relying on matchmaking, and proper placement of players in their intended skill ranges. SR adjustments have been made to try and facilitate this, by making it a little bit easier for high-performing players to move up ranks as long as they are continually performing well. Additionally, slight rebalances to deployment fees have been made to clearly delineate the progression in gameplay difficulty between the pre-crimson, and crimson+ divisions. While the curve is steeper at the end, it has not changed overall, so those in Iridescent will not feel any negative impact from this.

Additionally, restrictions and weapons have been updated to the most recent BO7 set, creating a fresh new meta to be discovered; we are excited to see how these changes play out on Haven’s Hollow, and how the new map and its unique layout play with the combat offerings in the hands of our most intrepid players!

Ranked Play will launch later into the day following the rollout of the Season 02 update on February 5th, 2026. Keep an eye on social channels for more information.

Unlocking Ranked Play

In order to access this mode, players must place amongst the top squads in at least 20 matches to be eligible to queue up and begin climbing the ranks.

In this case, "Top Placement" is defined as finishing among the Top 6 teams in Resurgence or the Top 15 teams in Battle Royale, excluding boot camp and casual modes.

In addition to the above, Eliminations factor in the difference in skill between you and the victim. This more accurately rewards overcoming a high ranked player, and lessens the impact if the skill delta is too wide (via players being brought into a match with friends, or otherwise).

This skill delta bonus reward changes depending on if they are + / - 3 rank divisions from your own.

Ranked Play offers a variety of valuable rewards that can be earned exclusively through gameplay. These rewards let you showcase your skill across all game modes.

GENERAL

Gameplay

  • Pre-Match Utility Box Quality of Life

    • Added a Utility Box for players spawning during pre-match.

Win Streaks

  • Win Streak rewards have been updated for Season 02. As a reminder, the prior rewards for Season 01 are no longer obtainable.

      • 25 consecutive wins – Chroma Mire Animated Camo
    • Resurgence
      • 30 consecutive wins – Metallic Shade Static Camo
      • 50 consecutive wins – Stereogramic Animated Camo

Chroma Mire Animated Camo (Battle Royale)

Stereogramic Animated Camo (Resurgence)

KILLSTREAKS

General

  • Killstreak Call-In Restrictions
    • Restrictions now better reflect individual call-ins, reducing issues with multiple streaks being used at the same location.
    • Players should see “Airspace Crowded” less often. However, players will now see “At Your Active Limit” when attempting to immediately call in the same killstreak again.

New

  • Smoke Screen
    • A bombardment that deploys smoke in a line.

  • RC-XD Rebirth Island Only
    • The RC-XD is coming to Rebirth Island, bringing the familiar Multiplayer killstreak into Warzone with its core feel fully intact. It has been carefully adapted for Warzone’s scale, pacing, and circle pressure while preserving the same handling and skill expression, making the transition seamless for Multiplayer players.
    • The RC-XD can be found in the loot pool alongside other killstreaks, adding a high-impact, high-skill option to engagements.

Adjusted

The additional avenues of movement speed and survivability have created a space where some killstreaks have lessened their lethality. These changes are intended to increase the lethality of these killstreak so they can remain in step with other systemic changes.

  • Advanced UAV
    • Now requires 4 combined UAVs to activate a map-wide Advanced UAV.
Due to the vast amount of UAVs that are called match to match, especially when compared to other killstreaks, we are increasing the effort to activate the advanced UAV in this regard. We want the playspace to echo a more strategic approach to when and where a UAV should be used.
  • Cluster Strike
    • Missile travel time reduced, resulting in strikes now arrive 1.75 seconds faster.

  • Napalm Strike
    • Explosive damage increased from 150 to 300.
    • Explosion radius increased from 8m to 10m.
    • Individual bomb spread increased from 11m to 15m apart.
    • Fire patch damage now deals 100 damage per second while standing in fire.
    • Fire patch length increased from 30m to 40m.
    • Fire patch width increased from 6m to 8m.

  • Precision Airstrike
    • Attacks will strike the target location 1 second faster.

PERKS

New

  • Field Medic Previously Veteran
    • Improves reviving speed and resistance to equipment effects.
      • Revive others 25% faster.
      • Bleed-out duration increased by 25%.
      • When you revive another player, they automatically equip one Armor Plate and gain 5% Movement Speed for 3 seconds.
      • When you are revived, you automatically equip one Armor Plate and gain 5% Movement Speed for 3 seconds.
      • Resistant to Flash, Concussion, Gas, and Shock equipment effects.

  • Drill Instructor Previously Grenadier
    • Improves health regeneration while sprinting and enhances nearby ally movement.
      • After sprinting for more than 1 second, health regeneration begins.
      • You and allies within 25 meters gain 3% Movement Speed and 15% faster mantling.
      • This buff persists for 10 seconds after leaving the radius.
      • Drill Instructor effects do not stack with other Drill Instructors.

  • Surveyor Previously Cold-Blooded
    • Improves map awareness and reveals enemy activity.
      • When nearby enemies within 120 meters use a Buy Station or pick up a Contract, they briefly appear on the map.
      • UAVs you activate have a 20% larger radius, and your minimap is zoomed out by 20%.
      • Downed enemies are visually outlined through walls within a 40-meter radius.

Adjusted

  • Scavenger
    • Removed the cash component from the Scavenger Bag.
Scavenger has become a necessity due to the cash addition. In part to adjust the overall economy and its sources this was a necessary change. This change moves scavenger back towards its core identity but this component could make a return in the future.

LOOT & ECONOMY

Adjusted

  • Care Package
    • Added the Smoke Screen Killstreak to Care Package loot.

  • Loot Pool
    • Stim Shot replaces Smoke Grenade.
    • C4 replaces Claymore.
    • Decontamination Station replaces War Cry.

  • Updated Lootable Perks
    • Legendary Chests

    • Contract Rewards
      • Tracker
      • Alertness
      • Tempered
      • Reactive Armor

BUY STATIONS

Adjusted

  • UAV
    • The cost of UAVs at Buy Stations has been increased from $6,000 to $8,000.

  • Spawn Locations Battle Royale Only
    • Buy Station spawn locations have been re-randomized across the map to create more dynamic combat scenarios and rotation opportunities.
    • New Buy Station locations are as follows:

CONTRACTS

Adjusted

  • Redacted Contracts Rebirth Island Only
    • Redacted Contracts introduce a mystery-driven twist by allowing players to start a contract without knowing the objective. Contracts marked with a “?” can reveal a Bounty, Scavenger, or Recon objective, rewarding the standard payout plus bonus loot upon completion.
    • Chaining multiple Redacted Contracts increases rewards, encouraging players to lean into the mystery and maintain momentum.

  • Recon
    • Recon Contract cash payouts reduced as follows:
      • Solos: $4,000 to $2,000
      • Duos: $2,500 to $1,300
      • Trios: $2,000 to $1,000
      • Quads: $1,800 to $900
