Welcome to the all-new Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence map. Look around and take in the sights, and if you’re a Call of Duty veteran player you may notice the many connections to a fan-favorite Multiplayer map. Inspired by the rapid and unrelenting gameplay of Nuketown, this Resurgence map emanates the same energy, but on a much larger scale. The landscape has main roadways to traverse on foot and in vehicles, while other points of interest on the map are linked by open trenches of sand, pipework, and wiring.

Not a place to visit if you suffer from automatonophobia, a large-scale mannequin plant dominates the northern part of the map. A large compound comprised of two connected buildings, with the actual Assembly Unit on the west side and the Melting Unit on the east side. The only way to move from one unit to the other, while staying indoors, is to take one of the skybridges on the northern or southern end of the complex.

The Melting Unit exterior has plenty of opportunity for traversal on top of the building as well as a plethora of ways to enter the structure. Use the eastern terrain to gain direct access to the roof without any need to climb. It dips off to the north where the fight can be taken closer to the sand. However, from the roof the view to the Assembly Unit’s rooftop is clear and an elevated firefight is inevitable. Remember, you can escape directly into the building in a pinch or into the mannequin pit on the south side.

While not officially two full stories, the interior of the Melting Unit varies in elevation due to the large amount of melted mannequin plastic. Use this plastic along with the boxes and machinery to outmaneuver your opponents and become the deadly owner of the Melting Unit.

Watch out for other players dropping in from the outside via the skylights or one of the many other doorways or windows. If you need to escape, find a door or use one of the two skybridges and make your way to the other unit. Be sure to mind the gap in the Painting Area.

The Assembly Unit is the most northern part of Area 99. Surrounded by roads, expect a great deal of vehicles to be crashing the party at the Mannequin Assembly location, but this is also a great place to hide if action is low and the gas is clear at this location. The rooftop of the Assembly Unit is rather open, so don’t stay exposed too long while you’re up here. Keep close attention on the southwest end of the rooftop, because even though there are ascenders and ladders all around the building, the rooftop stairs are the most exposed and easiest to attack as a team. Defending these stairs from rushing players and snipers is paramount for your squad’s survival and success.

The Assembly Unit Interior is split up into two parts: the robotic assembly line and the shipping center. Use the divider that separates the unit as a main chokepoint for any other squads that may be in the area. Use your Loadout’s advantage and make them come to you. The conveyers add an extra layer of strategy as you jump, slide, and dive your way through the building. Hit those mid-air shots while getting to cover as fast as possible.

Aside from the three large mechanical roll-up doors, there are nine other entry points into the Assembly Unit, including two from the roof and four that likely weren’t meant for entry when the building was established. Covering all entry points into the building is impossible, but if you stay on the move and utilize the obstacles to survive, you’ll have a better chance at controlling this POI.

The Cooling Towers POI is the main pivot point for the northern half of Area 99. If you’re looking to move from Test Site to Mannequin Assembly to Nuketown Shipping or Reactor, the Cooling Towers are going to be smack dab in the center of this rotation. There are three Cooling Towers marked “1,” “2,” and “3” from North to South, respectively.

Tower 1 has enough cover and a great sightline toward the large open desert to the northern end of Area 99. This is a prime location for snipers, and anyone equipped with lethal Killstreaks. Both Towers 2 and 3 are in perfect position for holding down the exits from the Reactor POI toward the northwestern sector of the map. In an emergency remember to dive off the Cooling Towers into the deep trench directly off the western end of any of the three towers. The trenches will lead you all the way around and into the Reactor or to the north and into the Mannequin Assembly building. Both are sneaky paths if you’re not spotted on the way in.

Welcome to the Advanced Technologies and Applications Division Test Site. Generally, it’s dangerous to traverse a Test Site, but in dire circumstances, this POI is primed for Operator versus Operator action. You may recognize some similar obstacles and scenery in the test site proper, just don’t stay out of cover too long because the surface testing viewing station has a very clear line of sight into the open. This is just the surface.

Down into the bunker below the Test Site, a maze of hallways and rooms lead you to the War Room. A small map within itself is the location under the Test Site. Watch out for enemies plowing through this area and possibly around every corner. Use the obstacles to your advantage and don’t get trapped. Fight your way to an exit and get out there before the gas engulfs the area.

Use the many ladders and vertical ascenders to get in and out as you explore the underground. It’s easier to get trapped, so take your time and clear your corners, but stay swift.

The main source of experimental weaponry, the roof of the central reactor building acts as a bullseye for Operators dropping into the action. This main reactor tower — which has cracked open and has been slowly leaking for nearly 30 years — features more vertical gameplay both inside and out, with ascenders and gantry steps providing access in and out of the core chamber, adjacent computer banks, and curved corridors leading to the Turbines room and Hydro Pumps.

The Reactor proper is split up into three sections. The North Hall Hydro Pump curves from the main entrance on the north side all the way to the control center that looks directly into the Reactor room. This hall is not the only entry point from the north side to get into the Reactor POI, however it is the most direct. Try not sticking around too long. Either make your move or get into the Reactor to hold that down. If you’re escaping the reactor and using the Hydro Pump hall, keep an eye on the windows and check your corners.

In a mirrored layout to the North Hall, the East Hall Turbines is the most direct route into the Reactor, however one of the more dangerous. If you feel like you’re alone on this half of the POI, use this hall and get into the Reactor as fast as possible. Watch your back and check the windows. The East Hall is a bit more covered from the outside than the North Hall, however, be sure to keep your ears open as there may be approaching enemies below you in the tunnels.

The Reactor Room is a playground for opportunity, but it is also the very center of Area 99 which makes it one of the most dangerous positions on the entire map. The room itself is quite compact, however there are many ways to get in or out, so learning them is key to you and your squad’s survival. If you’re entering from the roof, you can enter the dome at the very top and utilize one of the vertical ascenders. These are also useful for moving to the roof and taking up a sniper position. Obviously, you can use one of the curved halls from the north or the east, as those are the main entrances into the Reactor. If you’re looking to get stealthy and make your way in or out without risking a squad wipe, consider traversing one of the two tunnels that travel under either of the main entrances.

Once you’re in the Reactor Room, your job is to loot all the precious goodies this room has to offer and either defend it or get out of dodge. Try not to step into the reactor fluid as it may be a bit dangerous; however, you may still want to peek to see if anything is down there. If worse comes to worse, drop off the side of the stairs and take some cover as enemy squads come rolling in.

The Thermal Energy Storage is the largest of the buildings that surround the Reactor, it is also marked with a large “1” on the roof. Use this to call the building out as you’re landing from a parachute drop. The interior is a great place to drop in and take some cover while gearing up. It’s a multi-level ground floor with seven different entrances and exits and plenty of room to maneuver in and out of. However, what may be more useful than any of the other buildings that surround the Reactor is the rooftop.

The rooftop of the Thermal Energy Storage is sloped and angled toward Manufacturing; however, it has a decent amount of cover and real estate to maneuver into a better position no matter what the circumstance. If you’re not being attacked from the south, your squad will have a great advantage when attacking anyone closer to the reactor itself as well as any other squad that may have landed on adjacent roofs. This roof has the most cover, and many escape routes, so expect it to be hot.

The Reactor Research Station 01 is noticeably smaller than buildings 1 and 4, however there are a few caveats that make this building a great battleground. Being able to access the roof from the inside makes this a nice building to hold up in while being able to out angle any approaching squads. It also contains a private office in the center of the building that helps provide some cover when in need of taking the building over or protecting yourself as you plate up.

Stay keen on the eastern approach toward Nuketown Shipping because, even though it’s at a lower elevation, there are some cheeky angles Operators may take some pot shots from. The good thing about this side of Reactor is that it may be the safest side, despite the possible snipers.

When landing on the Reactor Motor Pool, grab any loot you can and get off the roof or move directly toward the Reactor via the connected awning. The roof of this building marked as building 3 maintains very little to no cover, however there is plenty within the building. The Reactor Motor Pool is one of the more vertical buildings that surround the Reactor due to the large garage and the platforms that surround it. Use this building as a transitional building from the Cooling Towers or Nuketown Shipping toward the Reactor and vice versa. This can also be used as a holding point for any enemy squads attempting to rotate the same way. Because of the second floor, there is a bit of a height advantage, however, beware of the direct access enemy Operators have from the Reactor proper across the street.

Very similar to Reactor Research Station 01, the layout is almost identical. The major difference is the positioning of the building. Station 02 is set up directly in between the Cooling Towers and the Reactor proper, making this a very dangerous position to drop, initially. However, because of the connection via pipes to the Cooling Towers, taking this position and immediately rotating to the safest POI is viable from the Reactor Research Station 02.

Nuketown Shipping, a long road fully of opportunity for surprising and incredible amounts of action. Taking a vehicle through this POI is extremely useful if there aren’t any enemies to contend with, but almost a guaranteed death sentence if there are. Nuketown Shipping provides a great flanking opportunity around the outside of the Reactor on the east side of the map, but the plethora of broken Nuketown homes are perfect hiding spots and ambush locations for Operators to hold up in, especially as they wait for their teammates to return.

Nuketown Shipping has partially been given back to the desert and is at a lower elevation than the rest of the map. Before the gas hits, this is a great location to drop and gather as much gear as you can, but when the danger arrives, you’re going to want to have a game plan to get to safety. There are several stairways that lead directly to the Reactor. Split your squad up and try not to get funneled or take the long route around the north or south side of Nuketown Shipping to get out of the area before it’s too late.

Welcome to the Pods, once home to many of the workers here in Area 99. Pods will be where you can show off your Omnimovement prowess. Between each of the pods, there is a different level to jump to and from. Use the interiors to gain cover and escape danger, but for the most part you’ll be tossing yourself from roof to roof. Because of these elevation changes, the game is all about out angling and outsmarting your enemy. Even if you’re not at an elevated position, there’s always the ground level that has a thinner base than the rest of the pod living spaces. This gives you room to maneuver without the enemy being able to get an easy shot on you unless they take some time to go wide. You can even go inside the Pods base structures and ascend your way up to level the playing field.

Pods sit on the western edge of Area 99, so most of the fighting will be done in and on top of the pods, however you may want to watch for enemies approaching from Bunker, Reactor, and Manufacturing. If you can take control of at least half of the Pods POI, you should be able to take cover from any single direction you’re being attacked from, sometimes two. Just be ready to move and take a more defensive position rather than taking a fight on multiple fronts.

Manufacturing is the building with the single largest surface area. Both the exterior and the interior are large and there is plenty of room to move around. This also means that there is plenty of room for other squads to drop in without you being able to directly defend your position. You’ll need to gather as much intel as possible and make sure your squad isn’t attacked by surprise. Unlike the Mannequin Assembly where they assemble the “residents,” this is the home for all of the Nuketown house development.

If you’re landing on the roof, there are technically two levels you can land on. Whether you’re landing on the roof proper and entering the boardroom, or you’re landing on the roof of the board room itself, there is a lot of open space, so stay vigilant. As you land, take note of the helipad fully equipped with aerial transportation.

Among the boxes, boardroom, and even the lowered lounge area on the southwestern corner of the building, there is plenty of cover and ways to escape immediate danger. Stay keen to the fact that Manufacturing is also connected to the Warehouse to the south. You can either use the western ramp or the eastern rooftop to get to that building quickly.

The interior of the Manufacturing plant is like its own little Multiplayer map within Area 99. The building itself is two stories tall from the inside and there are many ways to enter and exit the building. While you’re inside, watch the corners and the long shot angles from corner to corner of the interior. Use as much equipment as you possibly can to gather intel for any lurking enemies running around the partially constructed Nuketown houses. Use the hallway on the northern wall of the building as well as the stairways to be in proximity to an exit if you’re not ready to go into the center of the structure. Utilize the bottom floor tunnel to make a sneaky escape or enter in as other squads are battling above you and take advantage of the end of the fight.

Here in the most southern part of the map is the Warehouse. With both a large rooftop and a single story, but rich, interior the Warehouse is a great stronghold when attempting to control a part of the map that can take you to the end game.

The Warehouse rooftop contains a lot more cover than Manufacturing, however the roof sits at a slightly lover elevation, which means that you’ll need to use the cover to protect yourself from any squads peaking over from Manufacturing. There are also a few more entry points from the Warehouse roof via the skylights. Get on the roof and drop in quickly, so that you can gear up and be prepared to attack the next POI.

The Warehouse has many opportunities to outplay your opponent. Between the hanging doors, stocking shelves, and large concrete walls, you’re going to have to do your best to keep track of the enemy before they move too far out of your site. From the eastern loading area, there are long shot lanes all the way into the Manufacturing building, so don’t stay in the open here too long, but also use any ranged scope you have to hold down the entire eastern side of the POI. Directly underneath this area is the loading ramp that can be used as a passthrough on the outside of the building. It can also be used as a stealthy way into the Warehouse.

With only a few buildings to play around, this POI has one of the most advantageous locations on the map. You’ll notice a large red crane that suspending a mostly finished but damaged Nuketown house. Not only can you traverse the entire house, but you can get an overlook on the entire southeastern corner of the map as well as parts of the Reactor in the center of the map. This house can be your home for a while so long as you keep safe from certain Killstreaks. Depending on your Loadout, you can rack up a solid number of eliminations and let the rest of the area know that they shouldn’t expose themselves to your rifle. If you need to escape in a pinch, dive off onto one of the buildings below the house to get down quickly and take minimal to no damage while doing so. The garage makes for a solid spot for the rest of your squad to protect your blind spots that the hanging house can’t quite see to the south. It's also wide open, so you can store a vehicle or two in there if you don’t want them being destroyed by a long-distance shooter.

Finally, there’s a second house that’s on the ground level directly adjacent to the road between Manufacturing and the Loading Bay. Watch out for enemy squads attempting to make a quick escape into this house as it’s the first piece of cover from Nuketown Shipping and a solid spot for player to make it to if they’re coming from Reactor and attempting to reach the edge of the map. This house also makes a great strong hold for holding the edge of the map and protecting your squad from any approaching enemies from the north.
