DIG

Prebrief

An operator in black tactical armor fires a pistol while teammates battle through the stone ruins of the Dig multiplayer map.

Like the archeological dig site found within the map, the remastered Dig follows up on a history that goes deeper than first meets the eye. Initially released in Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2, the map was inspired by Courtyard in Call of Duty®: World at War, favored for its open layout, abundant cover positions, and harrowing chokepoints.

For those needing a refresher or an introduction, the map, now established firmly within Avalon, features two circular dig sites in the center connected by a tight passageway and flanked by ruined towers at each corner. Around the perimeter, battle down long passageways amongst tools, supplies, and the remnants of the original structure. Offshoots and partial walls open plentiful flanking routes throughout the map, so that you never quite know what’s waiting for you around the next corner.

Dig Intel

A downed teammate is revived with a green holographic effect while another operator provides cover near burning ruins.

1. Towers of power: When the action heats up in the central pits, take up a position in one of the four square corners for a protected view over the center. Better yet, by sticking to either the top or bottom pair, you can race back and forth to cover both pits without exposing yourself to attacks from the middle due to the high walls running between them.

2. Battle at the Grand Stairs: Magnificent not just for its architecture, the northern Grand Stairs POI offers huge tactical opportunities with both its raised walkway and the short pathway running beneath the stairs. For a greater view, hop up onto one of the sidewalls running along the stairway, providing sightlines across a large portion of the area.

3. Outpace the enemy: Dig’s longer sightlines are a major threat when confronting enemy snipers and other long-range attackers. If you’d rather get up close and fight toe-to-toe, consider an SMG with mobility improving Perks like Lightweight to improve your speed while using the map’s many pivot points and shortcuts to close the gap and eliminate foes before they can get a sight on your position.
