Enter a hallucination of a subzero testing facility in David Mason’s tortured mind. Signs of his fracturing psyche appear in the icy landscape where monstrous floating Monitors emit a red static signal near the Cells.
Step into the Control room that overlooks the experiment — a large room with a chair set into the floor in the middle, surrounded by additional screens. Battle enemies in the heart of the operation or move along the outer perimeter, through the old Mine, across the Abyss, and past the shimmering Ice Wall. Push the fight and don’t let up, lest you end up imprisoned with your mind scrambled.
1. Stay central: You don’t have to sit in the chair to get the most out of the Brainwash POI. The stacked screens surrounding it obstruct views in and out of the area, interspersed with viewpoints you can use to attack enemies on the other side. Try your hand at holding the location; just watch the Control room.
2. Subzero agility: Equip the Fast Hands Perk to swap and reload your weapons faster, both key enhancements when moving around a small-sized map like Nexus where short- and mid-ranged sightlines sit close together throughout the map. Deploy with an option for each and pick the one that best fits your current needs.
3. Monitor hop: Those stacked and floating Monitors on the west end of the ice cavern aren’t just for looking at. It’s possible to climb up on and jump onto some of them, creating a makeshift vantage point over enemies moving on ground level.
Be on your guard when moving near the Cells, each of them open on the ground floor. There’s not much room to move around inside, but just enough to keep an Operator out of sight, ready to lash out when you least suspect it. Check for occupants when passing by and set up your own ambush when the time is right.
A lot of action along the top lane? Head to the Stairs section on the west end and use the metal panels for cover as you defend the area from incoming enemies. There’s easy access to Abyss along the upper staircase with two doorways on the ground floor splitting off to the left. When there’s movement in the area, there are worse places to make a stand.
Engaged in a firefight across the bottom lane? It requires some finesse, but it’s possible to Wall Jump across the outer edge of the central ice column. This is a great way to cross the lane and ambush enemies on the other side who may be otherwise distracted.
