Though the game looks great on high-end graphics cards, it isn’t just designed for players with the best GPUs. With 800+ customization options across graphics, gameplay, input devices, interface, and more, you can dial into the exact settings that work best for your setup.

Some of the major PC features we’re supporting include:

• Optimized Hardware Support: Modern Warfare 4 runs on most hardware while also seamlessly scaling up to crisp graphics and ultra-smooth, high FPS gameplay on higher-end setups. The game automatically configures settings based on your hardware.
• Display Optimization: From 4K to 1440p to 1080p, from standard to Ultrawide, expect support for displays of all shapes and sizes.
• Cutting-Edge Upscaling: Choose from a range of upscaling and frame generation technologies including AMD FSR Redstone, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, Intel XeSS 3, and Filmic SMAA T2X.
• RICOCHET Anti-Cheat: A Multi-layered Anti-Cheat system combines server-side detections, hardware-based protections such as TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot integration, deep investigations, and legal action to combat the cheating market and keep gameplay fair. In addition to RICOCHET Anti-Cheat, expect account security with 2FA and email verification.
• Sub-frame mouse polling: Increased mouse precision for aiming, in addition to support for a variety of input devices.

Visibility and Target Acquisition

Led by Infinity Ward in partnership with Beenox, significant progress has been made on improving visibility and clarity to the game across all platforms including PC, with the following updates:

Enhanced FOV

Available exclusively on PC, Enhanced FOV uses physically accurate lens effects to increase the field of view near the edges of your monitor without affecting the center FOV, a useful feature for players who prefer a smaller FOV but still want the awareness advantage of a wider field of view.

Greater Player Visibility

With HDR10+, the game engine interacts with your screen’s brightness settings in real time, adjusting contrast and lightning as needed for optimal clarity without the need to adjust manual sliders.

Additionally, expect new visual settings and setting values that lead to a sharper gameplay experience including:

• New sharpness slider global to any upscaler
• New shading quality
• New Filmic SMAA T2X settings
• Improved GFX settings such as:
  • Screen Space Reflections
  • Shadow Filtering Quality
  • Occlusion and Screen Space Lighting

Visual Clarity in Combat: Weapon VFX Masking

Muzzle effects are dynamically masked at the point of aim, keeping targets visible without reducing visual intensity.

Depth of Field

The Depth of Field setting will now be split between two settings: World Depth of Field and Weapon Depth of Field. With this change, players who prefer a sharper world can still experience the realistic effects of aiming with a weapon.

Weapon Bloom

In previous games, bullets fired used to hit randomly within a certain area of effect. In Modern Warfare 4, bullets are now fired based on the weapon’s barrel position, leading to more intuitive, precise, and realistic aiming, in both ADS and hipfire stances. Optionally add a Laser Attachment to your weapons to help you read where these shots are traveling.

Performance and Settings

Modern Warfare 4 is raising the bar for PC performance, targeting 90 FPS at Recommended Specs without compromising visual quality. Players can enjoy a smoother, more responsive gameplay experience, while the broad range of supported hardware keeps the game accessible to players with more modest setups.

• 90 FPS at Recommended Specs: Enjoy buttery smooth gameplay with 90 FPS support at Recommended Specs without manual setting tweaks to achieve this. 
• Ray Tracing in All Modes: Ray Tracing is supported in Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ, enhancing graphical immersion with hyper-realistic reflections, shadows, and lighting.
• Resolution Scaling Technique: Choose from several upscaling solutions based on your graphics card to maximize performance with the following options:
  • NVIDIA DLSS 4.5: NVIDIA RTX technology which uses a deep learning neural network to boost frame rates and generate beautiful, sharp images.
  • AMD FSR Redstone: Cutting edge upscaling technique developed from the ground up to produce high resolution frames from lower resolution inputs.
  • Intel XeSS 3: Super Sampling technology using machine learning to deliver more performance with expectational image quality.
  • Filmic SMAA T2X: Default post process effect to reduce perceived jagged edges in the final rendered image.

Benchmark Tool

Zero in on performance stats with the built-in Benchmark Tool, which will run a simulated multiplayer sequence that tests your system’s, displaying real-time information including Average FPS, CPU, GPU, Ping, and Input Latency. Get a more detailed overview following the sequence with a breakdown on stats across all zones and in each individual zone, including setting suggestions to improve your system’s performance in different gameplay scenarios.

Advanced Shader Delivery

Previously known as “Shader Preloading”, get straight to playing with Advanced Shader Delivery (ASD), enabling MW4 to launch faster by delivering precompiled shaders ahead of time across supported PC platforms.

A few minutes of preparation before launch day will mean less time managing downloads, updates, and setting up. For the best experience, download and install the XBOX PC app ahead of time no matter what your PC platform, so ASD can deliver your precompile shaders at game install and throughout live updates. Also remember, don’t skip downloading the latest graphics drivers.

Note: Installing the XBOX PC app is only necessary if you wish to utilize ASD on a supported PC platform.

Update Doesn’t Require Restart, Faster UX Flow

Updates no longer require restarts during game boots, reducing the friction of loading up the game after an update, though you can still expect a restart when an update goes live when you’re actively in-game. Expect this to occur between matches. We’ve also created a faster user experience flow by streamlining the game menus in favor of getting into a match as soon as possible.

For the PC Crowd: New Collateral Mode

Experience Call of Duty in a completely new way with Collateral, a new Multiplayer game mode designed for fans of Search and Destroy and those from the more competitive community.

In Collateral, every dollar counts and every decision matters. Teams alternate between attacking and defending two bomb sites, and all players start with a Pistol and earn in-game cash throughout the match to spend on upgrades between rounds.

Eliminate enemies and play the objective to earn cash which you can spend on the following upgrades:

• Armor and Perks: Armor Vest, Battle Hardened, Lethal Reach, Fast Hands, Ghost
• Equipment: Flash Grenade, Molotov Cocktail, Frag Grenade, Stim, Smoke Wall, Riot Shield
• Pistols: Silenced Pistol, Revolver, Akimbo Pistols, Power Pistol
• Standard Issue: Shotgun, Light Machine Gun, Marksman Rifle, Silenced SMG, Agile SMG
• Tier 1: Semi Auto Rifle, High Damage Rifle, Burst Rifle, Silenced Rifle, Sniper Rifle
• Team Buy: UAV

You lose your loadout if you die, and all earned money is kept between rounds. Respawns, Killstreaks, automatic health regeneration, and custom loadouts are all disabled. Use the limited tools available to you and make smart purchases to improve your odds in the high stakes, single life gameplay of Collateral.
