It’s difficult to believe that Zombies almost didn’t happen…
The first Zombies experience came about during development for Call of Duty: World at Warwhen character animations and the development of co-op gameplay mechanics collided inside developer Treyarch in the happiest of accidents. The result: the seed of what would eventually become Zombies, which infected the entire studio, helping the mode to mature and crawl its way onto the game disc.
With the release of World at War in 2008, players that finished the campaign encountered a rather unique Easter Egg: Zombies.
…and nothing would ever be the same again.
Players would square off, repelling waves of the undead in the original, classic Zombies map, Nacht der Untoten. More than just a game, Zombies created a new brand of dialogue between the developer and fans, ultimately creating a rich tapestry of Zombies history. It became apparent that the only thing more ravenous than the hordes of the undead would be the Zombies fans who followed.
In many ways, Zombies wouldn’t be what it is today without its fans. For those who seek to join that adventure, Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles Edition offers players the opportunity to catch up on these classic Zombies moments. From Perk-a-Colas and Wonder Weapons, to the extremely helpful Gobblegums, this is the ultimate undead collection!
The Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles edition includes the full base game, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, plus Zombies Chronicles, which delivers eight remastered maps from Call of Duty: World at War “Nacht der Untoten”, “Verruckt”, and “Shi No Numa”; “Kino Der Toten”, “Ascension”, “Shangri-La”, and “Moon” from Call of Duty: Black Ops; and “Origins” from Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
