Does anyone else want the option not to join in progress games

So why must I join games that have already started?
I play at all times of night. I have a lot of friends but not any clans, or teams that are always on when I am. This means I play solo quite a bit. I end up thrown into matches that are almost over, or where the other team is already destoying the one I joined into. This destroys my chances of ever having a good w/l ratio. I don't care that much, except I hate explaining it to people. Yes my K/D is way better than my W/L. But it is because of all these losing games I'm forced to join. People assume I am in it for kills alone and that I quit games that threatan my K/D. I am in it to win. And I have pulled the plug out of frustration with being put in these, almost over, losing games repeatedly.
A lot of people pull the plug for their stats sake. I think that it should keep everything even if you cut connection in game. That will keep those 6.00+ cheated K/Ds out of the mix. But to do so, I ask that they put an option in that allows you not to join games that are in progress. I get ten losses to every 3 wins because I constantly get thrown into matches where the game is seconds from ending. This is my most hated part of playing any online FPS.
Edit:
Then again, Combat Arms had it so that when you joined the lobby, you could choose to stay or back out before actually getting into game, and it had an automatic system that would keep you from entering if the game was really close to ending.
Something like that would be cool.
Oh I wanted to add something. If they did this I can understand the problem of people leaving a game and no one coming back in. That should be considered a forefit and the team should get a win in this case (which already happens if everyone leaves on a team anyway).
Wouldnt be good because if people left it would be like 6 vs 1 ALOT and just makes the game unfair and if that one or two guys always left because having to play alone would suck and make the game forfeit which would happen alot especially since this game is all about rage quits. I beilieve it should just be the same and it doesnt mattter about k/d ratio because its a videogame and call of duty isnt a true competitive game anyways.
Completely agree with you... They should atleast offer an option such as "This game is already in progress, would you still like to join" or something of that matter. It's really annoying getting forced into games that are nearly done.. Some people don't care about their stats but for those who do it really sucks
Yes!!!
This would be an awesome feature to have in this game, i can't tell you how many times i've been annoyed in joining a game just about done and the team i join is just getting owned like there is no tomorrow
What you have to think about is all of the games that will be forfeited if this option did not exist
I would LOVE to have the option to not join a game-in-progress! It's quite annoying to have to join a game that's more than half-over and the enemy team is whopping your team on a scale of atleast 10 to 1. What's worse are games you join where the first and last thing you see is the final scoreboard and a loss to your record.
This. Just the problem is it helps your team get back up, it's and iffy thing to walk on.
I'm in a similar situation, I enjoy playing solo but I really hate how frequently I end up in the middle of a blow out match. It's the Balck Ops connection issues.
I played a lot of Black Ops and a lot of MW2 and I have to say I have never seen so many blow out matches as I've seen on Black Ops
I also a mainly play solo, and I have never been put into so many blow out matches as in Black Ops.
In my opinion this is NEEDED but also to prevent games from ending up being 6v1, make it so that there's a penalty for leaving a game early, this would lower ragequits by so much if this was added.
I only see this creating unbalanced matches and making matchmaking times take forever. I don't think this is a good idea.
I honestly don't mind waiting a little longer to find a match if I don't have to join a game that is only one kill away from ending in a loss for the team I join.
Besides, if I join a game that 6700 to 1700 in TDM then I don't think I'm going to make that much a difference.
Joining a losing game in progress or one just about to end sucks - BUT there is no getting around it - otherwise you'll all be back here complaining about being in a game that was 6 Vs. 2 or 6 Vs. 3 - etc.
If you party up with like just one other person the chance of joining a game in progress goes Waayyyy down.
Halo works that way. Teammates usually backed out (and sufferered loss of rank) if there was no hope of winning so really it didn't matter in the end.
I personally wouldn't mind joining a game in-progress IF there were the option to filter out games that were near completion or the differences in score was under a certain threshold. Joing a fair match is much preferred over joining a slaughter.
I think that there should be an option setting (in the same way that you can choose your game mode or set your party to open).
The options could be JOIN FAST which puts you into a game or lobby with almost no delay, you would have a fair chance of joining a game in progress after players have quit out and therefore you would join "losing" and "losing almost over" games, but you would sometimes join "winning" games and often lobbies between games.
The next option could be JOIN GAMES EARLY ONLY which would take out games over 50% played (by virtue of winning score or time elapsed). You should have a mandatory time delay here, perhaps 15 seconds to encourage players to use the first option - we want mass quit out games to be reinforced as soon as possible. It can also be a lot of fun coming in as a new trooper hero and turning the game around with a marginal win.
The third and last option could be JOIN UNSTARTED GAMES ONLY, the choice for serious-minded codders who want to keep their stats sacred and are happy to wait. Often this is worthwhile because you might only join once in a whole evening of COD. There should be a madatory wait of 30 seconds plus then you are placed into a newly formed lobby (perhaps brand new, perhaps recently formed by like-optioned players) and so there is a further time delay for a game.

I get the POV, however, it would really adversely affect matchmaking.
Gotta go with, "No."
I think if you join a game late lets say half way through, it should not count towards a loss or win. Idk about it changing your k/d from that game and not your w/l but I dont think that will effect anything.
I will say no, halo reach takes forever to find people for a new game.
If possible, I'd say a compromise; you can join in progress until say, halfway through the match, then it becomes locked (since halfway is usually when you know whether you can win or not)
Yeah, or at least 3/4 of the way through lock it out. I agree.
Thank you to everyone for your input. I see the problems with making this a reality, but I like some of the possibilities. Things like making it possible for games that are half way over or more. A Xsecond delay for using this option. I think the best idea is to give you an option to immediately leave a game thats more than halfway through without it being considered a loss (thats if you never actually picked a class and got in game).
Thats really the bottom line. It shouldn't effect you as a win or loss when you join a game late and don't want to start it.
i know i would. i hate jumping into a match that has already started
i dont play gears, but one of my friends said theres a different kdr and wlr for games that you joined in. so that i think is the best option for those who value their stats. if they just *copied gears and implemented that feature it would be great.
Everyone always complains about things slowing down gameplay. How slow do you think a 6 vs 1 will be?
The solution isn't an option to not late join.
The solution is to handle the stats involved differently.
Personally I think a system similar to the Win-Loss system for baseball pitchers could work.
If you join a game on a winning team, then your win or loss will count.
If you join a game on a losing team, then your win or loss will only count if at some point in time you take the lead since you entered.
I couldn't agree more! I hate joining a game of S&D and the score is already 0-3! Nothing is worse than losing a game when you didnt even have a chance to spawn out!
The game should be able to determine the probabilityof a win. At a certain improbability you should be given the option to pass
i.e. "The probability of victory is less than 30% would you like to find another match?"
YES!
