I'm starting to regret my DLC purchase

Posted by the_murf53 on Mar 10, 2013 7:40 AM

I purchased revolution yesterday and I was pretty hyped about it.  I had picked up the peacekeeper off of the ground several times and fell in love with it and I had heard Grind and Downhill were amazing maps and they are.  I don't regret purchasing the DLC for the quality that came with it.  Die Rise is also amazing.  I do however regret it because of the amount of lag that came with it.  Before I bought the map pack I was having very little lag issues.  It seemed all of the lag infested players (no offense to those of you out there) had moved over to the DLC section of the game and well I was right.  I'm probably going to uninstall the DLC now.  I wish there was a way to disable it like in mw3 so I could keep the peacekeeper.  I love that gun but it's not worth the lag frustration I'm experiencing right now.  Anyone else have this problem as well?

I don't think the DLC section is infested with McDonalds wifi users, DLC just fragments the playerbase making matchmaking worse which results in lag. The map pack as you said was pretty good and the peacekeeper is a decent gun but I couldn't be bothered putting up with the BS at the moment so I'm taking yet another break from Blops 2.

I agree, I live in a very well infrastructured City (Internet wise) and have noticed the stuttering in-game and latency the DLC pack has brought???

The host selection is horrendous too. Sometimes you can get into lobbies where everyone is on a 1 or 2 bar except the host.

Host selection is a joke with this game. How on earth can you make split screeners host and expect the game to run properly?

As for the lobbies since the arrival of DLC, worse than ever before. I tried playing after I deleted the DLC and it's the same that way round.

If you have a decent Internet connection on this game forget it. You will get no help from the software whilst the 3 bar wonder will happily skip round you all day killing you before it's even registered on your screen! The worst part is, this also seems to apply even when I'm host which makes absolutely no sense.

Regret buying the DLC, I regret buying the game but given the lack of alternatives at the moment, I seem to be stuck playing lag ops v2!

Currently I'm enjoying Battlefield 3 and what is probably 100th playthrough of Red Dead Redemption both are well made games in which I actually have fun. Alternatives aren't too hard to find... or maybe I'm just easily amused.

I could never get into the mp for BF3. It just didn't feel right to me. Same can be said for the latest Socom unfortunately as I used to love the original versions for the PS2.

I might do another run through of Assassin's Creed 3 to see if I beat my previous 100% completion time.

From mid January to mid Feburary I just played through the whole Assassin's Creed series. At first BF3 felt weird to me because the movement isn't as fluid and it doesn't have that arcade feel (in my first game I was trying to dropshot people ) but now I'm having alot of fun with that game.

Given the current situation with lag ops v2 I might well be giving BF3 another try as I know various clan mates have switched to it and they seem to enjoy it.

Either that or I'll go back and try for 100% completion on the older AC games!

I want to play COD but I just can't bring myself to do it. If I'm not having fun then I won't play a game. Hopefuly the devs can improve things in the next patch to make the game a bit more enjoyable.

That, unfortunately, sums this game up. It's just not fun to play on a consistent basis!

As many people have said, great game full of interesting ideas and changes but they unfortunately have been so poorly implemented that people have simply turned off from the game!

I bought bf3 and didn't like it at first but wanted to stick by it because BO2 was so broke. I do like it now, although I suck at it. I don't know how to use the vehicles or really care for those game modes so I tend to stay in the cq tdm, its just like cods tdm, 8 v 8, small maps, no vehicles. I wish I knew about this game mode sooner, the other tdms are like 500 kills to win and can take a looooong time, I'd be in a game for like 20 mins and wondering how long its got left to go and then backing out coz it lasted so long lol.

Also, I bought Crysis 3 the other day and the multiplayer is great, its almost the same layout as cod for setting up classes, same kind of guns, and game modes  and maps so any cod fan who has never played crysis can adapt to it easily. Check out some MP vids of it and spread the word. It needs more players, thats all.

I was thinking about getting Crysis  after watching a couple of Elpresador's and Thunder's videos but I'm worried about lag. It runs on P2P so if there isn't many people playing it the connection could be a bit dodgy.

hey bought crysis 3 a couple days after it came out, after watch Elpresador. Game runs hands down 10x better than this game. Its unebelievable how a game with 1,500 people online WORLDWIDE can run more smooth than a game with 500,000-700,000 online. Have only played COD for a few hours since Crysis 3 came out. And i've never even played a crysis game until 3.

You're going to have this if not many people bought the DLC. You/we have to be matched with people that have it, in your region at least (maybe they are far away) that will make connections in the lobbies horrible. Paying for DLC doesn't make the quality of the experience better. Just the quantity of places to die on.

I'm in the same exact situation. The DLC lobbies have completely crippled my game play. Really is a waste of money in my opinion. I'll try to make the best of it, but it's just a lesson for the future I guess.

To be honest, I haven't noticed anymore lag than normal gameplay unless we're with a horrible host. The one thing that makes me regret this DLC is there seems to be more campers on these four maps, than all the original maps combined, not that I'm trying to turn this into a camper vs run & gun debate. I just wish I could get more than 20 feet on these maps before running into campers.
