Let's be real. Are you compensating for something with your Stats? Namely, K/D?

I've been playing video games for longer than the majority who play this game have been alive I'm sure (Since roughly 85 with Atari). With that being said, I've seen the scene and different genres grow and change be it console, computer or arcade. In those many many years of "gaming" I've played along side (arcade) and/or with people from all walks of life, race, color creed, etc. With that out of the way, I've known people from back in the Street Fighter days at the arcade who clearly didn't have much going for them in their personal life. They usually told you or wore it on their sleeves, or you simply knew first hand because you went to school with them. Is it bad that their outlet is Video Games? No. I'm not saying that and let's make that very clear. Is it sad, that their gaming identity turns into their control in which they try and use to manipulate their friends' outlook on them? YES! So...How many of you playing this game and go straight to "Stats" such as K/D and/or what camos you have to boost your self-esteem? Your gaming persona, does it run your life? Do you think about it throughout your day? Do you tell your friends while you're out and about and not in game? I'm just curious because stats get thrown around a lot and the whole Cyber Bully thing goes along with it. Some of us use stats as a gauge for our own personal gratification, and a whole lot of others use it for their virtual social status. Where do you fall in this? I'm guessing this will strike a nerve and won't get many hits and die down in a day or two, but hey. I'm hoping it reaches out to some of you, and makes you think twice about life, and how this game may effect your future. I have two boys, 8 mos and 8 years, and you're going to be their bosses, co-workers, etc. I need to know that there are stable human beings out there, and role models outside of my wife and I parenting. - Younique
