Grip Problems

Posted by Gamorade on Feb 2, 2013 7:46 PM

Hey everyone/Treyarch,

(This thread is only intented for informatinal purposes. It is in no way made to attack Treyarch or any of it's peoples, I have great respect for the company, and the game call of duty, I just want answers, thanks.)

As most of you know the grip doesn't seem to do anything in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

I and many other people around the Call of Duty Community have tested multiple different theories (examples: recoil reduction, visual recoil reduction, etc) and each test concluded that it does nothing.

Now either the grip does some unknown thing that nobody really knows about yet, or it's bugged.

Any opinons and responses would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Works overtime thats what David said on his Twitter. You wont be able to notice it right away but he claims it works just fine.

You know he wouldn't lie to us?! I sincerely hope you aren't trying to play with my intelligence, or emotions. "We don't have a lead platform", his words.

Vahn said that grip reduces view kick. NOT gun kick. In previous cods grip reduce recoil and made your gun a lot more accurate. In this game grip only reduces view kick, by a small percentage. (Fact)

I notice it works best on scar h, swat556, and sometimes an94 but I don't like using it on the an94 myself. (Opinion)

The best way to reduce recoil is to use the silencer.

The silencer doesn't have any effect on recoil it just eliminates muzzle flash.

Lol is this your first cod? Every cod since mw2, using the silencer reduced recoil. Even though the stats don't say it does. Just like fmj doesn't increase damage. But the stats say fmj does increase damage. See my point.

silencer only reduces muzzle flash, it gives the appearance of reduced recoil.

          go do some research

I think because of the reduced muzzle flash you are under the impression that your gun is kicking less. I can assure you that the silencer does not reduce recoil.

the silencer in no way reduces kick.

      it reduces muzzle flash.

EDIT* buk beat me to it

No video sorry. But I've been playing cod since mw2. And I know what I'm saying. It always reduced recoil even though the stats say it doesn't.

Silencers only reduce muzzle flash which may appear as reduced recoil.

(I'm not trying to start an argument with anyone)

I understand what muzzle flash is. And I understand what recoil is.

The silencer always reduced recoil in mw2, bo1, mw3. In bo2 I notice it only helps with a few guns like the an94 and scar. But if you use silencer on the PDW it feels like it has more recoil. Bo2 is strange that way.

Silencers have never effected recoil in any previous COD game... Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Well that's interesting but I still see a few people say it does. And I've talked about this with a good friend of mine before and he agreed. Like I said in bo2 it doesn't seem noticeable on all guns but in previous it definetly helped a lot. And I have a ton of days played in every cod since mw2.

Well if you think a silencer reduces recoil that's cool, do whatever works for you

By the way, I'm speaking about AR's and smg's. I don't notice a difference with sniper rifles or lmgs. And shotguns don't get used at long range so I can't speak for that.

In mw2 go use the mini Uzi without a silencer in multiplayer. Play at least ten games with it.

Then use it with silencer and play at least ten games with it. The difference is very obvious :)

I think you are experiencing a placebo especially as it is a common myth that silencers reduce recoil and now your brain is tricking you into believing that a silencer is making your gun kick less. I'm sure if you did wall testing rather than making subjective judgments based on gameplay you would find that with or without a silencer you would get more or less the same recoil patterns.

how many cods have you played? Have you done wall tests with every weapon in the game with every cod? Even the mp9 in mw3 had reduced recoil. That's why everyone used it with a silencer.

By the way when I first started playing cod back in June of 2009 (mw2) I didn't know anything about the game. When I first started playing I never used silencer because the stats said it reduced damage and range. Then I started trying new weapons in the game instead of just the mp5k and scar. And I noticed a difference. I continued to notice a difference since mw2 between guns with silencer and guns without. Only in bo2 is it inconsistent (along with other things). I wish I could show you my games and show you what I'm talking about but I don't have a pvr :(

This has been an interesting conversation but I can see this is just going to be a back and forth kinda thing as you seem adamant that the silencer reduces recoil but like I said before do whatever works for you . BTW I have been playing COD since COD 4 although MW2 was the first COD I started playing on a regular basis.

View Kick reduction can only be seen on really high FPS (frames/sec) basically really high end PC's. On consoles that play on ~60 FPS its not even noticable so it doesn't even apply.

The grip does nothing. The silencer only reduces muzzle flash giving the perception of reduced recoil.

honestly, the grip attachment is a waste, there is much better things that you can use instead of it.
