Why'd they remove the gory deaths from W@W?

It was cooler when peoples' limbs could get blown off from grenades and betties. Direct hits from lightning strikes ect. should cause you to vaporize....would have been a nice touch imo.  The game is already rated M, so it shouldn't matter if it's not child appropriate.

You know what, I was playing World At War yesterday and I asked myself the same question. Remember blowing someones legs off with a trench gun?

Half of cod players being kids. Not having gore sucks. Snipers should blow off arms or heads.

They made it less gory so that parents won't be complaining.

I think they should bring in the option where you could turn graphic content on or off. That would mean it would be up to the parents to make sure their kids weren't exposed to that kind of content.

there arleady is a option for graphic amd vulgar content, would be nice if they took one from gears of wars books.... the sounds of splatting someone with shotguns and headshots from snipers on that was so satisfying....

the main reason is the insides of the XBOX can't handle it. The "gore" that has the limbs being blown off and other great stuff that was inW@W uses a TON of processing power and memory. If you remember W@W also had a VERY limited killstreak system, perks were minimal, and gun selection was not overbearing. At the cost of adding more to the game they sacrificed some of the other things to make it possible.

A lot of it, as mentioned, has to do with memory and processing power.

In my mind, the irony of the argument that they cleaned it up due to pressure from parents about violent video games is that by taking away the gore, you glorify the killing even more.

In real life, you shoot someone, it isn't clean like in the movies. They don't just take the bullet and go down.

I am an advocate of truth. You show someone what really happens... what the consequences of their actions are... you take away some of that glory.

The fact is, War is a dirty, nasty business and by taking the gore out they make it seem somewhat glamorous.

I am all for getting rid of theater and elite, focusing on the basics of gameplay again, and bringing back the gore.

I thought it added to the realism as well BUT with the spat of school shootings here in the US, the media and government need there scapegoats and movies and video games are already in the cross hairs. I'm afraid that this will not happen unless they provide a sure way of verifying a persons age such as drivers licensed numbers or something like that. This situation has become political and I'm afraid that people are going to have to open there eye's to the fact that violent video games are being targeted.

Like the OP said above: "Rated M for Mommy has to buy it". Sadly, bad parents will blame anything else except for there incompetence when it comes to these kinds of things.

The joke is that out of all the mass shootings none of them resemble what happens in COD any more than the one that happened in Baghdad in 2007 but I don't think the military were ever tried.  If authorities are worried about violence, they could at least hold those who commit such grave crimes accountable for their actions.
