Would You Consider This Camping?

Posted by Shouka on Dec 26, 2012 9:16 PM

I'm just trying to figure out if people would find something wrong with this playstyle. I ended the game 38/9, we were losing (guy on the other team was 16-0 before i got the ball rolling), but we did comeback and win.

I would definitely say that is borderline camping. I mean c'mon there is a whole map and your just running back and forth in the same basic area. Its players like you that make so many others rage quit!!

No! That is just defending a position. Being a PUZZY, I mean camping is when a weakling does something like camp up in the turret room on the Yemen map where there's ONLY ONE point of egress and the camper is hard scoping that egress.

I liked this comment, but I have to admit... I have done that, but only for long enough for the idiot enemies that WERE camping the room to come straight back and die, lol. I then make my way out of there and catch them coming back a third time somewhere in the pathways between there and their spawn. Usually a pretty easy Bloodthirsty, lol.

Haha! Did you need to take a shower afterword. Just kidding. Lol! I think that we've all camped a position or two when trying to dissuade some of those lousy campers that are obsessed with running back to the same camping spot over and over after getting killed. How can that kind of mindless gameplay be fun? I find it amusing that campers are rarely brave enough to use a headset. They live in their own little world of fear.

"I'm a beast! I just went 13-10 while never moving for 10 minutes. Yay!"

Yeah, that is for straight up puzzles and everyone knows it. The enemy knows it, your teammates that are getting their asses kicked because you're no help know it, and the 12 yo girl down the street that you hope to diddle knows it just by your smell.

It's a on the edge of camping, but more toward controlling an area of the map strategically. I'd be more annoyed by the head glitching especially behind the 2 barrel's.

If you had a target finder It would be camping LOL, but at the same time if you had the TF you would be compelled not to move by the sheer mass of said TF.

I myself wouldn't call this camping. I believe it to be a great strategy. The whole point is to find the enemy and kill them so if that is a place where the enemy frequently go then that is a good place to be. But that is just my opinion.

I wouldn't call this camping either. The area he has to control over (this includes the lines of sight as well) covers at least 50% - 60% of the map. There are locations with lines of sight across the map as well. Plenty of people have a chance to kill him from MANY directions. There is no rule that says you have to visit every section of the map in a single game. This is just good gameplay. Not camping.

Guenter just nailed. I laugh at the cats that continually and ignorantly claim camping anytime another player isn't running laps around the map and serving himself up for easy kills.

Pretty sure you don't get points for most miles run.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with this.  If the enemy knows you are there it's their fault for feeding you kills.  I would've simply avoided that area, or took a position and ADS on your barrel.  People that talk crap about this playstyle are the ones that want to just run around like idots chasing dots with no stradegy what so ever.  Generally, when you are making people mad, you are doing something right.

A note though, the ONLY thing I consider to be a BS way to play is sitting in a corner watching a doorway.

butt those campers you can kill easily, camping like this is BS

sitting behind walls waiting for people to come is camping

thats what i call procamping ,the guys in the corners are noobcamping.

you probably do get points for running miles! if you use the correct perk!

I dont think its camping, more defending an area

dude, you can sure use that gun well, have you got fire select on it?

Camping doesnt matter anyway.  people just yell and get frustrated because they cant kill them.  I dont "camp" but what i do is not feed them kills.  if i find a camper and i cant get at him ill let him sit and starve for kills.  if more people did that then those campers would have to move or read a book.  let them waste their time.  but If i were you i wouldnt worry about what others think of your gameplay.  you play how you feel comfortable and how it works best for you.  you didnt buy this game to win the approval of strangers did you?  looks like solid gameplay that helped your team achieve victory. simple as that.

Actually, I'd say that is holding down an area. You were effectively funnelling your enemy into certain areas with the sentry gun and your movement between 3 different areas of high volume movement. I would not call this camping. You might get called a camper, but it's not camping. Still, I would have switched to the operative class and nailed you with some C4, but some people are just that easy to kill.

The worst camping is when you have two guys camping in a room with one entry point. Camper #1 hard scopes the door and Camper #2 backs himself to the door in hopes of using Camper #1 as bait. That's real genius teamwork there. lol

No, this isn't camping in my opinion. In fact, I'd say you've done a very good job there.

It's very similar to what I do when playing Domination and holding B. I see a massive difference between moving back and forth and stayng crouched in one spot. You're constantly moving and holding an area. In Domination, there's a big difference between camping B and defending B.

The enemies in this video are absolute gluttons for punishment. Why a Frag wasn't thrown to your location is beyond me.

new class system doesent require you to carry equipment or lethal or a seconday and the flipside is that it made alot of people very selfish.(even more then before)

often you wont see anyone using a thropy system except parties and very few uses EMP grenades or FHJ.

im forced to change classes alot of times to take out enemy stuff lol.

True. The reason for that isn't Treyarch's fault though. Why run grenades in your classes when the enemy is running: all perks, overkill/perks, primary gunfighter/perks, etc..? If you are playing against a load of people who don't use grenades, then you can be much more effective at killing them by using a class that is designed around perks instead of balance.

I always have one or two classes that have a specific purpose. One is to be used for taking down aircraft, and the other is for breaking through heavily defended points. One has a SMAW, and the other has lethals.

The rest of my classes are built to take out the ones who are running all those perks, because I can't compete if I don't. With the lag in this game, you can't afford any disadvantages.

The whole premise of this thread only proves that there is no real definition of camping.

    And...

who cares safe from 12 year olds anyways?

No not camping a smart way to play, I consider being in a room with one way in and just watching the door is camping. I consider this holding your ground and getting those baby buffaloes. Smart play.

I play the same way and I hate drone I haven't found a good spot to do this thanks for a new spot to try.

I don't think they "dislike" it... Because it seems to get voted for a lot, including by myself, unless it's up against Slums, Standoff, or Hijacked. I think the community still isn't quite familiar with it as they could be. It's an unusual map design, meant to offer something to every type of player.

I have tried holding down that very location many times, it's usually a coin toss on whether or not I have success. I'm nowhere near as good as you are doing it, so props to you sir. That said, there are some other spots where this can be done as well. Three other spots to be exact... None will offer as ideal cover, but can still be defended with similar play-style and effort.

Not camping, playing smart. Big difference.

I lol'd at the Hijacked video... That's pretty much my strategy for holding down B in Domination on that map. You should play Core Dom, you'd do very well, and rack of a crap-ton of points!

Well, it does take longer to kill a target (even with SMGs) but it also takes them longer to kill you. I think you would adjust fast. Give it a shot, you may love it. Your play-style is very well suited to holding Bravo sites, no matter which map... Well, except for Carrier. Holding B in Carrier takes a lot of luck as well as skill. Snipers and target-finders always seem to be very popular on that map.

Considering that the "FBI" outfits blend in with EVERYTHING on Carrier, it's no wonder, lol.

That's true for every game type. Randoms can cause a lot of trouble. Unfortunately, my clan isn't big enough to always have a full party available to our members when they are online. I am recruitting, and will get there eventually, but it takes time. Until then, I deal with randoms, lol. I'm thinking around 30 regular players would be ideal. This way you have enough to have one or two parties going at any hour.

Well, I hate to say it but this is indeed camping. I'd classify it as Strategical camping. The reason for this is because you keep pacing back and forth from each head glitch spot and camping the choke points. But hell man whatever works.

I've spent entire matches hot footin it, and still been called a camper. Camping's become like the slur fa**ot in this game, they both have no meaning anymore. They're just words people throw around whenever someone hands them their @$$.

This is locking down an area.

    Are you serious?

That is what I call closing the map, reduce the size of the overall map and you fight within that area, an area that gives you room to move to look behind, to be aware. Was that TDM>?
