Modded Controllers???

Posted by eXxcursioN on Dec 26, 2012 2:24 AM

Ok I have a friend that makes these things but to me they are just different paint models to suit the users likes.

I hear that modded controllers are illegal though ??

Plus I have heard people arguing whether people are using modded controllers because of how they go straight to prone and doing crazy dropshots ...

Can someone clear this topic up for me because I also see a MLG controller on Amazon for £90 that is apparently able to make you move quicker using their analog sticks.

Thanks.

I very much doubt it mate here in the uk there is all sorts of non official pads with autofire on them. The pad won't say make a smg shoot any quicker it slows it down.the only advantage is single shot guns and if you look at the old world at war game when these things srarted to hit the market more. But the game had a cap. Example set the pad to say 300 sps on a hand gun the patch in the game would just stop the gun from shoting atall. So i can only assume they have used the same patch in all there games making it pointless. There is loads of vids out there that make them look so special but in reality there not that great other than some of the desighns which look nice on some.

I don't think that a modded controller will let you become a better player or be faster! You will just waste a lot of your hard earn money! Just take a normal Xbox controller and you learn how to play the maps (for example respawns, camper locations, etc.). I promise, you will have a lot of fun and don't need a modded controller!

then you want a customized controller not a modded one.

This has been talk for a while in Call of Duty games. Under Xbox terms and guidelines, modded controllers are taboo but rapid fire controllers are fair game. In other words, you can't buy a microsoft controller, take it apart, and add a rapid fire button with a kit; but if you buy a rapid fire controller that's licensed on the market- it's ok. It's the same as a madcatz controller or any specialty controller that may just have a cool faceplate on it. Totally not worth it though, they can cost upwards of $150, and most automatics in this game trump the semis. I'd go with a sub machine any day and whoop anyone in my way.

With the latest Dashboard Updates MS wanted to get rid of the Modded Controllers.

    But as always....

moddes controllers are not to be used, however no body can detect one, especially now..

yes they got it to where the mod cant fire faster than slect fire, but mods are still useful to players to eliminate using an attachment for select fire.

so with this said, you cannot tell if someoen is technically using a mod, im sure more people in a lobby are using them then you know

The modded controllers topic was covered by the other responders.

As for the dropshots, I have an issue where I click the right stick a little too hard when I tense up in a situation (like shooting at someone).  If i use the default stick layout, I end up knifing at people from across the map. This causes me to look stupid, to have a delay before I can shoot, and usually ends up in a death.  Thus, I switch my controller layout so that clicking the right stick controls the squatting/prone and the B button now controls the knife.  By doing so, you create the "drop shot" that you mention.  When I go to shoot someone I will end up squatting down or going prone. It isn't intentional, but it does help prevent you from getting shot (sometimes), doesn't look as stupid, and also gets rid of the delay in shooting that I have when using the knife.  For me it is a no brainer. I don't do it on purpose, it is just the reaction that I have when trying to shoot people.

This is exactly what I have hapenning.  I have no choice but to drop shot, its either drop shot or knife at thin air.  I have been accused of having a modded controller because of this, but apparently there are those that dont know about the tactical stick layout.

I use the tac layout as well since the panic knife sux compared to using a knife as a secondary. I only start intentionally drop shotting if someone one the other team does it. Then I make it my main goal the rest of the game to do it for every kill just to tick their team off.

Scuff controllers are legit.  Chipped controllers are illegal.

I dont have a scuf but my son in law does so I tried iit n a couple of games yesterday, its not modded it is however Precision engineered to a high standard.

I understand they are used by pros on major leagues and I can see why, none of the slow turn nonsense with regular controllers and the sticks are far more responsive.

        Cheers

I have a Scuff and there is it really no different than a regular microsoft controller.  A scuff controller does nothing for you compared to Evil controllers(or another brand) where you pull or push one button and it does 3 things like shoot, ADS, and go prone.  Scuff controllers you have to do everything yourself and there is not computer doing anything for you.

Yes there are paddles on the back of the controller but they don't give you superhuman abilities like other modded controllers.

You are confusing a MODDED controller with a non modded controller.

    Heres one...

Heres a quote from CHAT, note that this is an XBL Employee as opposed to chatting with an XBL Ambassador who doesnt work for MS.

ME There is a peripheral called the EDITED and others like it. Are they allowed by microsoft to be used on ONLINE gameplay ? Are they considered fair to the other gamers ? For example I know MS frowns upon using licenced rapid fire controllers in online play. I do know how the policy is worded and such but this specific item(s) are of concern. I myself do not use it but would like to help others.

Conan: They are not exclusively banned from Xbox, though individual Game developers may want to ban players from their games for using such peripherals

ME that pretty much answers my question. thanks.

    Conan: No problem

ME. Is there anything else I could help you with today?

ME But you do understand that I am talking about ONLINE play of course

    Conan: Yes I do indeed.
