Does anyone even care about CoD Casting, or League play? you know, the stuff Treyarch spent so much of their efforts on?

Posted by danielbondnz on Dec 22, 2012 4:02 PM

Title sais it all, but I cant help wondering who actually cares about any of those things?

Vaahn seems to be too pre obsessed with a tiny tiny small percentage of competitive gamers.

"CoD Casting" - Don't care about it.

"League Play" - Don't care about that either.

To me, seems like a waste of time.

      What are you talking about?!

This stuff is obviously so much more important to spend time and effort on.

I mean, since they had finished their work making the most perfect connection/netcode for an online FPS ............................................................................... .........................................................

...what else were they gonna spend their time working on.

Map design did I hear you whisper.             You joker.     lol       lol

I have ALWAYS been a bigger fan of Treyarch's games and playstyle, BUT when this was announced I had to do a double facepalm. Don't get me wrong, as competitive gaming does do a lot for the gaming industry, but in all actuality it only represents about 2% of who play COD. I have been playing COD since COD1, and have had love hate relationships with a few games (MW2, MW3), mostly hate and lack of understading as to why they treked so far from a winning formula. Black Ops in my opinion was about as close to perfect as what COD should be. My ONLY complaints about that game was Second Chance, and that was only in HC game modes.

I think they invested so much time and effort into these features that they lost perspective as to WHAT makes a good multiplayer FPS game. The game has been watered down to the point of if you don't run 500 mph hip firing a laser sight SMG then you are at a disadvantage. I do like most of what Black Ops 2 has done, like making the UAV a little harder to get, and made smaller maps, BUT they also missed the mark with a lot of things, like Ghost only working when moving full speed and not ADS. They have turned COD into a one playstyle game, and this makes the game boring and repetitive very quickly.

Personally, could care less about either feature.

No HC variant in League Play? Not interested, thanks.

It seems to me that the CoD-Casting was unnecessary as well. Plenty of people already had setups for streaming games live. And quite frankly... I don't need someone telling me what is going on in game. They could have just put those tools in for spectators, makes it interesting, but I don't need some dude commentating on games. In a competitive environment, that person is already going to be established anyways. Would have been just fine as a spectator mode, not sure why they felt it was integral.

Would have liked to see the time put into a few more maps, a few more weapons, and the connectivity issues.

Personally I don't play these game modes but I do understand the logic in putting them in the game. To be fair though, once I have the season pass and can be on a team with my battle buddy in League Play, I will probably start playing the League mode a bit more

I agree - Treyarch over did League Play and CODCasting and forgot how to make basic features work - matchmaking, lag, etc. Seems like they thought League Play would be more popular than it actually is. Same with CODTV - it isn't that popular and still has lots of time spent into perfecting it.

I would like it if League Play wasn't practically pubs and was more like GB. I constantly get retarded teammates, and all the noob **** is allowed (RPGs, shock charges, etc). CoD Casting is cool for tournaments, but useless for casual playing, and if I could live stream I would.

Personally, I have never ventured into League Play and done a CODCast.

It's seems to be implemented for the 1-2% of players who play COD competitively whilst I like to play public matches for my personal entertainment & to chill out with friends.

Reason I don't enter League Play is due to the lack of players (especially within NZ/AUS) and if there is lack of players, I could end up in a lobby across the world and we know connection determines winning/losing gunfights.

None of my friends care about League Play. I was interested in Solo league at first. Then I found out that it was not a pure solo league. It allows you to party up and be ranked solo which is pretty dumb and makes 0 sense from a league point of view.

It should be groups of randoms vs group of randoms since they are all ranked solo. Solo means 1.

Same thing bewildered me about MW3 and Lone Wolf challenges. People partying up to do Lone Wolf challenges makes is not so Lone Wolf.

Until they fix it I won't participate.

I was thinking of COD Casting before BO2 was released. I haven't touched it yet and I have no plans to do so. All i want them to do is fix the lag and the inconsistencies on the game. I don't care about the bells and whistles when the core of the game is flawed with lag.

The dumb Cod Casting is probs a big reason for the lag because you have so many idiots using it and they have like 3 people watching but we all have to suffer because of them.

I dont understand at all why 3arc made such a huge emphasis on competitive play. League play gets no more than 1,500 players at its PEAK traffic. No one plays it. Same thing happened in BO1 with the competitive playlist, which had even less traffic. I only played League Play to get the achievement, and it was extrememly frustrating. I only used CODcasting once to try it out. Live Streaming is so broken, and destroys your framerates, and can ONLY be done in LeaguePlay. To be honest, 3arc absolutley dropped the ball with their new competitive play ordeal they've tried to lay on us here. Same thing goes with their new direction on snipers... but well thats a whole different thing in itself.

i would only care about those things if they could actually build a competive game not one that caters to casuals. this game takes not one ounce of ability.  blind men could play and win.

i'm not really interested in codcasting... i'm not even really sure what that is...

league play is something that i'd be doing, if you could have ranked up weapons and everything. maybe once i'm done with prestiging and ranking up weapons, i'll visit league play.

I like league play because I hate owning noobs over and over... Makes the game boring and fast. I know a lot of people just want to kill newbies over and over but I don't. Finally people like me have somewhere to play that we wont completely stomp. If you want casual, you have pub matches.

As far as the COD casting thing, I could do without.

Unless you are in a party. The way the matchamaking works is they base the skill off the party leader. Say you have a party of 6 and 5 of them have a 3.0 K/D and 300+ SPM, and the leader has a K/D of .5 and a SPM of 50. The matchmaking system will match them to the party leaders stats making a VERY lopsided match. This is how some "clans" exploit the matchmaking feature to their advantage.

Lol it’s loosely based in pub matches.. Sorry but when I go into a FFA for example carrying 2.40 K/d and a dude gets dropped in with a .98 kd I wouldn’t call that a good match.

Whereas League play has matched me against players that are purely around my rank.

"In an effort to dispel some of the mysteries surrounding this feature, Activision has released a document on their support site that details exactly what processes Black Ops 2′s matchmaking system goes through in order to effectively match people based on certain criteria. However, the article does not cover the skill-based matchmaking of League Play, which matches players more strictly on skill rank."

So again, if you wanna run around beating on newbies be my guest but I love league play.

        .

        Here’s an article:

    Nope.

Would just like to do something more entertaining in this game other than shoot down UAVs and blow myself up with my own frag grenades (trying to hit 100 deaths is actually a bit of a challenge).

they say not enough players for more game modes in hc, yet theres always more in one of the 4 modes than in all league play

If the game wasn't as connection sensitive I would give it a go (same with the map packs) the game's just too inconsistent to waste more time/money in something that may/may not work

think it needs to be advertised a bit more, to get people into the leagues. maybe double xp on leagues? i like playing them but the lack of people does cause some queue times.

I agree with Ellixander. i will not touch league play while the Lag/lagcomp/hitdetection problems are still at large as they are now. Why play in a gametype with even less people so the connection can be even worse to try and do good in league play.  There is no way
