I have ALWAYS been a bigger fan of Treyarch's games and playstyle, BUT when this was announced I had to do a double facepalm. Don't get me wrong, as competitive gaming does do a lot for the gaming industry, but in all actuality it only represents about 2% of who play COD. I have been playing COD since COD1, and have had love hate relationships with a few games (MW2, MW3), mostly hate and lack of understading as to why they treked so far from a winning formula. Black Ops in my opinion was about as close to perfect as what COD should be. My ONLY complaints about that game was Second Chance, and that was only in HC game modes.
I think they invested so much time and effort into these features that they lost perspective as to WHAT makes a good multiplayer FPS game. The game has been watered down to the point of if you don't run 500 mph hip firing a laser sight SMG then you are at a disadvantage. I do like most of what Black Ops 2 has done, like making the UAV a little harder to get, and made smaller maps, BUT they also missed the mark with a lot of things, like Ghost only working when moving full speed and not ADS. They have turned COD into a one playstyle game, and this makes the game boring and repetitive very quickly.
