Okay here is a basic overview after countless hours of searching and playing zombies. Your rank/emblem in zombies goes up each time you get to high rounds such as 20+ and it can also go up by being a team player such as getting a TON of revives as well as getting A LOT of kills. Now the problem is that your rank can go down in many ways. For example if you do terrible in a game such as dying on low rounds 10 or below or you don't revive teammates or you just plain suck and get less than 10 kills then your rank will go down. Another way that it goes down is if you quit a lot of games and don't play them through which I'm sure you have already experienced. In addition to that, I found out that you have to play 1 full match of zombies at least once a week because today I found out that EACH week you don't play zombies your rank goes down by 1 tally mark. So basically Treyarch has made zombies interesting to where you have to keep coming back and do well in order to keep your rank such as skulls with blue eyes. I hoped this helped and trust me I am sure there's more info on the ranking system but I still have yet to figure it out.

I don't know, we played a match made it to 36 on tranzit, I had 1000+ to 1 k/d and my bf had 2000 to 1 k/d and our rank didn't change, we are skulls with five tally marks and blue eyes... do you think treyarch will EVER explain this?

In order to get tally marks, you must play once a week. The question is, how do you rank up your emblem.

Zombie ranking system explained:

I know HOW THE RANKING SYSTEM WORKS, except for one thing. I hope to find that last part in discussion on this forum.

The TALLY MARKS represent how much you've played in the last five days.When you have five marks and blue eyes, it tells that you don't have a social life and you have played each of the last five days.

The SKULL WITH DAGGER is really simple to get, if you know how. I know you've heard many theories about it, and most of em are crap: it has nothing to do with reviving, headshots, highest round, overall score on your leaderboard,... . What you need, and this is several times tested by myself on different accounts, i'm sure about it: you need to have a kill/down ratio of 70+, and minimum 5000 kills on your overall leaderboard. If you don't believe me: test it yourself, and you will see. What i have to say is that it can cost some time to change the emblem. One time i gained the dagger immediatly when k/d = 70+ and i had at least 5000k, another time it appeared one day later.

notes from the writer:

1. Like i've said, you don't need to REVIVE much for your emblem. There's a reason why you better do it: if you don't, you'll loose youre perma-quick revive. And its better for the teammates, so for the team, so for yourself. PERMA QUICK REVIVE is gained by reviving the same player 10 - 12 times in one game.

2. You don't need to make much HEADSHOTS, but you better do it: otherwise you'll loose youre perma-deadshot daiquiri: if you have it, you have to make each round at least one headshot, otherwise it will disappear. PERMA DEADSHOT DAIQUIRI is gained by killing 2-3 zombies with one single headshot.

3. IRON WINDOWS: once you have em, you need to build at least one window each round, otherwise you'll loose em. To gain them you need to build 50 planks in one game.

The skull with TWO SHOTGUNS is still a mystery for me, but i think it must be in the same line as all of the above: k/down ratio combined with a minimum of kills. I heard of some shotgun-emblemmed players that you need a K/D-ratio of 150. But i have a K/D ratio of 160 and nothing happended. I suppose i need to make more kills (i have now 12 000+ kills).

If someone has interesting information about this subject that i don't, please reply.

I've recently tried to experiment a little with the ranking system in Black Ops 2, and have yet to find any solution

I'm as of right now, "Skull with knife, 5 tally blue eyes". I will write my stats below, and afterwards, explain a little bit of what I do, which unfortunatelly is just a theory.

As you can see, these are my stats. My K/D is 221.5, ( 21045 / 95 = ).
So the ranking might aswell be K/D rated aswell as overall rated, like everybody says. But as I see it, the ranking is also your performance throughout gaming. How well did you do last round compared to this round. Last round I came to, lets say, round 25, so I'd maybe want to try for higher, to push up my rank, but when that's said, I think it takes more than a couple matches to do that.

I always try to beat my last match, due to revives, kills per downs, doors and perks. I stopped with the grenade kills, cause it risks too much of your gaming, unless having sticky and instakill.

Also, your tally marks will decrease every 24th hour not being online. So 1 day offline, 1 tally down. 5 days offline, no tally marks at all. Also, your rank emblem CANNOT decrease, no matter how bad you do in a match. I've tried it myself, getting 500 downs in one match, not killing a single, just to test it out, and nothing happened, I didn't even fall in tally. Yet I then played another round just for ***** and giggles on my test account, and it gained "Skull with knifes right after", which kinda proves K/D obviously isn't based on your rank.

I am going to ask this risking to look like a dumbass .  I have two bones and have had two bones for a long ass time i play damn near every day and i do fairly well not great by any means but i do ok .  I just want my damn skull how do i get to that is there something i could do by teaming up with my buddy or something? I need help i just want to be accepted in to groups instead of having people back out just because i have two skulls!!!

I got the skull at 2,000 kills and the knife through the skull at around 6,500 kills!

My K/D is 149.77

Average round 23

Average kills per game is 500

Average revives per game is 3

Average headshots per game is 150

I started a new account to try to get the shotguns and it only took me 4 days to get the knife through the skull, I am hoping to have the shotguns in the next day or two.

The game I got the knife through the skull on, I only had 550 kills, but I also went down 3 times
