PS3: Tracking hard lock/freeze information. [Post 1.03 Patch]

Patch Notice

The latest patch was distributed on 11/17/2012.

Goal of the Thread

- Collect information regarding the console freezing/locking.

- Create reproducible steps if possible.

- Document individual cases.

Notice: Do not intentionally put your console at risk. If this occurs, then please report it here.
Notice: Posts that deviate from the below will be removed.

 

We need you to recount what happened when you encounter a freeze or temporary lock up. This is not a server lock up which is currently defined by the community as matchmaking failing to balance teams or displaying an error within your session.

 

Mandatory Information to Include

- What type of PS3 do you have.

- Any user modifications to your console.

- When and where does this happen.

- What region you are in + Blu-Ray Code

 

 

Optional Information to Include

- Any video of the documented issue.

- If you have opened up a support ticket with Activision Customer Support [Yes or No]

 

 

Example

I've attempted the system restore.

I've installed the texture files.

I have an SSD in place of an HDD.

 

  1. I'm prompted with a patch.
  2. I load up. (I have load to MP selected)
  3. I enter matchmaking.
  4. I attempt to play a game.
  5. We get through the game.
  6. The final killcam happens.
  7. Freeze

 

Please understand that this example is not to be entirely accurate or representative of your issues. It's just a mock up.

 

Anything we consider off topic or unhelpful will be deleted. This is a problem solving thread. Not a complaints platform.

    yes everything is working fine besides whenever i go to multiplayer it freezes and ive owned like all of the other COD games b4 this one and never  had any of these problems.... i have a ps3 slim... multiplayer keeps freezing and i have to reboot my system during multiplayer only problem

    1. i go to mp

    2. enter matchmaking

    3. finds a match

    4. im not able to play more than 3 rounds on the 3rd round it freezes and i have to reboot

    just retryed dident get past loading screen for tranzit had to reset and now this is wat i get with b.ops 2

    thx treyarch realy have killed my ps3   took me about 7 times of reloading cd to get it to show proper

    When trying to play tranzit mode in zombies and sometimes  in any zombies match

    - When and where does this happen : It happens everywhere. When I start up the game, IF the game have started it can freeze during the welcome movies. If I get past the movies, it freezes when I select Multiplayer in the menu. IF I get past all this, sometimes it freezes when loading 1st, 2nd or 3rd match. If the loading works fine, you can bet your money that it will freeze either during the match or when the matchlobby is trying to load after the match is over... All of these are hard freezes that will require a reboot. I have had to sessions where everything worked fine, and I was able to play several matches and finally turned off the console as usual when done..

    - What region you are in + Blu-Ray Code : I live in Norway, don't know how to get the BD code.

     

    I have opened a ticket with the support on chat. First I waited for 2 hours to start the chat, and we tried different ways to fix the problem, none of them worked. I was told that my ticket was sent to the superiors of the person I was talking to. And that I would get a email with sollutions within 1 day. This was on the 15th and I have still not got any response. I have also entered new information and asked for an answer, but still.. No response..

     

    Since the game refuses to start a few of the times I try, I suspect that it is the CD itself that is the problem. I am also afraid that I will break my console if I continue to do all these hard reboots..

    ive been having problems with black ops 2 freezeing my system

    i have a 120gb ps3 slim

    i have no mods to console

    keeps freezing at start up, load screens and most time dont even load game up at all freezes before loads title screen ive tryed on multiple systems...250gb slim ....freezes to on tranzit and multiplayer loading screens.

    since playing black ops 2 ive got a currupt data screen for the first time since ive owned ps3(both systems)

    every other game ive got works fine and dont freeze at all

    the game since update 1.03 dont play at all freezes before title screen everytime

    there are no scratches on disk

    i make case with customer support as soon as they open

    if you know how fix pease reply me

    • Console type: PS3 Orginal 320 gig system with Sony Software 4.31
    • Modifications to console :    NO
    • Blue Ray code:  BlUS31011  with patch 1.03
    • Nat Type: Open
    • I have set a DMZ on my router to open all ports for the ps3 ..all are open i checked
    • Wired Internet connection

    When my console freezes

    1. Turn On my PS3
    2. Log into my PSN account
    3. Select COD BO II from the game menu (ps3 XMB)
    4. I see the call of duty black ops II logo appear in the lower right hand corner
    5. I freeze
    6. I have to turn the power off to my PS3 to reboot it

     

    when i take the steps above i freeze up 100% of the time

     

    Another Scenario

     

    1. Turn my Ps3 on
    2. select COD BO II from the XMB game menu
    3. AT the Main Menu select MultiPlayer
    4. Connect to the Playstation Netwotk
    5. Select Play Online from the Multiplayer Menu
    6. wait while it tries to connect to the servers
    7. screen goes black for a second then i am returned to the MultiPlayer main menu
    8. get an error msg that reads Black OP II servers are not avaliable
    9. I give up and and decide to play the campaign or zombie mode
    10. I select Main Menu from the multiplayer main menu screen
    11. I see the call of duty BO II logo in the lower right hand corner
    12. My system freezes up
    13. I have to turn the power off to reboot the ps3

     

     

    This will lock my PS3 up 100% of the time

     

    The Multi Player  version number i see when doing the second scenario is either 22.0.-1 or 22.0.-4

     

    My system freezes are only happening if i am connected to the Playststion Network  so i know its a communication of data problem somewhere

    here is my

    Internet Info ......maybe that will be helpful

     

    ISP: Charter Internet

    Speed : 30meg up 4 meg down  normal ping test 25mls or less

    Modem: Cisco DPC 3010

    Router: Netgear R6300

     

    FYI   MW3, Black Ops, Battlefeild3, Motorstorm and an array of other games give me no problem going online with and play great

    1 starts mp

    2 middle of the match legg I sometimes

    3 conection interupted

    4 freeze

    and this happened to me today all 4x
