This Game Needs Footsteps (enemy team is silent without DS)

the fact that footsteps are even more quiet than Halo 4 is a tad much. Vahn said that footsteps are only 1 aspect of hearing players though and that since players run with a lot of metal on them we will hear the clink clink of the metal... Well haven't heard that yet either. The only thing audible is a very loud reload animation.

 

Awareness literally does nothing. At the same time dead silence is a completely useless perk. Both those perks have no place in the game right now the way footsteps are.

 

Black Ops 1 had this problem at launch. hopeing they recognize this and fix it.

 

And for those who might be like ohh dude your just made you can sound whore... Not really. I'm just frustrated that i feel like I'm deaf. It leaves me completely vulnerable when spawns flip. Countless times already I have killed someone only to be ninja knifed by someone without dead silence on.

 

CoD needs footsteps. It always has and always will. People without headsets even benifit. Running around without worry of being heard without the use of dead silence is in my opinion not balanced.

    there is footsteps in the game i hear them all the time , with a headset and without one .

    What headset are you using?  If they are Stereo, did you choose the Stereo headset option in the Settings Menu?

    I agree.
    You shouldn't have to use a perk to at least hear something with a good gaming headset.
    I've been listening as much as I can, and all I hear is the map itsself and people reloading when they're really close.
    I could hear footsteps perfectly fine without Ninja(Pro) in Black Ops 1, and I could hear everything perfectly fine in Modern Warfare 3, so why is Black Ops 2 different?
    Maybe the preset mix has to be changed in order to hear better?

        Thanks! Finally an official answer! Just saying to play this game you need headsets? cause i dont have!  Hope they fix it in next TU

    I have XP500's, still can't hear anything, used to getting 2.5 kd every game, now i'm lucky to go positive. i need sound.

    mad sound whores everywhere ... the games fine and plays smooth i really hope they leave it how it is. Search feels like it should and i can hear footsteps fine no problems just when they are near me not on the other side of the map. I think thats why you people think you cannot hear anyone thats because you need to be near some one to hear them .. like in real life ... not super mans hearing assistant perk add on.

     

    on a side not o love it how with every one its just foot steps ... sorry guys but ... HEAD SETS ARE NOT MADE TO LISTEN TO FOOTSEPS LOL ...   its for fun immersive 3d sound ...

    No it truly sucks a two hundred pound man running at full speed you will hear quite a ways off not right when he ninja shanks you from behind what's the point of having a 200 dollar headset so you can listen to your teem mates reload or when a sticky is going off no it's to have a auditorial advantage ie from the right or left in front or from behind they have to fix this or they can buy my hardend edition back because this is crap on top of all of the other problems I have already experienced very disappointed......!!!!! On top of that guns ADS is terrible more accurate hip firing....!!!!! Sub machine guns are more accurate and powerful WTF....!!!! Fix it quick or there will be a slew more of pissed off people talking mad crap on this game I already want to snap the disk in half and just go back to a true FPS platform in MW2....!!!!!

    Yeeeeeh BoPs 2 eats shiiiiit, I've got x42s and all I hear are my own footsteps awareness don't do ****, who needs dead silence when you can't be heard anyway, the developers of this pitiful excuse of a game should be shot lol, but in all honesty this game is pathetic my k.d in all the past cods hover around the 2.3 but bops 2 its like 1.40 so what does that tell you? Treyarch talks about being realistic? Really? Bunch of nerd need to take of they're blind folds during the developing stages and realise they've got each others dicks in they're hands but all in all if I had one wish I'd like to meet me someone from treyarch so I can punch him in the face. **** TREYARCH......... INFINITY WARD FOR LIFE.......... no wonder they're head developers ****** of to work for EA hahahahah

    I can hear enemy footsteps but only when they are close. It's not like MW3 where you can sound whore a mile away. The game caters to Run N Gun players, so players camping and sound whoring no longer can do a quick 180 drop shot.

    Let me start by saying this is a decent Call of Duty. Though I personally think the audio is off in this game. By that I mean enemy foot steps are like a mouse, that’s understandable if the enemy is crouched and creeping up behind you but when an enemy player is sprinting by with a heavy LMG and ammo belt and it’s like a mouse we have an issue. Take the map “Aftermath” a very large map; I can hear grenades going off across the map better than I can an enemy player with an LMG sprinting like a 300lb. linebacker. Turning up the volume to full blast doesn’t change the problem it’s only sweeping things under the rug. Again, a very good game just needs some modifications to the sound.

    The amount of times I've run up behind people, jumped up and down and then knifed them suggests there is a problem. Must admit it's happened to me a few times and didn't hear anything, and I've got a very good 5.1 surround system.

     

    I used Awareness to get the calling card this week, only thig that was louder and alerted me to the enemy was the sound of reloading. I don't expect something as OP as SitRep Pro, but something that works would be nice.

    I can hear footsteps just fine on my a50s. Not talking about teammates since I play a lot of ffa.

    Enemy footsteps are inaudible for me even with Awareness on and I use a top end headset.

     

    Black Ops and MW3 had the sound much better.

      As the above poster mentioned for me with my px5's with awareness used as a perk enemy footsteps are mostly inaudible but only on certain surfaces on certain maps( i mostly play FFA).

       

      I really do think thay they deliberately cut down the level of enemy footstep sound for this game after the overpowered sitrep pro from MW3 and really do feel they have no intention of upping the sound level of enemy footsteps. I could be wrong but i just dont think they will in any future patch.

        Agreed,

         

        I think they removed enemy footsteps on purpose to cater to run n gunners. That is the way the franchise has gone I'm afraid.
