How Many Times Do I Have To Prestige...

Posted by Gh0sted76 on Oct 25, 2012 10:34 AM

I tried looking for past threads but I couldn't find out how many times we have to prestige to unlock all the items. I heard that you can unlock an item each rank and there are 55 ranks per prestige and a hundred items. Does that mean I only have to prestige once and max out prestige 2 to have all items excluding emblems unlocked? I don't want to max prestige like the previous 2 games cause I got totally burnt out doing it. I'm gonna be playing MoH Warfighter a lot too so CoD is gonna take a back seat this year, I just want to unlock everything and play casually. If anyone knows I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

There are 10 prestiges. To unlock everything you have to Prestige all ten times.

really? thats kind of lame imo. hopefully all the OP stuff is unlocked early like in all the other cod games so i dont have to prestige that much.

Is prestiging tied to additional class loadouts?  As much as I'd hate not having every single weapon, I could live without a few if I had to (like I did in Gotham City Impostors, only promoted once) but I definitely need every class loadout they will gie me.

It also depends on how punishing I feel the leveling is.  I only prestiged once in WaW and BO but 5 times in MW3.  Gotham City was the most painful leveling experience for me, so getting to 200 was more than enough, no way in hell would I push for 1000.  Right now I am so excited for BO2 I want to go straight to 10.

After every prestige, you get to take one piece of equipment over with you, like in MW3. However, you also get one token to spend on one of the three following options:

        1. Extra custom class

        2. Reset all stats

        3. Get back a previous token (on equipment) that has already been used

For example, I could choose to take the MTAR with me, and get an extra custom class if I want.

        Hope that helped you!

I don't understand? If your items don't reset than why would you need to take the MTAR with you?

The only thing that frustrates me about this is due to our first child being born a month after the release I highly doubt I'll be able to play as much as I do now.  Heck, I've played 200 hours less on MW3 than BO, with only about 390 hours in on MW3.  I'm guessing my playing time will be around 250 hours or less for this title.

On the other hand I most likely won't use at least a third of the stuff I'd unlock on a regular basis, anyway, so maybe I won't miss it.  And who knows, with me switching from days to nights and from full time to part time to be a stay at home dad I might get more playing time once we get past the 'newborn' stage.

Now that I've rambled about all this I realize that 390 hours is still under 8 hours per week, so I suppose it is possible to play that much....even with a baby around (at least I hope, haha.)

Casual players should never have the same perks as regular players.  I like the fact that you have to earn your way on BO2.

The new unlocking system is the only thing I don't like about black ops 2.  If I could put in the time like I used to be able to, the new unlocking system wouldn't bother me so much.

I really don't care, as long as we don't have to prestige more like MW3

I think prestiging is the most stupidest thing ever I mean the first time I did it I was like wtf because I didn't read the info stuff before prestiging someone was like prestige already so I was like ok how do I do that they told me how then I did and wow lost everything that's stupid I'm like wtf really. Just for emblem and stuff I always wondered before how everyone had different emblems and stuff and then when I ask I wished I didn't ask.

Well that sums that up my first experience prestiging and to think about it it's kinda like sex you think it's a good idea until she becomes prego then your like wtf how did that happen Wwwhhhhyyyyy ( just joking )

I stopped reading at "most stupidest".

Prestiging is fun for those of us who enjoy challenge. You don't have to do it.

When you've had enough prestiging can make it fun again there's nothing like running around with no stinger and hardline on lol

I don't prestige for ages then just do it for the challenge of having the basics

yep i didn't read em I thought "oh some stupid restriction thing or something" like for campaign for the graphics. I think it said something like ( _continue_) then next (-no going back are you sure-) and I'm like whatever at that point and prestiged.
