Why do people call good players tryhards?

This has been an ongoing problem since MW2 and it is getting worse. I mean is this supposed to make a player feel bad? I personally find it annoying, but it doesn't get me mad at all. In fact I just laugh it off and tell them to start trying hard themselves. Especially, quick scopers, they ***** and complain so much when someone runs up to them with the so called "regular gun." Since when is a gun considered regular or irregular? Like WTF? QuickScopers try just as hard to get a kill but obviously fail the majority of the time. There are a few snipers out there that are extremely beast, and I give them big props. But for those who think they can quickscope and want to call other players tryhards, I have advice for you; drop the sniper and use a different weapon. I won't stop tryharding because you are trysofting. x-JAZMIN-x
Tryhards are anyone that use the easy weapons to get kills, such as the ACR or MP7 and rush around the map going for the most kills trying hard to get the higher ksr. In many cases those same try hards cost the match because while they are getting kills they are not really helping to attack or defend and objective. So though they may think they are helping the team win, in the end they are not.
In TDM tryhards are those that use the easy weapons and camp for kills to get their ksr instead of moving about. Use a MP7 or ACR and camp in a corner to get a high ksr and you are a tryhard.
Tryhards are not the good players or the better players in most cases, in fact they are usualy the ones doing bad on their team while thinking they are doing good for their team.
Hmm, so you you must work for webster.com?
Tryhard is a term given by defeated opponents, as a last ditch effort to elicit a response from the superior player.
If somebody calls me a Tryhard for winning, I will laugh and continue owning.

Enough said. I totally agree.
To me, if I were ever to use the term (which I wouldn't), it would mean that the player is resorting to "easy mode" and douche tactics to win. MP7/Motion Sensor/C4 combos, Drop-shotting at the slightest hint of a conflict, trying to (in their own words), "roll" the lobby (yes I've actually heard people say that).
Basically when someone takes the game from "I'm playing to win" to "I have to try and prove I'm above everyone else", I would consider them a "try hard". You can play to win and enjoy the game. There's nothing wrong with that. But when your goal goes from wanting to win, to wanting to prove your superiority over everyone else, then you're approaching doucheland and it's time to stop.
Good examples kastro. I agree with how you put it.
Interesting. What is this so called "easy mode?" Isn't a weapon considered easy for the person using it. So in that case everyone is a tryhard since the use the weapon that allows them the easiest kills. Some may prefer snipers while some may resort to a shotgun. It all depends on the player.
It's no secret that there are certain weapons in the game that make it much easier. MP7 vs MP5 for instance, ACR vs M4. There are also certain things that you can use to make it easier to find enemies. The Motion Sensor for instance, or HBS. Both make it very easy to get the jump on enemies.
Those that decide to switch to the easy weapons and start employing douchey tactics are the ones I would suggest are "try hards". It's a combination of set-up, attitude, and play style that determine it. It's not just one individual thing.
Yea there are motion sensors and HBS in the game because there are ways to defeat that. For example, you can use asassin so you won't be seen on those devices. Call of duty makes its weapons and equipment while keeping in mind what will defeat it. Another example is people that use riot shield. Yes it can be annoying, but a C4, semtex, or RPG can easily kill them. It's all about the way you set your classes because every opponent is different.
I like Urban Dictionary's entry:
"A face-saving insult used by someone who is feeling inadequate. Basically accuses anyone who is better than them at anything of putting in effort. Doubles as an excuse for sucking by implying lack of effort on the speaker's part."
Hehe in a way this is true. The majority of the time when someone says "tryhard" it is a way to make the player who won to feel bad.
Didn't you know? You're supposed to stand out in the open for these people and not shoot them. Duuuhhhhhhh! ! ! If you do shoot them, then they start crying. Same thing goes for people crying about a gun that is used too much. The way I see it, if you actually care more about WHAT killed you vs WHO and WHERE THEY WERE when they killed you, then you need to return the game and never play FPS ever again.
But, that'll never happen.
Have to agree on this. It is not the gun but the person using the gun that makes it powerful. Even the easy FMG's can be countered easily if you pay attention.
Exactly. You made the best point so far. People complain about me using an SMG; especially snipers. So then they comeback saying, "I am going tryhard next round," which according to them its using a SMG that makes you a tryhard. But than it turns out they are worse using a SMG than using a sniper. So its pretty much who can be good with the weapon. I've seen beast snipers, but that doesn't mean its the gun, its the person using it.
Bingo.
Haha, yea we are supposed to stand in the middle of the road where a sniper can get a good aim. Not to mention we are not supposed to kill them when we see them, just stand and await your death. LOL people are too funny/
I agree with you who doesn't want to do good in the game?? I think they call tryhard anybody who uses, ACR, MP7, they call them tryhards because they're playing with what they think it's an inferior gun. I'm a tryhard and I use whatever gun I feel like, if it's in the game then it's fair to use it. I don't stop using a certain gun just because people think i'm a tryhard lol
Same here buddy ![]()
They do it for the same reasons jock types pick on nerd types, jealousy
You damage their ego in front of their friends and feel must try to belittle you
it's human nature
If you're not peeing people off your not playing right lol
True. Can you imagine how some people feel like when its a girl that just owned them. OMG I hear all kind of insults, especially the "Hey you must be fat and ugly with no friends." Haha so funny because none of that is true, its just I belittled them in a so called mans game.
the girls are just as good as the fellas lol
in fact less screaming from the girls than boys now i think about it
Not really. I argue a lot.
