Girl Gamers?

Okay, so I'm a girl gamer.. but I really dont like it when girls make it completely obvious that they're girls (like in their gamertags or clan tags, etc). I mean, its cool and all that you play videogames, but when you make it that apparent that you're a girl its like you're just asking for attention.

Ummm... Yeh. Playing a game full of prepubescent teens that don't wander outside to meet actual girls then advertising your a girl equals attention.
Unfortunately that's just the way it is. But I have no qualms with the girls that advertise they are girls as it is who they are.
What I find funny is that as soon as the lobby realizes there is a girl in it they start acting all tough and what not. Lol. Like they are gonna get a date or something. At least it's free entertainment for me. To each their own though.
They crave attention because they aren't social enough in real life.

Think the word hypocrite makes sense in this post.
You didnt have to mention you were a girl to get this discussion started.
Just like you mentioned you were a girl in your introduction post.
Are you making it THAT apparent for attention ? or what ?
Unhelpful Starbuck comment #388
Not really. The OP is trying to distance herself from girl gamers who make it obvious that they are girls, yet the first line of her post says "I'm a girl gamer"...
I know she is talking about online gaming, and this is a forum, but the same rules apply...
Does she want special treatment? Why mention it?
Yea but if she didn't mention she was a girl, wouldn't that have made it seem sexist?
The only reason I did mention it was to stte the fact that my own gamertag is not like that.
So because I chose the gamertag n2winlisa I am asking for it. Please, give me a break why because I am a girl I should not use my name when have the people on xbox use there name in some form. I chose my gamertag because it is my name and it gets to the point. I am in the game to win the game. Your post it just out and out bad. Now when a girl makes there tag something like sexycandi1, Now they are asking for it. But not someone who just wants to have there name in there tag
Lol my GT is my name, so is my GF's.
If a girl makes their gamertag sexycandi1, I assume they are sexy and that is pretty cool.
I can't even tell if these little kids on the game are guys or girls. My GF got and Xbox and she made her gamertag her name, my gamertag is just my name too. a lot of girls like to flirt and talk loud on Xbox, it's annoying because they are probably ugly anyway. Not all, but the ones that make it so obvious.
I love all female gamers and females. It doesnt make a difference to me if they want the extra attention or not.
I actually prefer to play with girls and if they can let me know through their gamertag that they are girls I would probably prefer that lol.
I feel bad for online girl gamers tbh. They are a tiny minority and if they ever reveal themselves in a lobby/match they are generally brutally verbally sexually harassed just because of their gender. I always try to be nice and casual when talking to girl gamers, and not a total douche or creep.
You should treat girl gamers the same as any other gamer...
With the same respect you would like others to treat you with...
I would like to see more female gamers. If you make your gamer tag sound "girly", who cares what other people think. I recently got my GF to play COD and join my clan, she's been at the top 3 of a leader board a few times, her gamertag isn't girly. Although sometimes I wish it was, she doesn't use a mic and I would love to hear these people rage when she's getting the last kill. lol
i have a female friend with a girly GT and she quite often kicks butt and gets the occasional hassle saying its not her playing lol,in fact she even changed her motto to "you got shot by a girl" ![]()
i have 'Miss' in my clan tag, but i dont do it for attention
.Most guys start on me when they hear me speak in the lobby anyway (then they get even more mad when i destroy them lol)
Men dont like getting beat by a girl lol
Its very annoying to hear the attention-depraved girls in lobbies go "HEY EVERYONE, IM A GIRL. PAY ATTENTION TO ME".
I'll play with anyone, I dont care what gender you are. A girl outscored me? I really dont care. Just stop trying to use Xbox live as a medium to gain attention, and play the damn game.
It may sound weird, but while playing I dont see people as girls/guys. I just see them as other players.
As J brought up, I respect everyone I meet online. Until you start to bug me. Then I mute you.
What do I think? I think I'm female, and I'll choose whatever name (within TOS of course) I want to because I can. ![]()
Seriously though...when I first started out playing COD, I was online with my husband. I took the "Mrs." form of his name and it eventually got shortened to Mrs. G. I recently changed it for the clan, but I can assure you that I could care less if others know I'm female or not. As soon as they hear my voice they are going to know I'm female anyway. So what difference does it make if they know a few seconds before I speak? Some are going to harrass you regardless of whether your name proclaims you as female, just because you sound like one. So I pick the name I want and to hell with what others think about it or what I'm 'trying' to do. *shrugs* JMO of course.
