Why the Riot Shield will not be  OP like some think

Posted by MoonMan36 on Aug 9, 2012 11:23 PM

If you look closely at the MP reveal, when the CLAW is shooting at the guy who set it down from behind, the riot shield actually gets knocked down. It looks as if when you place the riot shield down, it may seem like its getting driven into the ground, but its actually only being palced down. Hopefully this isnt just something the CLAW/Heavy Artillery can do, but grenades and such also can do. If you look closely, you can see the "legs" of the riot shield while its on the ground holding it up. If this is true, the enemy couldnt just stay posted behind and indestructible, immovable shield.  It also looks as if the hole people are saying you can shoot through is coverd by glass (I could be wrong but thats just what it looks like to me) and would only serve purpose as to spot enemys while crouched behind the shield  once you set it up. If anyone can confirm/deny the info on the hole in the shield people claim you can shoot through that would be great, but figured I would atleast point out something that it seemed people missed from the reveal trailer.

The "hole" everyone is talking about with the Assault Shield is a misconception. In the trailer, the Assault shield is placed down and a player looks through a glass window. Then immediately the screen switches to a player firing through what looks like a closed-off square hole. There is no hole in the Assault shield. He is actually using the Holographic Sight on his AN-94, which happen to be very obstructive.
