Has this happened to you? RPG missle disappearing mid death.

Sometimes I'll get caught off guard(happens to everybody), a few times I'll have quick draw on and try to fire a RPG round mid death(if that makes sense?) to hopefully take the enemy down with me. Well the round will go off, I won't Get a hit marker let alone a kill, somehow the RPG round magically disappears or absorbs into the ground or some other object. I find this to be somewhat strange?
I think that this has been happening since MW2.
Its weird. I don't use tubes or rockets very often unless I am going for a challenge. But it seems to me that if I kill someone shooting a rocket or launching a tube... their rocket or tube will still find me. But if I am the one shooting the rocket or tube... it disappears after I die.
It's strange, at the very least there should be a hit marker so my teammate can get the kill and I get the assist.
According to the kill cam, did you actually fire the round?
Kill cams aren't 100% accurate so I can't judge by that. I can fire a round in game but the kill cam might not show the way it actually happned(round going off).
I know from experience that I will hear a round go off, feel it go off when I shoot, only to have the kill cam appear as if nothing happened at all.
Does that not mean that your shot did not register with the host before you died?

This is what I call "RPG Mysteries" lol. Crazy things have always happened with RPG's. It seems almost purposeful. Example. I had a dude sniping on Underground the other day hiding behind a car. So I thought well im blastin this car with an RPG. As I ran into position to last this car I chuckled and thougth take this you f n sniper lol. So I aim at the very center of the car and what does my RPG do? Goes rigth thru the front passenger side window and out the front drivers side window and doesnt touch any other part of the car. Needless to say I died.
Isn't it lag...?
You may see it in your prespective (also has happened to me many times as I use to run RPG all the time for the lulz in MW2 and some in Blops.) but it wouldn't be picked up by the host?
I know someone who goes into that type of thing will answer it but I think its just lag.

A currently temporarily banned member of the forum recently explained this phenomenon.
The shots you have fired, be they from a gun or a launcher, are cancelled once you are killed. There's some sort of logic behind this, but I don't recall it offhand.
Sounds like terrible logic since Nades work fine, but I understand it in a way.

I said guns & launchers. You don't pull a trigger to use a grenade.
yes had it happen to me , sometimes it disappears othertimes hit marker or payback kill. sometimes when i respawn i can see the smoke trail but the rpg never hit anything or registered.
I asked Mark Ruben on twitter about this awhile back and apparently it's NOT ment to happen . If you fire off a RPG and die while it's in mid flight it's not ment to disappear .
I thought the opposite was true as it ALWAYS happened apart from the throwing knife where if it's still in the air when you die it doesn't disappear and if it hits your target you get the kill and this is the way it's ment to work for RPGs etc but it never does ?? They always dissapear ! Wierd !

Well, next time you twitter him, let him know they have a serious problem if that's not supposed to happen because RPGs, SMAWs, and GLs have been disappearing after being killed since the release of this game! I never said anything because I thought it was supposed to do that.
this crap happens to me all the time with tubes. it started happening so much that i consider it a normal thing now. i just didnt expect it to be happening with the RPG as well, THAT is wierd.
This happens to me all the time, I get the shot of and die, missile just dissapears.
I find that my bullets disappear a lot even before I die. Why would it be any different for launchers? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it has something to do with lag.
its the timing of your shot compared to the shots of ur enemy, iv had this so so so many times i expect it. i fire it on the floor for a trade in deaths but it shoots thru the floor and dissapeares
I'm not one to fire RPG's, SMAW's, or the Javelin at opponents. I mostly use the Stinger to take down the enemies air support. That is how I help my team.
But I have even noticed this when I lock on to aircraft and fire the rocket. I get killed close to the time I've fired off the round, yet the round disappears and doesn't take down the air support.
It is very frustrating when I sacrificed myself to take down the air support killing off my team, only to die and have that sacrifice in vain because of another glitch in this game.
