Please stop wanting more added to this gaming series

Posted by myevo8you on Jul 23, 2012 11:39 PM

OK guys, I have seen and read literally TONS of things players have asked for or hoped for for a while. They want customiztions on EVERYTHING from killstreaks, to camo, to outfits, etc. What these people don't realize is that by adding  more to the game the developers have to work twice as hard and be rushed even more to produce a unfinished game. Myself, along with probably most of the older gamers that have been playing COD since the original COD have seen this game grow into a crybaby whine fest dominated by players who want to rely totally on their killstreaks to do most of the work for them. We need to SIMPLIFY gameplay until all the litte quirks can be ironed out. I promise you we DO NOT need 25 different killstreaks with 10 ways to customize them. We do NOT need 30 different camos for our guns, we do NOT need 20 outfits to choose from, we do NOT need 12 different perks in the 3 perk slots. What we DO NEED is a game that is balanced, free of poor matchmaking, and has the replayability that we all want.

The same people who whine and cry over the lag, and OP guns/killstreaks seem to be the same players asking to add more to an already (seemingly) maxed out gaming engine. I say bring back the 3,5,7 killstreaks and give us 2-3 options for them and be done with it. As far as perks go, I can see 3 different ones for each tier, but instead of having 3 tiers, give us 4. One would be offensive (think lightweight, marathon, ninja ) another defensive ( think Ghost, Flak Jacket, ), third would be weapon ( think warlord, sleight of hand, scavenger) and the other would be a "bonus" perk (think hardline, hacker, steady aim). Of course this is just a way I could see making the game a little simpler, but having more customization in the long run.

All in all I say adding too much stuff can wash out the game as there is just way too much stuff to do. Look at what the titles in the past 2 modding warfail game shave led to, BOOSTING just for those titles.

People are just excited and filling the void left by the lack of details (the lack thereof is of course understandable). IMO, most people understand that the mechanics of game are likely 95% finished, and it-will-be-what-it-will-be.

I myself am starting to see a fair bit of repition in the forums (being new to them) and am looking forward to some new details dropping (I'm predicting next month) to spice up the converstaions.

Why would you want to simplify the game? Cod4 & WAW was great, but they lack variety & replayability that the newer ones have. There is a special gamemode for people like you, it is called barebones.

I agree that customization is f-ing stupid.

If you want customization, go play with these:

I think xblbw nailed it. We ALL want the same thing, for the basic gameplay mechanics to be stronger and consistent. There are always going to be problems, there are always going to be complaints, there are always going to be things one player loves that another player despises. Its the nature of the beast, its the nature of gaming.

That being said, its unrealistic to say that the Developers shouldn't be looking to add things to the game. Its a basic evolution. In order to keep a series like this alive, you have to innovate, you have to try new things, and you have to give your audience a reason to purchase the new title. CoD has long been the FPS king, but other  series are starting to catch up, and its because they are offering some of the things CoD fans have been clamoring for.

We ask for things because we all have things that we feel are missing from the game or that we feel would be valuable additions to the game. The idea of the Forum is to share these ideas and spark debate and conversation. Once Vahn gives us details, the tone of the Forum will change from what might be, to the realities of what is. I can guarantee you that people will complain or extol the benefits of things he mentions and there will be debate about whether features will be good or not.

Then, once the game is released, the tone will change again to features people like, OP guns/perks/killstreaks, and gameplay.

Its just how Forums work. We have no information to go on now, so we talk about what we want to see. Me? I enjoy hearing the different ideas, but like you I am ready for some more solid information from 3Arc.
