Which is the best Modern Warfare? (In your opinion)

I was to busy getting smashed on Modern Warfare 1 because i was a CoD virgin. So to me its very close between MW2 and MW3. I really cant decide.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was hands down my favorite game of the trilogy.
cod4
its rly not close COD4 is better than MW2 and MW3 combined.
The first Modern Warfare is best in the series in both single and multi-player. The character development in two and three was so bad that I didn't care about any of the characters if they succeded, fail, or died. Killstreaks have gone overboard, I liked it better when they where simple like the first Modern Warfare or none at all. If it wasn't for the hackers, I would still be playing Modern Warfare MP.
COD4 hands down. Everyone who already posted has covered my same opinions. I played some last week and surprisingly it wasn't completely hacked. If I have enough friends online we will play some private matches on it. I truly like that game more than any other game I have ever played.
Heh! Really!
Back when I was playing it, I would constantly end up on hacked games that where infinity ammo, low gravity, or even straight up prestiege lobby games. But, this was around the time MW3 came out. I guess the hackers got their prestige tokens and had left. I guess I'll pop that game in again see how it is now.
It's hard... I loved COD 4's singleplayer, but loved MW2's intense soundtrack (Hans Zimmer).
Also MW2 had intense emotional missions. As far as multiplayer, MW2 was my favorite.
It was so fresh and innovative for it's time, and I loved the AC-130 and nukes!
I'll say MW2 with COD 4 just trailing, MW3 just didn't cut it for me.
CoD 4 hands down. The main reason being is that game didn't hold your hand as much. There was more of a learning curve and you really could see results for playing the game a lot. With MW2 especially but to a certain extend MW3 there's just too much effort put in to making it more appealing to the casual gamer.
I can agree MW3 is more casual player friendly than any other just because of the support package lol and specialist for that matter. I believe the maps are more casual friendly too. The spawns in MW1 and 2 are so much more predictable tho and I think the unpredictable spawns in MW3 can make it very hard for a casual player.
Ah that's an easy choice here, COD4 Mw1 no problem.
Mainly for the same reasons already listed above.
If it wasn't Mw1, then I would have to go with COD2-Big Red One.

As far as the single player goes, the first Modern Warfare is the best by far! It had an awesome story line and great characters! For online play, I probably would have to say the second one just because there was so many good weapons and things to do. It was very difficult to get bored playing MW2 online.
CoD 4, the best ever first person shooter ever built for mankind. And I am seriuos as a heartattack. No game has even come close to CoD 4. NO GAME. MW3 would not make a good pimple on CoD 4's ASS.
COD 4, it was the most challenging and the most fun. My favorite COD was W@W.
I first got XBOX live when COD4 came out. I enjoyed it so much I became a bit of a CODaholic. I then got MW2 and played it awhile prior to Black ops coming out. MW3 is nice and all, but it doesn't seem to have the "Come and play me for hours" type of feel like the others did. After looking back I would say COD4 pulls ahead in the lead on this one. I don't think I ever complained about lag or OP weapons. I just yelled a lot because I was new and I died a lot.....and I mean...A LOT!!
Cod 4 for sure.
Absolutely COD4. Bring it back!!
It's pretty sad when almost 5 years after it's release, COD 4 is still the best Modern Warfare.
I was gonna say MW3. But, i dont have Xbox Gold right now so ive been playing the campaign on the original CoD4: MW recently, and i gotta say i miss this game, man. Havent played it in years, but judging by the awesome campaign play i can tell the multiplayer is just as good. So naturally, my vote is for the original CoD4: MW. I dont know if its because i havent played it in a couple years, but im really liking this game. I wish i had gold so i could play online. It looks f*ckin sweet!
CoD4 was the best. People didn't camp nearly as much, the guns were pretty much balanced, the maps weren't so crowded, and people didn't always try and go for high killstreaks because there were only 3. Those were better days.
MW3 RULEZ!!! ![]()
COD4. Everyone just had fun.
COD4 because it didn't have deathstreaks. It did have Martyrdom and Last Stand (which I argued against both), but they were not deathstreaks. I just love the idea that people were not rewarded for dying.
Idk martydom and Last Stand were perks they activated on every death, wouldnt that be worse than deathstreaks. Even tho people got used to Martydom and knew not to go near dead bodies, it still happened a lot.
For me, it has to be MW2.
It was the first COD I played and actually enjoyed (Played COD4 and W@W, didn't really like them at first), so I am speaking from nostalgia as well as my opinion, but I'll try to keep nostalgia out of it as much as I can.
Yes, MW2 has it's flaws. We all know them, we've talked about them to death. But the stuff that works, REALLY works. The maps are hands down my favorite in any COD game. If IW were to just release MW2 maps for the rest of the content drops for MW3, I'd be fine with that. The guns were the most balanced all around of any COD, bar one (UMP). Every gun had a pro and a con, not just pros or just cons like they have in BO/MW3. And to save you time, the ACR had low recoil but low damage. The SCAR had high damage and low recoil but a small clip and low ammo. See? Pros and cons. And the Tar-21 is by far my all time favorite gun of any COD. And even though the stopping power debate will go on for eternity, it made some guns that would be unusable without it pretty decent guns.
I liked all the little things too. Like the barrel roll with shotties or the knife flip.
But the thing that keeps me going back to MW2 to this day is the rambo effect. When I get going in MW2, I'm unstoppable. MW2 is set up so you can just go on a rampage and no one can stop you. Scavanger, Stopping Power, Ninja, Predator, Harrier, Chopper, Semtex, stun, AA-12, and your favorite gun, and you're gold. BO took the rambo effect and ****** it in the ass, and MW3 tried to bring it back, but there's so much BS in the game, it's just not the same. A streak in MW3 isn't as satisfying as a streak in MW2 for me. I feel like I just got lucky that I didn't get lag killed or I didn't fall victim to a bad spawn. In MW2, when I get going, I feel unstoppable because I know it's because of how I know the game and how I play it.
Even the flaws are starting to grow on me. Like when I'm getting destroyed by chopper right out of my spawn, I can't help but be a little charmed and think "only in MW2". That's the thing for me, "Only in MW2". There's so many things that are just in MW2 and I can't get anywhere else. Sure, some of it is bad, like commando, OMA/DC tubes, but I take the good with the bad. People forget how innovative MW2 was because most people just think of how bad it was. It introduced pro perks, increased the attachments, increased the killstreaks, etc. Blops and MW3 were built on the road that MW2 paved.
I can't help but wonder what would have happened to it if the fallout between IW and activision hadn't happened. Problems could've been fixed, more maps could've been made, just what could have been. But for what it is, I love it. It has a charm that will never be matched which is why even today, with over 17 days played on it, I still play.
cod4, and can u tell me what time the dlc will be out for terminal here in arkansas?
CoD 4. MW2 was good, but it had problems CoD 4 didn't:
Noob Tubes: CoD 4 had noob tubes and Sonic Boom, but no OMA for infinite tubing
Knife Monkeys: CoD 4 didn't have Commando or TacKnife
Dominating killstreaks: CoD 4 didn't have anything past the Attack Helicopter. If you kept going past 7 it just came up with '10 Kill Streak!' '15 Kill Streak!' etc
Kill farming: You could do it on CoD 4, but MW2 took it to a new level - and you could win an objective game by kill farming (just use the nuke when the enemy are about to win).
That said, on Xbox, CoD 4 is hacked beyond all recognition (super jump is fun, but automatic limitless noob tubes aren't) while MW2 seems to be OK.
mw3
COD4
None. Each of them haves pros and cons both in SP and in MP.
