HAS THE SITREP PRO PATCH RUINED THE GAME?

So I'm not sure if you are aware but their was a patch not too long ago that allowed sitrep pro to hear everyone's movements really clearly.. Even if you use dead silence pro. I play search and destroy probably 90% of the time I am on Xbox and It's fairly clear to see how over powered it is. Correct me if I'm wrong but i believe it's the first time a perk directly made another perk obsolete. It also practically removes the need for a UAV or portable radar because you can hear anyone who may be in your vicinity long before you see them. Couple this with a half decent headset (which the majority has these days) and your pretty much unstoppable. This going to force everyone to have to start using this perk now too just to even the playing field..Myself included. The only other way of defusing this perks ability now is for everyone to start walking around crouched over. Does anyone else think this is rediculous or is it just me?

See I ran a poll on YouTube and 82% agreed with me. I presumme the other 15% are sitrep pro users.

I can not make sense of why Infinity ward did this... In a game with so many errors that need to be addressed.. The spawn system and hit detection to name a few. They felt it was nessesary to alter a perks ability, now instead of bringing a balance between different weapons and perks they have added to the issues.

Now Infinity Ward made a great game. Regardless of the issues... But now i find myself enjoying it a lot less.

I also know that voicing public discontent won't make a difference either because Infinity Ward will have to stand behind their decision to patch it too.

Infinity Ward don't seem to be the kind to listen to public opinion Or outcry as the general public have been voicing their concerns since November and not much has been addressed. I just want to know what you people think about it.

Does it aggrovated as much as it does me? I'm at a point where Im getting fed up of it.

    82% out of how many people? Sampling size is important.

     

    In any event, it seems like prior to the patch, people were complaining that it wasn't useful enough (hence why the patch happened to begin with).. now suddenly it's useful and people don't like it.

    Well in MW2 you were able to hear everybodys footsteps with Sitrep Pro so what's the big deal? also before MW3 was released they said that with Sitrep Pro you hear all footsteps, even DS. Probably was the same way in BO idk didn't play that game much because it sucked imo.

    So I'm sorry if you can't camp like a boss with DS Pro anymore, but in my opinion it's good that it's now. And I have never even gotten Sitrep Pro because I don't use it.

    Camp like a boss with DS pro?  Are you mentally challenged?  Campers use SRP, not DS.  All this did was make it easier for the campers.  But that's the trend in MW games anymore.  Help the campers and enable them to move as little as possible.

     

    I'm a run and gunner and it's incredible how many little ******* I see now just sitting in a corner who can hear me coming from a mile away with dead silence on.  This is NOT the way it was with Ninja Pro in MW2 as I posted in another SRP thread.  Ninja Pro users became audible about 1/4th the distance away as non Ninja users when someone was using SRP.  In this piece of **** game SRP users can hear everyone all the same.

     

    Like the OP said, you pretty much have to run SRP now just to even it out but all the jackasses who bitched and moaned about not being able to hear DS users with SRP in the first place now got their wish and can proceed to never move ever again.

    He's not mad.
    Camping is not sitting in one corner -- it's also the act of walking around in a small area of the map and be in complete control of that area so that anyone nearing it are at a huge disadvantage.

     

    Dead Silence let you not only move within your area without alerting anyone else of your presence, but it also allows you to hear enemy footsteps clear as day because you don't hear yourself.

     

    Then add a portable radar to that mix, and you're all set for a reaper -> AC130 -> Juggernaut

    Unless of course the person creeping up on your camp area was using DS.  But wait MW campers!  Here at Infinity Ward, we like to cater to all your camping needs!  Here's a patch for SRP that makes all those pesky DS users as loud as an elephant!  Happy camping!

     

    Like the OP said, DS is now obsolete.

    It is not.

     

    Campers have their motion sensor, and if someone use assassin for assault versus campers, they're doing something seriously wrong:
    Good campers use the motion sensor and sound like an anglerfish use it's glowing appendage:

    They HELP the camper find prey, but are in NO WAY his only way of finding prey.
    People with assassin and dead silence stumbling upon the camper are at a even greater disadvantage:


    The camper CONTROLS the area.
    That means he already KNOWS that you CAN be EXACTLY where you are -- while he CAN be ANYWHERE for you.
    To defeat campers whe assaulting them, you need quickdraw more than assasin, because they don't need the radar to know where you are.

     

     

     

    Keywords to successful "professional" camping:

    -Overview to the positions enterances

    -Timing
    -Concealment

    -Space for relocation and means of escape / full concealment (hiding)

    • Sit Rep Pro, in MW2, could hear EVERYTHING.  I used SRP pretty much exclusively in MW2, and you could literally hear people half way across the map.  Compared to MW3, SRP in MW2 was beastly; SRP in the current game has been nerfed.  Overpowered?  No, because people used Commando and Ninja all the time.  SRP was buggy and wasn't useful if players used DS before the patch, but now suddenly they fix a bug and it's overpowered?  I disagree.  I didn't hear anyone complaining about the perk back then, even though the effects were much more clearer than in this game.

     

    • The Devs said that the change from MW2-MW3 wasn't intentional; it was a bug which was overseen.  If the devs said that it was supposed to work "like in previous titles", then I'm guessing they wanted it to be exactly like MW2's SRP.  What they did in the patch was fix a bug, they didn't nerf or buff any perks in the process.

     

    • Claiming most campers use SRP is (still) quite preposterous.  I'm still seeing those said 'campers' using DS or Marksman or Stalker, but do I see them complaining about the maximum effect SRP users get out of sounding them out?  No.  SRP is supposed to be used in a support way, and works very well in an agressive playstyle.  Using up your Yellow perks for sitting somewhere, sounding people out isn't what the perk is designed for.

     

    • Speaking of the actual effects of SRP: all it does is nullify the effects of DS (it doesn't make you louder), compared to amplifying those without it.  Crouching, regardless of the perk, nullifies SRP; so by the same logic, is crouching overpowered?  Do I get a valid reasoning for complaining that one of the main mechanics in COD completely blocks out my Yellow perk?  No, because that's balance - and so is the main point of the Perk system, Perks will eventually need to start countering others.

     

    • I still think there are other game-breaking issues, especially Assassin and the extreme lack of counters that has.

    It hasnt ruined the game no, but it has ruined SnD it seems. By far the most vocal complaints have come from SnD players. Unfortunately SnD has a small player population compared to the other gametypes so until EVERYONE starts complaining IW wont change it back. Its almost like demanding they alter quickscoping, they simply wont. Im not an SnD player (mainly Core GW/Dom/KC and currently TDM) so it hasnt affected players like me anywhere near as bad.

    Your best bet it to earn Sitrep Pro yourself.
