Spawn killing, Cheating, and boosting! Will we ever see the end??

Posted by Nationalnein on Jul 5, 2012 4:44 AM

Now Im a huge fan of the Cod franchise and love all of the titles but MW3 really put a bad taste in my mouth. When it first came out it was awesome it had fluid gameplay and liked the multiplayer maps i.e. dome(i think we all can agree)=) but the spawns were an instant crapfest, they were very predictable and often overlapping another major letdown was as time progressed people got good, then they got rele good, then they got super good! I was really impressed until I noticed, hes running in open space...then stopped! tooo many crazy things have happened in that game to even consider a fair gameplay, people dissapearing then reappearing behind you, and a good ol fashion spawn kill session where you die 3 times in a row before you can even try to do anything...my main point is wayyyy to much of this was happening on MW3 and it made the game unenjoyable, I personally would like to see a system that if not able to cease and desist this issue, at least cut down on this whackyness...I am a very competitve man myself and of course love winning..but when there is no challenge and you know at anytime you could rig the game, I see no fun in it at all I compare it to playing madden on easy mode and all AI up, there is no competition, Id like to see a easier way for players and the COD team to be able to communicate and resolve these types of issues  I mean you can report a player as long as, you can identify who it was and how it was done which is not always an easy task since popping up behind people after dissapearing is a cheaters delight, id like to see the report tag more like the mute button where you can hit a quick switch in the game to alert people of the issue, Idk just think that would weed out the gamers from the shamers(or youtube noob tube)

I imagine the spawns will be awful for the first month or so, Treyarch will see that, and fix it. Just like Black Ops.

IW just...ugh. Player collision still hasnt been fixed, spawns are still awful, guns are still OP.

Cheating, I see very few cheaters on MW3 apart from Modded controllers(Xbox).

IMO, Demolition and Tactical Insertions need to be removed from the franchise. Two biggest Boosting tools.

I still see tons of boosting in Infected aswell.

Spawnkilling. With good spawn system will come to an end but spawn trapping not. That is learning the chock points and the spawn boundaries.

Cheating will always be there. A amount may vary bit will stay in one way or an other.

Boosting. No TI will help a lot

I don't see Spawn "Trapping" as cheating. It takes some skilled players, a long with full team work to get there. I would agree, in saying once the trap is set, it's not all that hard. However, getting the enemie pushed backed, and getting your lanes set up is not all that easy. Every time I have been trapped, or been the trapper, it was never with noobs. It was always with skilled players. Spawn trapping is good for when you get bored with the regular objectives, and want to totally demolish the enemie.

Its not cheating, but its unfortunate that the game mechanics allow it to happen. I know people are saying it takes a good team to do it, and that may be true, but its just not fun for the other team. People will say "Don't get spawn trapped" or that a good team can break a spawn trap, which is also true, but my point is its simply not fun to spawn and get killed immediately, no matter what. Its not very sporting, in my opinion, to spawn kill. Its akin to shooting fish in a barrel, in my opinion. Your opponent can't control where they are spawning, or what direction they are facing when they do spawn.  I don't know that there will ever be a fix, as spawn killing has been a part of FPS games since they began, but its one of the more unfortunate and frustrating aspects of the game. As long as CoD keeps having predictable spawns and unchanging maps, its going to continue to happen.

Don't forget about drop shooting and quick scoping!

I consider drop shotting to be more of a tactical skill than an exploit like QSing. I drop shot all the time on accident now since I switched to Tactical button layout (I was tired of panic knifing) It's saved my butt more times that I can count.

I have to agre with TabCore here. It always kind of annoyed me, too, but for some reason in MW3 I was randomly knifing in the middle of gunfights.. a lot. Never had that happen before in a CoD game. I switched to Tactical, so, now, instead of knifing, I hit the ground. Its a legitimate tactic. Soldiers don't run at enemy combatants, instead they offer as little target area as possible. Whats the first thing you hear in every war movie when the fire fight starts? "Get down!"

First thing I see soldiers do is everything at once, obviously.

        "ENEMY!"

*Pvt. D-Bag throws a nade, shoots his weapon, aims in the air, sprints, checks the scoreboard and finally knifes accidently, lunging at someone for an instant kill*

Will we ever see the end? Well no. But, treyarch usually does a pretty good job at keeping the game as clean as possible. But you can never totally be free from it.

IMO, Spawn Killing is a legit tactic. Especially in cod, since it basically requires your team to trap the other at their spawn without flipping them. So if you really just mash the X/Square button on your controller, you're just making it easy for the other team to put you back in your place. Simply, your team was worse than the other. Tadah.

But if there are maps which are practically made for Spawn Killing, then no.

You should have a choice to respawn. ie: Hit "X" to respawn

If the team is not spawning, there is no trapping.

In HArdcore, you have a counter, once it is done with the countdown, you should have the option of spawning.

No.  Cheating may be at a minimum, but it's way too hard to stop it completely.  And to me, that's all I want, continuous support from game devs to reduce the amount of cheating.

spawn killing is really bad in mw3 just because they spawn next to eachother, but i think spawn trapping is a good tactic to use like in dom. mostly because if your not getting the flags you deserve to get spawn trapped. as for boosting and cheating. should'nt be ingnored. but glitches are a hard thing to judge becuase it can happen on accident.

I dont think anyone understands here that spawn killing/camping of any sort is in a different league than cheating and boosting.

Spawn killing or camping is the result of poorly designed maps/game mechanics and are a reflection of the developer/map makers' failure; it has nothing to do with the players' legitimate actions or is in any way their fault.

The other two, however, totally are.

Absolutely. If you make predictable spawns, then people will figure them out and take advantage of it.

Exactly.  There is a balance that needs to be maintained; too predictable and you'll get eventual spawn **** (mw3), too unpredictable and no matter where you are enemies spawn in your anus and mouth, often at the same time (mw3).

It's up to them to make sure neither happens, at least not at a significant rate.  Sometimes, when a team sucks that badly compared to another, they deserve and should be trapped in a little part of the map.  But again, it should only be because of the players' performances, not the game deciding to do this randomly.

Well said. Spawn is the only time in a match when you are completely helpless and have no control. So frustrating when you get killed before you can move or make any attempt at defending yourself.  It will be interesting to see how spawns work on this one.

Here here, liked spawns in BO after a some in the wild tweaks were implemented say from FEB 11 on. Spawns with mw3 are not so good.

Quite looking fwd to some 3arc spawn logic love
