Safety First!

If you are a firework, and today intend on celebrating your people's liberation from the oppresive, fledgling American republic, please...

Drink responsibly.

    True that!

Have a safe but fun time. It doesn't pay to drink and drive either. My friend just the other night got a DUI. He chose not to take a ride from me and friends but left on his own. That next monday at work we found he got a DUI driving back to his house.

Hahahaha. I got a perfect 4th story for this thread.

Last night while drinking... (hah many great stories start like this) and lighting off fireworks I got shot in the back of my leg with a mortar.

So I was in my drive way turned around facing my house with packs of firecrackers in my hand and a box of fireworks beside me. My friend sets up a mortar in the road and as he runs away from lighting it the tube falls over and the mortar comes out only to shoot into the back of my leg. As it hit my leg it's like it stayed there burning for about 3 seconds then it exploded as a mortar would do. So now I've got some burns on the back of my leg and a good patch of missing hair haha. It's not serious burns or anything but it did sting for a bit and scared the sh*t out of me. I later laughed it off.

Somehow I always find myself reading your posts with a thick southern accent. Would I be correct in doing so?

Nah, Georgia has the thick southern accents mostly. I sure don't talk like someone from Jersey or New York though.

I did not get to enjoy the fireworks because of the drought and fireworks could have lit the grass on fire...

Seems like someone didn't know how OP the grass is.

Fireworks that take off and go above 4 feet or so are actually illegal in my county but many people still do them instead. We have to go to the next county over to get good mortar kits though.

I know that it is quite common people to go over to Indiana to get some fireworks that are not legal in KY.

I'm sure everyone's heard about the San Diego Fireworks show, where all the fireworks went off at the same time, making it last 30 seconds instead of 20 minutes. Here's a video:
