Team Deathmatch Unlimited

Posted by krizaiid on Jul 3, 2012 6:33 AM

Hello Everybody!

What do you guys think of a gametype such as Team Deathmatch Unlimited? By Team Deathmach Unlimited I mean a game mode based on Team Deathmatch where the match doesn't end when it reaches 7500 points. Instead it should be based on a 10 minute timer which would allow Unlimited kills for that amount of time; when the timer runs out the team with the most kills wins the match. This would be awesome because:

A) Players who like to play only for the kills can stack up a lot of kills and improve K/DR.

B) Players who like to play objective games to stack up kills would join this game mode instead of Domination, Kill Confirmed, etc.

C) Longer duration to enjoy the match. (Team Deathmatch usually lasts from 4-7 minutes)

As I stated before, I think that this would be so awesome because the players who actually like to play the objectives won't have to worry about those who usually join objective game modes just to rack up kills. This game mode will definitely be embraced by those who love to stack up numerous kills. And lastly, it would last longer than the objective game modes and Team Deathmatch itself; a 10 minute timer is a good amount of time for a game to unfold. Team Deathmatch Unlimited would be an awesome playlist. What do you guys think? Suggestions?

Thanks

K'

Thats just asking people to boost; an unlimited game where you could kill as much as you wanted? no thanks. Sounds good, but would be exploited far too much.

It's such a shame that boosters have destoyed our intellect to embrace new ideas. There will always be boosters no matter the playlist. However I do believe in honest people who would love to play this. We can always report boosters and get them banned for their dishonest behavior.

Exactly I would've loved to be able to join a random lobby killing the same people repeatedly with no end xD

In my opinion, it wouldn't be needed if they just tweak the stats in the current game modes, hopefully with this iteration. Example: DO NOT track kills for objective based game modes unless the kills pertains to the objective.

    1) Domination= only track kills that are defensive or offensive kills for the flag being fought over. Flag captures are more important. That's the point of the mode.

    2) CTF= only track kills of those holding the flag or who shot the flag carrier. The flag being taken or defended is the point of the mode.

    3) Headquarters= Only track kills offending or defending the HQ.

ETC., I think you get the picture.

Team deathmatch, FFA, and KC are the only modes where kills should matter and be the focal point.

If you stop tracking unimportant kills in objective based game modes (including NOT background counting into K/D R), the boosters will slowly disappear and the game will severely improved.

I agree TDM needs to last longer. 75kills may seem like a lot on paper, but when divide amongst 5 of my most skilled friends that just means I might get maybe 10-15 kills per match and the game ends in 2-4 minutes. That's not very much fun for me

Objective based game mode however, I can play and get 30-40 kills easily and score many more points playing the objective. So it's kind of pointless to play TDM.

I say raise the kill total to 100 and give more points for kills and let the points grow exponentially when scoring high killstreaks

What other games has this large of a community? And how many of those games have anything to actually boost for?

Since we want to say this will be booster heaven, boosters use domintion. No kill limit and the game lasts a lot longer than 10 minutes if only one team caps a flag then before the game ends have the other team capture it.

Either way i've always viewed TDM as the rookie game mode but i don't see anything wrong with this game mode.

I mean, yeah it would help out alot for those who struggle with their K/D and those who want high scoring games. I would love for this idea to work... I think they just need to not put Tactical Insertions in the game.

You want to play a high scoring TDM? GW. There isn't any need to make the games ridiculously long so people that are far less fortunate then I and others to pump stats to make themselves look better than they are. What do you think this would do for people that ravage the competition already as if they were a village of virgin soldiers?

i think it would be a decent game mode i mean at least its not the entire point of the game if you dont like the game mode just go play another mode

I still think TDM is too short. Like I said above, if I play with a decent group of friends I might get the top score with only 15 or so kills and the match ends in just a couple minutes

There are 4million people who have not gotten this memo. I've been in TDM where splitscreeners do nothing but dick around and could give two sh*ts less about the win. They're perfectly content with knowing they lost their team the match because they played a whole game without getting a single kill and giving the enemy 50 kills

TDM is very well vala ved as it is, plus as the favourite form of match needs to be relatively low-commitment, in terms of time. Relatively, I say.

I too, enjoy the idea of a lengthier match, but that actually works when several matches are protracted in a cummulative way, hence a drawn out sequence of skirmishes.

Furthermore, TDM is balanced as it is, who can predict the knock-on effects that could lead to huge changes in the game format.

In light of the comments I feel it's worth mentioning that gaming style is a big factor in game length, so clanning up with kill-boys will often result in low personal kills. This is where TDM should be adjusted - the objective rewards. Win is the objective, not personal kills. Team kills over team deaths. So who cares if one of you is sucking bullets for the team or even ending with 5 assists but no kills, when you've spotted for your team, brought down enemy air support for your team and heller your team win 20 in a row.

TDM should be about kills minus deaths, not kills or even personal k/d, bonus XP should be given in large amounts for team play such as assists, buzz kills, enemy items destroyed, and of course the win. Even the end game standings should be ordered by kills minus deaths and not kills.

If my team play well, we usually have 1 or 2 on high kills minus deaths, but it's rarely the same people each time - unless we want to let one go on fire and rack them up, usually getting a great run but simultaneously allowing the rest of us to go on a great run of ZERO deaths, which is equally important and never hets mentioned

(iPad issue, sorry). ....anyway, that never gets mentioned but TDM is not free for all and without this significance (of deaths being as vital as kills) would be free for all.

Finally, games over in 2 mins, not often. That may concern the poor mapsize MW3 gave us but in Treyarch's games it is longer. The fastest TDM's Are clans on Nuketown and that's 4 mins. Some games can go the distance. Try not to die - as a team and see what happens then.

Well at least it is well composed and abridged. Also what to be taken into consideration is the amount of KS this would enable to be in play. Which could ultimately result in huge amounts of lag.

Gotcha from MW3 forum can end a match just a couple minutes with his clan. When I ran with him for a couple matches it was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever seen. They're all super high ranked in TDM and there's a reason for it. The all have 2+ K/Ds and all run Recon. It's a total blood bath for the other team and the matches just aren't long enough when you have players like that

This is how all modes should be that have a score-limit currently. Treyarch, remove the score caps on every mode and just put a 10 minute time limit on them plz (Domination).

Keep the time and team kills limit the same. Private matches can be played for all kinds of changes there.

I sincerely believe a change here will upset something that works and that the devs know this.

What should happen though is a better understanding and representation of TDM's objectives. There's one. It is (as a team) to Get to 75 kills first - or have the most after 10 mins.

Fine, perfect. However, change these perifery elements.

    - order Final Match Standings within teams by KILLS MINUS DEATHS

    - positive KILLS MINUS DEATHS should be in green, negative in red

    - assists give same XP as kills (though no effect on team result)

    - increased XP for buzz kills and other "team useful" kills (no team effect)

    - increased XP for destroying enemy killstreak rewards (no team effect)

    - bonus XP for biggest KILLS MINUS DEATHS or over +5

    - bonus XP for 12 or less deaths (average needed to win TDM)

There is already a big reward for many kills - and that's fine, people should not lose those points for each death (eventhough that's how the team score egge ti Roy works right now), but players should develop or earn XP more by playing TDM in the way that wins it, the objectives, outlined above.

Don't the majority realise that a player on 25-28 kills-deaths is as helpful/unhelpful as someone on 0-3, yet the former wil be at the top of the charts and with bags of XP yet the latter will be at the bottom with no XP - even if they helped their team with spotting, alerting and giving very little to the opposition.

TDM is the most popular game. So There are sometimes, millions playing. I think that out of those millions the ones that stand out the most should be rewarded with extra XP
