Hello all,

 

So as we can all see, this forum moves fast. Really, really fast actually, but that's the nature of things. So I wanted to go ahead and open up a thread to discuss some things.

 

This is what I've got in the back of my mind regarding two things.

 

Zombie Clans

We seem to butt heads on this one and it ultimately isn't going to change. Clan threads have to go to the clan sub-forum, but we can possibly have a pinned thread highlighting them. We'd post some basic information a link to your thread.

 

Pick Up Groups

I'm fine with these just being posted, at random, when people need a group to play with. Would you rather it this way, or should we have a pinned thread for this too?

 

So, how do you feel about these two? Anything else you'd like to discuss? Also please remember that I am just a forum moderator. I can't offer and don't have any time tables or information beyond what you guys have.

 

Edit: I'm only going to discuss forum related content. This isn't a gernal Zombies idea discussion thread.

    yeah, i think that maybe having a pinned sub-forum for those is the way to go. I just want to ask, what does the "IDEAS" section of this forum do? we can only post discussions (as far as i am aware) at the moment.

     

    I'll just say, you'll probably need to make these two pinned sub forums brazenly visible, occasionally i find stuff nothing to do with zombies on this thread haha

    Maybe a chat room sort of thing, so that people can shout out what map they want to play, and people can post their responses more quickly.

      I don't feel solid about requestingg a "chat room" or "chat box." Those hardly work well. A thread for PUGs would suffice.

    It's good i'll be able to write exactly my idea of zombie map and its senario for the coments everyone. It can be like that better maps and a better game.

    I like the idea of having sub-forum's for them both.  Makes it easier to find when coming online and searching through the website. To add to my thought, it will also make for less trash in the real forums in regards to clan or party questions.  Keep the real forum for game discussion/advise/tips and such only.

    Let's clean up the terminiology.

     

    A sub-forum is an actual forum dedicated to something. An example would be the Zombies sub-forum within the Black Ops II forums.

     

    A thread is an actual discussion, it isn't an actual forum.

     

    We're not going to have a zombie clan or zombie PUG sub-forum. We'd have pinned threads for those if we agreed on them.

      I would like sub-forums.  That was my input.  But if it's not on the table then we definitely need some pinned threads in order to keep the clutter to a min.  The zombs forums for BOPS was full of people requesting parties and they never had any input towards the game.  I vote for pinned threads!

    I actually don´t mind as long as the forum isn´t plagued with those threads.

     

    What I think would be cool is an aside forum for "Zombie Ideas", because this would show the community that Treyarch does want some feedback towards what they like/want for the zombie mode.

     

    I believe it would be awesome to see a famous idea added in some way to a zombie map, etc.

     

    With an "Idea" forum, it would be easier to find great ways to improve the game, gameplay, map design, and overall many other aspects of Black Ops 2.

      Just so we're clear, you're ok with pick-up-group threads being in this sub-forum as long as they aren't too frequent?

      I think it'd be a bad idea to segregate too much in regards to sub-forums. This space performs well as a catalyst for Zombie ideas and discussion. I'm also sure that Treyarch is sampling the forums every now and then anyway, so opening up a new sub-forum might be a bit unneeded. Time will tell though.

    I don't know if this is possible but if you could create a form in which people fill out if they are trying to pick up players to make the layout consistant. It would have features like time (including time zone), map(s), etc... plus a small place for comments. Just some input.

     

    Also on a side note, just wondering how you came to become a moderator for COD. I was just wondering what sort of steps one would have to pursue.

    It would be nice if there were another box at top saying something like, "game groups" or something.  It would be wayyyyy easier to find people that want to play without it being too difficult.  Also, can you please watch for people bumping.  It's ok for the first few times, but if there's someone going "nahhdhhfhgjjdncjsjcjdj" every 5 seconds so people see their posts, please respond appropriately.  Thanks!!!

    Can you add a report feature for spoilers?

     

    For example, if I click on a thread that happens to have spoilers but the title of the thread gives no indication that there will be spoilers or for people that put the spoiler in the title which ruins it for everyone.

     

    This is one thing I fear will happen: People will put spoiler in the title of their thread or people will put spoilers in their thread without giving a warning.


    There should be a report feature for this.

      I agree, There should be an abuse button just for over-all reports.

        Useless content is often viewed as spam.

          Ok, how about this?  When the guy goes into his thread and types random letters and then replies to his thread so it boosts him up, then deletes the reply.  His thread is now at the top.  Is that right?  Should I do that?  Shoot, let's get the entire community to do it.  I'm not very happy right now because this has been going on for over 3 or 4 months.  Anyways, I have proof he is doing it.  If u want it, I'll send you an email because my stuff has personal info on it.

            This is the first I've actually heard of this kind of abuse and it explains some odd happenings every now and then. I'll bring this up in a discussion.

        I dont like when someone ruins the end of a movie for me and even worse for a video game. Lol

          Just so we're clear. There isn't much I can do as a moderator, or the other moderators, in terms of preventative measures. When the time comes we'll definitely throw a thread or announcement up about courtesy and the likes, but your best bet is always a media black-out.

          Ok, well I could say the same thing bout activision and microsoft's "contract.". It ruins the maps for people on different console's.  Its really annoying when we want to be surprised when we play the new zombie maps, but oh no!  We have seen the map already!!!  Anyways, I'm not gonna get into that.  I agree.  I hate spoilers.  Maybe have a subsection on it.

            aahhh, when CoD finally decide to use a game engine that isn't from 2007 (yep, they used the same engine as CoD4 for everygame since, explains why they all feel old skool!), and use a modern engine like games like BF3 and MoH are doing, XBOX probably won't even be able to run the games smoothly due to their older tech in it. XBOX struggles to run a BF3 game due to the modern engine, something the PS3 and PC don't have issues with. Soon, that contract will fall trhough the floor, within the next 2 Cod games, as maybe, they'll have a new game engine by then.

          Got word back on this subject. It's a no-go, but the "general" abuse field will work quite well. Just hit us up when the spoilers arrive.

    Give us the option to report the original post. There have been and will probabally continue to be stupid threads that consits of spam, bull$h!t, and things that are just alright stupid. For example there is a thread that is titled "Bo2 Zombie trailer on 6/21" or something like that so I click on it and the f-ing @$$hole somehow drew fish on the post. Here is the user name: idoglitchgetreset

     

    or something like that. The thread is in the zombie fourm. Please give us the option to report the original post/thread.

    Having pinned threads ontop of every sub category PS3, XBOX, Zombies, etc... Is just what this forum needs. If you have the right things pinned/stickyed people will have all there places in one spot. less confusion less navigating the site.

    Ok, remember what u said about we r cool with every once in awhile there's a post about people wanting to group up and play zombies, but it becomes a problem when the forum is littered with it.  I think we are reaching that point.  Just checked and there are at lease like 6 or 7 posts about wanting to join up in clans/parties.  Can you look into this and see what you can do?

      Forwarded some stuff to our site staff and they were able to fix a few issues with the forum. Without switching tabs, we can now see the featured content. So I'll be making the pick up group thread soon.

    Hey man, as the forums are out longer and longer, we are starting to get more and more duplicate threads, or stuff addressing the same or close to same exact topic.  Now I'm ok if someone has expanded on something brought up briefly in somebody elses thread, but when they go in and someone is saying, "hey, this is a good idea" and then different guy comes in and titles it different but makes the same exact points on it not making it origional, it really frustrates me.  It's probably just a personal problem lol, but I've been on here for awhile now, you could probably tell me better than I could remember, and I'm seeing the same topics addressed over and over again.  Is there anything you can do about this at all?  Also, thanks for sticking with us and actually listening and fixing problems that are coming up with the forums.  We, the gaming community, really appreciate it. 

     

    On a side note, how exactly do you become a moderator?  And are you paid or is it volunteer work?  I've been thinking about doing something like that because I'm ALWAYS online and I'm running out of things to do.
