Why are the LMGs on BO1 so Weak for Zombies?

Posted by Bush_Wookie_95 on May 27, 2012 6:10 AM

When i First Played zombies on World at War, the Mg42 and Browning M1919 were beast, they mowed down zombie waves after zombie waves. You could cause zombie genocide with those. When they were pack a punched, they were insane! MG42 with Double Tap and Speed Cola Pap was like dropping an atomic bomb.....on an ants nest, very messy!!!!
So When BO came out, i was like, ooohhhhh, new MGs, these will be beast. I Use them, they are worse than the SMGs! The HK21 is so poor its unreal. It has difficulty killing zombies even on round 12. Double Tap alievates that a bit, but theres no denying its awful. Even PaP, its like tickling the zombies with a glowing purple feather. Even the RPK, which is a bit better due to its fire rate, is like slapping them with a wet fish. Sounds like one too! Why couldn't we have had the M60, thats as powerful as the MG42 ever was! I use the Galil over the Mgs if i can get one, even though it has less ammo and a smaller mag size, i even trade the HK for a Famas.
So i beg for BO2, can we please have MGs for zombies which act the part, that can mow down zombies like a wildfire in a wood store! Because otherwise, if you give us crappy MGs again, save yourself Treyarch the time and money by not putting them in zombies in the first place, they are that bad. Bring back the MG42, or its modern equivalent, the MG3 (not the MG36, the MG3!), as used by the German Military. PLEASE!

3arc, please ignore the above post, and leave the LMGs as they were in BO.

It makes complete sense to me that LMGs are less powerful then assault rifles because they have more bullets. Also, i prefer using LMGs (in zombies only) because they give me more points, because they take more hits to kill and more hits = more points.

After round 30 or so though they're pretty pointless because you should have enough points that you don't need to worry about getting points anymore, and killing zombies with less ammo becomes far more important. PAP'd Galil at about round 30 is beast because you get loads of ammo (nearly as much as the RPK) but it's so much more powerful.

So, yeah, in the higher rounds i agree with you that the LMGs are pretty week, but they're great in the early rounds because you get more points from them than you do with assault rifles. And like i said, they shold be less powerful than assault rifles because you have more bullets than assault rifles.

Oh, i didn't realise you were trying to compare ZOMBIES with REAL LIFE!

Yes, obviously i know that LMGs are much more powerful than assault rifles in real life - you just have to look at the size of the bullets that they fire (like you rightly said).

However, come on, comparing zombies and real life?... I don't think so. I was simply saying that i think it's fair that LMGs are less powerful than assault rifles (in a COMPUTER GAME like zombies) because you have more bullets. If LMGs had more bullets, and they were more powerful than assault rifles, then no one would ever use an assault rifle.

There has to be some sort of balance (in a computer game) and moving a little bit slower really isn't enough of a disadvantage in zombies, because the zombies can't run as fast as you can walk - you can literally walk away from them even with an LMG, no matter what round even if you can get to round 1000, the zombies can NEVER run faster than you can walk. So making them less powerful than assault rifles balances them out - they take more bullets to kill, but you have more bullets.

If you want realism added to zombies, then i don't think you can have a zombies mode can you? Because last time i checked, there was no such thing as zombies......  ......

True! Any LMG should be better then any Assault Rifle in zombies! I never wanna use a LMG in zombies in Black Ops because I run so slow and the reloads take longer. In zombies, it should be:

    1. Wonder Weapon

    2. Light Machine Gun

    3. Sniper

    4. Shotgun

    5. Assault Rifle

    6. Sub Machine Gun

    7. Handguns

    in terms of damage.

Good point about releading taking longer, i forgot about that. You pretty much have to have slight of hand with an LMG - if you decide to keep it for a while anyway.

But LMGs more powerful than sniper rifles? You sure you have that the right way round? So you have all of those bullets, and they are more powerful than sniper rounds? Surely that would mean one shot kills with an LMG in the early rounds?

Plus, snipers have like 50 bullets or something, and have a slow fire rate - so you want an LMG with hundreds of bullets, and a rapid fire rate (compared to a sniper) and even more powerful than a sniper rifle?.... Something tells me this will never be implemented....

I also think the LMGs should be less powerful than assault rifles - simply because you have more bullets. It's a balancing act - LMGs have more bullets than assault rifles, but take more bullets to kill so that kind of balances them out. Ok, you can move and reload faster with assault rifles, but you get more points from LMGs, which isn't a direct balance - but i like it. Plus, you have to reload less often with LMGs which balances out the reloading time.

Personally, when it comes to zombies, if i get an assault rifle, i'll use it 'till it runs out of ammo. If i get an LMG, i'll use it 'till it runs out of ammo.

By about round 25, if i have a Galil, i'll PAP that - if i have an LMG, i'll PAP that. By about round 30, i ditch the machine guns and go for a mustang & sally and Ray gun combo, leaving a 3rd gun slot (with mule kick) for pretty much whatever i get out of the box. I use all of that ammo, and then use mustangs and ray gun. If i don't get a max ammo, i go to the box and buy another gun, and repeat to fade.

(@SR1) Dude you are so retarded. the idea isn't to have complete realism but that doesn't mean you just mess with physics for no reason. you have to keep some notion of PLAUSABILITY, not possibility, not realism, but plausabiity. meaning if a rifle has bigger, more powerful bullets then it should do more damage.
