More incentive for winning

Posted by warzh311ion on May 18, 2012 6:32 AM

They need to come up with a way to make people care about w/l. Maybe they can have a 3x or 5x XP bonus to winning team.I know they have the match bonus now, but it is not enough. People really don't care about it.

There have been ideas in the past, like removing k/d count in certain game types like domination, but we have yet to see any of these used. It would be nice to get rid of the worthless players in objective games.

Oddly...WLR is all I look at.

I could care less if you have a stellar KDR but lose more often than you win.

Makes sense to me. There is so much selfish play in CoD, it would be nice to see teams rewarded for victory. Maybe something along the lines of the winning team getting Double XP for that Match. Same would go for FFA, you win, you get Double XP for the win. Would provide some more incentive for team play and stress victory over K/D. I personally could care less about K/D. I do my best to go positive every match, of course getting more kills than deaths always helps the team, but there is more to the game than that.

I only play for the win. If a sniper is hiding well and wrecking my team I will cheerfully go negative to remove him from the equation. generally, I'm positive anyway but if it takes self-sacrifice to pull the win then I'll do it. A good example-the other night I was playing long after I was too tired to aim straight. Went 9-15 in HC KC-but I pulled 1900 pts out collecting tags like crazy and we won by 3. It was enough. That's what team play is about-do what it takes to win.

I agree w/OP-we need more incentive. I hate having a stray greenie sniping from some bush, going 20-2 and we lose because he's not hitting the objective. Take away his purpose for existing or make winning so fab everyone wants to do it.

I am the same way. I have gone negative in games before in which I could have reasonably been the most valuable player on my team. Sounds like an Oxymoron, but because I took the chance at breaking through the enemy line or getting rid of the camper keeping us out of an area or the objective, my team was able to make strides and turn the tide of a game.

My point was that I agree with the OP as well, would love to see victory valued over individual achievement in CoD.

How about this: More incentive for PTFO. Better yet allow players to disable stat tracking. If some players didn't piss their pants freaking out about some non-relevant number they might be more inclined to just play the game. God knows having it in doesn't stop people from screwing off as is sitting in a corner for 5 solid minutes.

They tried that in MW3 with support streaks and objective points counting towards a streak.

What's your idea versus whinging on it?

Just remove K/D stats from the scoreboard. Simple as that.

But wouldn't that nullify weapon stats, too?

I like my weapon stats. When Elite works and I can see them.

every other Tuesday or so, it seems.

win a match you get a 1.5x xp bonus at the end...that's incentive enough.

Good post OP. I totally agree. Give the winning team enough extra points to make people think twice about playing for K/D instead of the win. I would rank up so fast with my 20.50 W/L with over 2700wins to only 136 losses. Sure I play in a party full time but with like minded players. We will go negative if it means winning the match. They took a step in the right direction giving you credit towards your point streak for taking objectives. They need to take it further with the OP's idea.
