The perfect way to balance Ghost/Assassin for all future cods

If you choose Ghost/Assassin then you get no minimap, simple as that.
Came up with this idea last night when playing Core KC and wishing there was a perk to disable my minimap, absolutely hate when a UAV is up and only 2 or 3 people show up so one dot gets close, you go for him then a hidden user gets you, if I didn't have a radar to look at I wouldn't have followed that dot and got killed myself, that's my reasoning for it and after thinking about it, it would probably leave 99% of the haters happy, when they get killed by hidden user it would be, ah its OK, guy has no radar, thoughts?
Dumb, the way everyone complains over the years wether it's Juggs, stopping power and now Ghost, we might as well not have perks.
Can you explain what's "dumb" about it?
The fact that every COD game since MW has had people complaining about the games perks one way or another. They have changed the perks multiple times and have taken most of the decent perks out. You wanting them to have no "mini map" is ridicule. Before taking out things like that why don't you start by taking out the ability to get basically unlimited EMPS in a game. Also they did take away from that perk already by splitting it with Blind Eye. This all leaves a very unbalanced game play, therefor being dumb.
Have you ever played any other CODs?
All of them.
I could not agree more, bitzazrael. MW3 is by far the most perfectly balanced perk system of any CoDs. I think that it is one of the things that they did great.
And the EMPs are out of control. EMPs are supposed to be a big thing. A game changer. Youre supposed to be suprised when it happens. I wish they would have either made them something crazy high for support, like 25, or somthing on the much higher end for assault, maybe 15 like in MW2. To make it more worth the extra effort to get one, make them last an extra half minute. Just as long as you arent getting EMP'd at least once every single game. In one match of Domination I once got EMP'd 6 times.
Its basically the run n gun red dot chasers that are always mad about it. Either adapt or keep dying.
They're also the ones who whines about pretty much everything from EMP, Support Strike Package, Stealth Bombers, and even Silencers. They always want the game to cater to their playstyle and have difficulty adopting.
Adapt or keep dying, did you read my post? I don't want a UAV, don't need it, wish there was a way to disable it and thought to myself it would be a great way to balance Assassin and Ghost for people who complain about it.
i do just fine, but still don't get assasin. why have it? it's only use is to camp. splitting blind eye and assasin up was good, but drop assassin alltogether. juggernaut isn't necessary, but vests basically replace it. it's the only perk that i hate. all the rest i either don't use or don't care about. kinda annoying when the entire team is running assassin
Well I think all the weapons and perks are op. in black ops 2 I hope that the aim of the game is to all sit in a circle, holding hands and sing kum baya. Sweet!
As long as I can include my guitar hero guitar and play some wango tango to get my killstreak up.
I'm sure the devs suggesting they would do such a thing would make a lot of people happy ........ but once they did it they wouldnt be happy anymore, they would just find some other way it needs nerfed.
Personally, I wouldnt have an issue with it, but it makes about as much sense as blind eye users not being able to use air support, flak jacket wearers not allowed explosives, ec users not being able to hold still or even walk slowly, sitrep users no equipement ......... you can take it from there.
Had no idea ghost/assassin was unbalanced in the first place.
#newstome
lol an easy counter is to not stare at the mini map and chase red dots the whole game. I don't understand all the ghost/assassin crying the perk has been in the game since COD4.
I would just rather have it not there altogether like in HC, would be awesome both for people like me who find the radar as a distraction and also stop the Assassin OP crap I hear all the time.
Except in CoD4, WaW and MW2, there was an offensive perk to counter it. BO and MW3 have no offensive perk in the same slot to counter it.
Just make it to where the UAV only works for the person who called it in...its that simple.

Its not very often, in these forums, someone uses common sense. UAV's are the biggest problem in COD. Scrubs chase red dots and then complain when you dont show up. Red dots are the number 1 reason why people dont move.
Anti UAV perks are run n gunners best friend. If there wasnt a way to stay off the map, COD would become a complete joke.
half-megatron gets 2 thumbs up for this suggestion. It would definately be a great start in removing the training wheels that so many people think they require.
Wow, I missed this. Excellent idea. Also, make it where the whole team can't see the same portable radar, like it was on BO. It would give people less of an incentive to use Assasin.
Nah sorry that's too big a nerf.
Assassin is a good perk, but getting rid of the minimap? That is way too big of a disadvantage in public matches. Minimap is used not just for finding enemies, but to see where your teammates are, where they're dying etc. And ya it definitely helps with finding enemies.
Assassin is only overpowered because of people's reliance on UAVs, and the only reason people rely on UAVs so much is because they are so easy to get. I've had a few ideas for solutions.
1. Put Blind eye and Assassin in same perk slot. While this doesn't solve the problem it does eliminate the possibility for an all stealth class.
2. Make UAV a higher killstreak, 4 for assault, and 5-6 for support (if support still exists). As it stands it is way too easy to spam UAVs, especially with Hardline. If there are fewer UAVs than Assassin won't be as helpful.
3. Get rid of it. Make UAV a relatively high killstreak (5 for assault) and just get rid of assassin/Ghost. This was essentially the same as MW2 where SP was in the same tier and almost no one used ghost.
4. Put other amazing perks in the same tier slot. The issue here is that the only perks that I've seen that can compare to Assassin for amateur players (which is who the majority of assassin using campers are) are Stopping Power, and sleight of hand pro in BO. I don't want stopping power back, so this likely wont work either.
I think the best solution is number 1. You could even put DS in the same slot so that you can always be detected by 2 of UAV/Air Support/Sound.
While you do make some good points I still think it would be great if we were able to choose a perk to disable minimap and think Assassin would be the best one for it.
Not a good idea - Ghost has already been dumbed down enough with blind eye and you will still have the cry babies dot chasers complaining so I don't see the point.
I kinda like the idea. They could also make uav a 5 or 6 killstreak. Less uav spam equals less players using ghost/assassin. Either way i think ghost/assassin is a crutch. So much so, that I would recomend it to people who are new to COD. Its sad when i see experienced players using it. I only use it on my spas 12 class because of the random hitmarkers and the time in between shots. I need that crutch because the pump action shotguns are tough to use in this game for those reasons. Otherwise its hardline pro with my stinger shooting down your uav.
why is it sad that i dont want to show up on your radar? i dont camp and love assasin/ghost. there is almost ALWAYS a uav in the air. less than a minute into a match all your hear is enemy uav is in the air. if there werent so darn many uavs i wouldnt use it as much even though i only have it on about two or three classes.
as for shooting them down? sometimes even when you hear there is a uav in the air you cant find it in the sky sometimes not to mention it leaves you vulnerable to getting shot. i always wondered why the guy shooting me while im trying to take down a copter shoots me first and then dies by the copter right after (duh) why not wait for me to shoot it then shoot me? i am helping you out after all (unless of course its your 'copter) thats what i do let you shoot your rocket then off with your head.
go play hardcore, if you dont want a mini map or even more simple dont look at it. also you might want to stop chasing red dots....
not another one of these threads there is only one way to make ghost/assassin balanced is to bring back stopping power simple as that
Look, I used to think that Assassin was overpowered. But then I realized that anyone not using it I felt bad for. It really is hard to justify using anything other than Assassin.
Assassin is fine the way it is, just use your eyes and you'll see them.
Aww... did someone get killed by the guy not on his baby monitor? Try Hardcore if you don't like it. I'm not saying I don't use it to gather information on where the enemy is, but I don't blindly run at dots either.
A perk shouldn't give people a disadvantage, no other tier two perk does..
Mw3 is a lost cause since support streaks are so easy to get, of course people will overuse Assassin Pro which is too multifunctional as it is.
How 3arch should balance ghost / uav spam for Black ops II
First off no support streaks. Too easy to spam uavs. Just plain old Streaks (with the point streak addition of mw3, rewarding objective play / anti airsupport) but no stacking of point streaks with lethal steaks. Making people earn their streaks & still rewarding objective / team
play
Uav streaks;
1. 3 uav (personal radar) 30 seconds, 3 personal radar jammer (everybody of the other team nearby you gets jammed)
2. 5 team uav 40 seconds & 5 counter uav 40 seconds
6. 9 Advanced uav / blackbird 50 seconds
Ghost should cover team uavs when moving aka make the sweep 3 times slower on Ghost / Assassin users. Cuavs should work against ghost *unless the player has the specialist bonus. More ways to counter uavs than only using ghost and shooting them down (where ghost is again a must to not get shot while trying to shoot them down). Finally when the man who calls in the uavs, team uav and cuav dies, their uavs should automatically dissapear, bar for the advanced uav, meaing people would need to be good to keep uavs in the air.
Ghost pro should be the basic; Ghost counters uavs / radar jammer streaks and team uavs when moving and ghost pro gives no name tag plus ghillie suit suited for the maps environment. Basically don't make it multi functional by splitting it up with blind eye and other perks effectively & don't make uavs very easy to spam.
you say dont make it easy to spam and yet you give 3 different uav streaks at 2 4 and 8 using hardline. Right.
The first two are only personal and ghost completely counters them and all uavs disappear once you kill the man who called it in, bar for the blackbird. I would use a LW / flak (in blops) perk much more then, now I'm forced to use assassin when moving around. You need zero skill to get uavs up in mw3 and to keep them up. You would now need 5 point streaks to get a team uav without dying and if you die, it automatically goes down too.
Imo uavs are OP as their are in mw3 not necessarily Assassin, which is too multifunctional compared to other tier two perks (and I would change that as well like said). Uavs speed up the game so I'm not necessarily against them, only when they get very easy to spam constantly forcing people to constantly rock assassin pro in mw3.
How many people would rock assassin / ghost when A. 3 streak uavs are only personal and B. 5 streaks uavs are team uavs which also disappear when the creator dies. Plus they are not support streak, so people need to stay alive to get them in the first place.
In mw3 basically the only counter to uavs is using Assassin and shooting them down. With the system above it would be counter uavs and superior gun skill next to ghost for the more stealthy players who run around flanking people (effectively countering team uavs).
Actually the OP makes a valid point, if you have Assassin on, you should be like one right? I like the idea Craig1690! ![]()
