Sit rep pro question

All my clan have been raving on about sit rep pro and how good it is, so i decided i would get it. Last night i got it pro and i cant tell the difference. I still cant hear enemy footsteps any clearer or louder. Is this beause of all the gun fire/exposions etc going off all the time, or is it more of an advantage in SnD.

I use a set of turtle beach DPX21's(7.1 sourround sound) so this should be perfect for me sound whoring. I dont think sit rep pro is that good.

Have you guys/girls got any ideas why this is not woking for me??

    Re: Sit rep pro question

sitrep pro takes a little getting used to, just remember any sounds you hear are from the opposing team it makes your own teams footsteps silent so just keep using it, also depends on what the other team was using when u couldnt hear the footsteps, anyone using dead silence u wont hear, so maybe they were mostly using that or staying still so you couldnt hear anything

Turn on the "enhanced" option and give that a shot.

Its on the headset wire,"little black box" where vol/bass/chat is located.  Nex to the mute slide, I thinks its called "enhanced"...

@spankhiccup - please post if this works for you.  I run with the same headset, but haven't taken the time to unlock SitRep Pro since it takes so long to take out that much enemy equipment and I prefer Stalker Pro's ability to strafe while ADSing

                Re: Sit rep pro question

Just to confirm. I used the Turtle Beach headset till it went haywire on me. The sitrep pro was really useful. But yes i had to use the enhanced button. I have since went to the Paystation 7.1 headset.

By far the best headset in my opinion. For some reason while using sitrep pro the enemy footsteps and reloads were super loud. I could tell where they were anytime hey came withing 30ft or so. Its was AMAZING. But i recently started on KC because of clan ops. Its is useless for me to use that perk because your running around to much.

As for hardcore, i would never use another perk other than sitrep pro. Dead silence is good, but its not as fun. Plus on HC so many claymores and "scare" packages and trophy systems, you can always tell where the enemy might be camping.

And to be honest, 9 times outta 10....you get him everytime.

In my opinion, its one of the best perks on this game. Next to stalker....i honestly dont know how i went without stalker before.

wth sitreps ability to see enemy explosives and the pro varient putting the enemys pockets full of change so you can here them like they are running to an arcade. You cant go wrong with it..

Especially on HC. I really hope they bring it back in the next series, aswell as stalker

                        Re: Sit rep pro question

I hear what your saying spank. But i use it exclusivly unless im using an smg. But for AR or LMGs its almost a "need" If i dont use it as a perk i make sure i have it for my specialist killstreak.

For sniper rifle i can go either way. It dont matter. But this perk helps for QSers also...Strafing while spraying belittles their ablity.

I myself cant looking doewn sites and moving i couple inches a sec. Almost annoying after you have gotten used to stalker. Pro verison saves my butt lots of times from IMS's and claymores

hey guys, i took the time to get sitrep pro the last three prestige levels because i found it extremely useful in hardcore clan ops and SND....also u can get sitrep pro in hardcore very easy...in hardcore ur own teams equi[pment will appear red and so will urs after a few seconds.i thought it would take forever to get sit rep pro as well but i did this once last prestige and got like half of the equipment  pieces destroyed in like ten minutes..it didnt take me long at all the other times... u would be surprised how fast u rack up the numbers....u only need 40 or 60 (cant remember) so i would suggest using it in  HARDCORE...getting the emblem seems like alot i will say that lol

Got tritton ax pros and it makes a big difference to me when I use it. You can still hear your own teams footsteps unlike what someone said above, but the enemies are alot louder and sound a little different aswel. Try pairing it with dead silence in the specialist package, this will make a huge difference.

I have the Tritton too but I still find SitRep pro hit & miss with the sound whoring. It really depends on the map and the amount of kill streaks in the air.

I find it much better on maps with lots of buildings etc. More open ones and you don;t get much benefit.

    Re: Sit rep pro question

It's a pretty nice perk.  I use it with the Specialist Package using Hardline in the 2nd spot and Dead Silence in the 3rd.  That way it's only one kill to receive Dead Silence Pro and Sit Rep Pro at the same time which is nice for "sound whoring".  Though I do think  Sit Rep Pro should be Dead Silence Pro like it has been in the past (though I tend to have a problem with almost everything this game does) but it works in that combo.

The biggest problem for me is that SRP takes while to obtain.  it takes a long time for me to destroy 50 pieces of equipment, which can be an issue if you're still prestiging...

But yeah, even though sound wise it's somewhat subtle, it definitely makes a difference, especially when you team it up with Dead Silence...

Sitrep pro made a huge difference in MW2.  I do not really notice in MW3.  I have had the same set of trittons since MW2 and maybe they are just old and do not work as good.

    Re: Sit rep pro question

Also team mates footsteps are still too loud( i thought the pro made them quieter).

Big misconception. Maybe that was how it is supposed to work, but that is not reality.

You need to use a perk for a long time before you get a real appreciation for it. If you haven't been using SitRep/Pro, you need to use it for more than 5 or 10 matches. Use it for 40 or 50 matches. Better yet, complete the challenges for it. Destroy 250 equipment and get 750 kills using SitRep Pro. As you do that, mix and match it with various lethals, tacticals, kill streak rewards, Strike packages, and other perks.

It sucks that some things in the game only work well if they are combined with specific other aspects ... but if it were not that way, things could get overpowered.

    Re: Sit rep pro question

I notice the difference straight away from going from sit rep to the pro version. And I was Initially using a 5.1 home surround sound. There were times where it almost hindered me because I got so paranoid thinking someone was close by when they were infact quite a distance away. Lol.

I got my Astros now (as you know) and I get a better sense if the direction / and distance with these.

Friendly footsteps in my opinion as an avid sit rep pro user are not silent and not even that much quieter. I get paranoid sometimes when I hear footsteps behind me only to find a team mates spawned on my back.

They do take some getting used to my friend. Accompanied with dead silence is amazing, my specialist package choice these days grants me dead silence first so I can hear everything a little better (while I'm on the move).

Outpost is the most noticeable map. When enemies walk on the snow it sounds like someone is eating cereal in your ear lol.

Yeah i'l be on during the day too, off work today as I've caught a nasty bug off my work mate. Feeling pretty shite.

I have SRP on my TBDPX21s and I was noting the same as you. I could hear a difference but it was not stellar.  When I turn the expander on the sound is crap (as mentioned above) so I could always turn the DSS off (so why did I buy that!?)
