BLOPS2 Is Going Up Against Some Big Titles This Year!

Apart from a couple of big named games that came out towards the end of last year (Skyrim) , MW3 kind of had free run in the FPS world. It may have outsold anything else but the writing is on the wall. MW3 sales are not as easy on the eyes for Activision like BLOPS was this time last year - it's not keeping up. Nevertheless, judging by YouTube and forums, it seems that the majority of people were disappointed with MW3 and most probably will wait/rent BLOPS2 before jumping in and pre-ordering like we did for MW3.

 

Anyway, if this was the case for a shooter that had no immiediate competitiors...can you imagine what it's going to be like with other big franchises coming out this year? We have Halo and Respawn Entertainments (old Infinity Wards futuristic shooter too) going up against BLOPS2 among others (GTA5 taking sales away also). My question is: will the sh!t hit the fan in 2012?

    Battlefail 3 came out shortly before MW3.

      Respawn hasn't even announce dit's game so I doubt that's going to come in Novermber 2012. Franklu competition for games has never been higher than it was last November, it was incredible the quality games coming out then. This year there's pretty much nothing, Blops2 should clean up as not much else has been announced.

      Battlefield 3 is a great game but as a war simulator, it's in a totally different category than MW3. It's also worth noting that BF3 ate into Activisions market share.

        It's a very good competitor especially with the close quarters expansion coming soon, the game once you get into makes COD seem a bit poofy.

         

        If Treyarch can't come up with the goods this time around COD is done for IMO, IW really dropped the ball last year, they were so confident they didn't even try.....

    Hey Ghosty we need to play again, I haven't played you since BLOPS! I don't mind 2 barring! I'm not sure if you deleted me or not though.

     

     

    I think Black Ops 2 has a chance this year, I'm feelin it.

      I deleted all but about 25-30 friends that are either in my clan or that I've known for years - sorry. Send me another friends request if you like.

       

      Work has kept me busy lately so I've hardly played MW3 - that plus Skyrim and the fact that MW3 is a 'meh' sort of game.

       

      But I liked Waw more than Cod4 and I liked Black Ops more than I liked MW2 so if the trend continues...

    Call me a Treyarch fanboy if you want but I've always felt that they made the better CoD.

    Even if there was big competition coming out this year, it would be competing with call of duty not the other way around.

    Dude, we will be lucky if we see something out of Respawn by the time Black Ops 3 comes out, not chance of us even seeing a glimpse of what they have instore this year.  But other games will compete for the Xmas noob's love again this year.  Halo is being pretty balsy with their release, but they want to recapture that # 1 spot, so we will have to see.

    Batman, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Saints Row 3, Uncharted(PS3),  Assassins Creed, Zelda(Wii), SWOTOR in december. Last year was probably the toughest competion in the 4Q Call Of Duty has ever seen. Not much this year, especially in the FPS category, what other games are coming out in Q4 this year?

    People saying that about Black Ops vs Medal Of Honor and the community barely even noticed Medal Of Honor. Last year all the talk was about how Battlefield 3 was going to knock MW3 right off the top spot and guess what? It barely touched it (although did more damage than MOH did). This year we will have Black Ops 2 vs Medal Of Honor again. Guess who will win.

      Black ops. Call of duty is huge you know its going to come out on top. Especially when the only really fun MOH game was the last one released. All the ones previous to it just feel slow, so i dont know for sure if people will jump on it as fast as they will a Cod game which has had a pretty decent streak of great games/game sales.

        Hold your horses, you knew less than 1% about this game, you can't then got an say it's going to be the game of the year. MW3 didn't win last year, other games are catching up, they may not beat COD on sales but quality sure as hell is better. After E3 we'll know everything that's coming out this year, still some mysteries. I'd bet good money there will be something to contend against come November.

      COD will simply win because it is less offensive, there is less foul language, no nudity or sexual content ect..It is a larger fan base of adolescents. War fighter and others suit an Adult crowd. No offense.

        Fan base = nothing, when it comes to game of the year. COD has the largest fan base of any game yet it did not win last year. In terms of quality and wow factor the game simply has none compared to some of the things. Skyrim last year delieved the wow factor and that's what it takes to win GOTY.

         

        We know nothing about this game or whether it'll actually be something new or just another copy & pasted COD game. Kinda silly making wild statements like that this early in the year. Mass Effect 3 got great reviews and people loved it, that's all it takes.

    @quagers13 i know im just saying cods fans almost always lap up pretty much whatever is given to them. And @a.s.p.alien i agree with you completely, although i wish that there was an option to turn the dialog down so you couldnt hear it or to just turn the cussing off alltogother.
