Well. What can I say...
It finally happened.
The disc reader for my wii finally broke... ![]()
I can't say that I'm mad. I've had three and a half great years with my wii, it was bound to happen eventually with all of the CoD that I play. I just never thought it would happen to my wii because I take decently good care of it, I'm saddened that it finally occured. Right in the middle of my second game of the day, Nonetheless!! I was pulling a 16-2 and just about to whip out my helicopter when it just shut off and showed the error screen. Unfortunate that it would happen in the middle of a good match instead of the beginning or in a crappy match. Oh well, that's life I guess.
That being said, I'm not going to repair my wii seing as I can still play zelda, starfox, and supermario 64. All wonderful classics. I'll still hang around here as well, keep contributing, you know the whole nine yards.
I'll start saving up for the wii U now, I guess. If it has a favorable price on release (under $350) I'll get it right away, but if not, I'll wait until the first or second price drop as I'm sure it'll happen within a few months of release. I will never buy a playstation or xbox, I'm just too fond of the prominent motion controls. So, we'll see where it goes from here.
Stay thirsty my friends,
Mace
If your disc drive reads other games then it's not borken, it's just on it's last legs. I had a few freinds who has they're wiis stop playing CoD. They came back to it a day later after playing nothing on it at all and leaving it unplugged and it ran CoD again. If it breaks completely ther is always the play from a USB drive option.
my xbox keeps saying "disc unreadable" to mw3, and the only game too, and the disc is near clean tbh.
Well thats Xbox and not Wii so your point is not valid here. good bye.
no, I tried a couple other disks as well and they don't work either. I'll try again tomorrow for sure but I noted the sounds of the reader when the disks were in and it wasn't pretty so I'm positive it's all the way gone.
And I'm just not dedicated enough to go the USB route. I haven't looked into it but I'm sure that will cot me some moolah as well and I'm better off not spending anything at this point since I'm in college.
As long as you have an SD card and 8+ GB USB drive you won't have to spend any money.
nope and nope.
correction. SD card, check.
USB drive is definitely a nope
correction again lol. SD card= nope. however I do have a micro SD card with an SD adapter
An 8GB USB drive is not expensive. It's a helluva alot cheaper then the repair and shipping costs.
I'll look into it. but with only two weeks left before I go back home for summer it's not really that big of a deal for me. My mom has a wii at home so I can just play off of that for the most part. the first few months of school won't matter either because I'll be in soccer season until mid-november or later. By that time the WiiU will be released and voila.
Just use an usb, and quickscope once against me!
Well if you change your mind you don't have to pay full price to get it repaired. It was $85 for tax and shipping. I talked them down to $60 for everything. They keep your save data and you get a one year warranty.
If you don't have the money it is spring time. You can go mow a few yards. 20 bucks a pop. 3 yards and you got a refurbished wii, save data and a warranty. And I'm not trying to be rude. Just putting it into perspective. It's a good deal. If mine breaks again I'll actually do that. There's a few old ladies in the neighborhood that have people mow their yard. I'll do it for 20, undercut the other guy, mow 3 yards, and get mine repaired.
Still may not be worth it to you but I love my Wii. Mine broke in the winter so I just forked out the money, but if it happend now, I'd be mowing some yards.
unfortunately I won't really have the time, not even during summer. On top of trying to find a job I'll be doing up to several workouts a day for soccer. My coach likes to lay it heavy on us, even during summer when we get a "break." on top of that I'm going on at least one mission trip and doing a community service project for my school. not a whole lot of free time this summer so I'm likely just to relax and enjoy what I have.
Thanks for the suggestion though
So when your WII is broken you can still take out the save data?
Why save up for Wii U? Blops 2 might be on Wii.
Its called Backwards compatible. Why fix something that is old when I can get something new that has the same capabilities as the old with new and improved added features.
He's right, no point getting it fixed. Who needs COD (unless your addicted).
You might say I'm addicted. Regardless, its already been confirmed that the wiiU is backwards compatible so I can play my Wii games on there when I get it
They shouldn't do that. Sell the games again-get more money. Win for nintendo.
Because they're not money whores like activision?
