I don't think that halo 4s sales will be as high as some people think they'll be.
I don't really think Activision is sweating it much either.
CoD > Halo no brainer to me.

I think we will learn a lot by when Activision decides to release Blops 2. Releasing on the same day will hurt sales. The question is will they release it before or after Halo?

it will be launched the same day, Halo doesnt stand a chance, and because this years COD is made by Treyarch and DEFINATELY has Zombies it will hopefully do aswell as Black Ops did lets face it MW3 really isnt that good, this is my vid, where in Gadget Show live this year the brouchure given out confirms Black Ops 2 for 360, PS3, PC, Wii and is due Nov 2012, and confirmes Zombies and gives campaign details. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wb1KadlKZgc

Cod doesn't need to do anything; Halo is a very different game to CoD (ne which I am not a fan of, 2 mags and a melee for a kill makes a very annoying shooter IMO)
The only thing this will affect is if CoD comes out on the same date; i really don't fancy waiting in a midnight queue DOUBLE it's normal size due to people waiting for one, the other or both.....
Lets not forget that Nov 6th is right in line with when CoD comes out ( first or second week in Nov, on a tuesday), which is why i am wondering about whether CoD will come out the same day as Halo.

I think that COD will still sell, but with Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Halo 4 near the same time as BLOPS 2 I think COD will only lose a couple of hundred thousand copies in potential sales to the competition.

Oh yeah, MOH Warfighter; made by the same team that failed badly at the last MOH, give me a break; that will flop just as badly as the last one, especially when DICE aren't making the MP.
The only semi decent thing about MOH 2010 was the MP; even that was rubbish and rushed, imagine what crap Warfighter will have without DICEs help.

As for now we can only guess on how good it will be, never underestimate the competition that is the first rule of business, or that's when I have been told at least.

I'm surprised Halo chose early November. I think BF3's decision to go for late october was a lot better, but probably the best release date for a FPS that is trying to compete with CoD would be late september to early october. They'd get a lot of sales from people who play CoD but are more than tired of the current release, and are looking forward to the next CoD, and/or are looking for an alternative.

I agree. Was quite surprised at the late date. All Bungie Halo games were released in September so I expected somtime around then. Another interesting aspect is the impact this coud have on the Microsoft-Activision relationship. Halo is Microsoft's game and they seem to have decided to target CoD with the release date. The contract Microsoft has with Activision giving XBL the DLC for CoD first runs out this year I think. Wonder if this opens the door for Sony to secure a similar contract for the future...
Ultimately I will probably play Halo first since I grew up on Halo, am not a big Treyarch fan, and I'm betting Halo 5 will be the lead game for the next Xbox in 2013 or 2014 so I'm curious to see what 343's done with the series.

there will hopefully be no more DLC early deals coming from an Xbox owner, im not boasting about it, I think its stupid and unfair to other gamers, but Sony wont do a contract because they dont care about there customers

I'm willing to bet that it's going to be a November release with pure intentions in competing with CoD.
Just like BF3 CoD will demolish the competition.

Black Ops 2 will more than likely release afterwards.
It worked last year. I'm not saying COD is a better game than BF3 or GOW3, however, they waited until after those games has been out for a while, people started to drop em cause they didn't like it or wanted something new, and then COD comes as a savior, well so did Skyrim.
Sadly COD had a REALLY rough opening, but that's the risk of doing business for a huge fanbase.

To do that they would need to release it at least 2-3 weeks after Halo to try an lure away people that have "had their fill" of Halo. I think they might try and release it the week before...
Oh S***! I bet they release it the day before Halloween. That would make a ton of sense because they could hype up zombies like mad! That's when they will do it I bet. Plus most people will still be interested with Blops 2 when Halo comes out.

Well if you played on the PC you could get mods and then you wouldn't have to wait for October or November.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will apparently release either 12th November OR 11th December, it will apparently have a NEW game engine, it will be revealed fully on May 2nd, this information has yet to be confirmed, however a new FB page titled Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has been made, which has all the neccessary info, like Call of Duty and Black Ops are trademarks etc, and it has some more images like the leaked poster the other day, but clearer and has the logo and all, the date says 12-11-12, which is why i dont know whether its the UK date or the american date, but the 11th december is a tuesday, and most COD games have been released then so... this could be fake but I think its hype, so guys what do you think http://www.facebook.com/botwo

One indication that it might drop in 12/11 is the fact that they extended Elite subsrciptions an extra month - meaning that if you activated it on launch week it will now expire around 12/8. Although this might piss people off even more since the hope/expectation of the bonus month of Elite would give everyone that put up with the difficulties of Elite a free month to test out Elite 2.0's features on Blops 2.

well i thought coz ps3/pcs last content drop is in october, releasing BLOPS 2 in November would be too early which is why there holding it back, but it also could be that they need more time to work on the new game engine

It is to bad that they are releasing each other so close in time. I was looking forward to halo 4 coming out at halo's usual time frame ( late september ). It gives me something to play for a couple of months before the next COD game. I will buy both but halo will have to take a back seat for awhile.

They will likely move it to the following week. More time is always better for bug testing (one would think)
