I will do **** every game because i'm an Assault rifle user, i rarely use sub machine guns. Every game i'm just getting raped by sub-machine guns, i do dropshot, pretty much the only way i can survive an MP7 or P90. I'm currently leveling the G36C, amazing gun, but not against six people with sub machine guns. So which do you prefer, Assault or sub ?
No offense, but if your constantly getting beat by a sub machine gun and your using an assault rifle, then you either suck or you aren't using it right.
I use both, but mostly I'm an Assault Rifle guy. Its not hard to figure out that an SMG dominates an Assault Rifle in close quarters because of a higher fire rate and better damage. If you're using an Assault Rifle you're goal should be to make every kill at medium range. You shouldn't be rushing enemeis spawns with an ACR, You should be running between choke points picking guys off as they leave the spawn.
I flank round the edges, or whatever you call it. I never run through the middle of the map with an AR, i use Marksman. And what your saying makes no sense, so i suck because i can't beat a sub machine gun in a head on battle ? They have a much better fire rate than an AR + the MP7 is capable of killing accros the map.
SMGs are less accurate and do less damage at longer ranges than ARs. Like DL said, you want to keep your fights in the ranges where you have an advantage over the SMG users. This might be difficult, because those SMG users are also trying to keep their fights in the ranges where they have the advantage.
You know me sir!! I'm run and gun almost all the time so an SMG really just fits my play style. I prefer the MP-7 or UMP45.
I picked up your G36C yesterday though, it was a great weapon. Only got 2 kills from it but it seemed to have little recoil and a good fire rate (though I haven't looked at the stats). I'll have to give it a go and let you know what I think.
And let's not be hateful dlund, Nazerr was simply pointing out, I think, that most people run with SMG's and not AR's or LMG's.
I was just having this same conversation with a friend of mine. I've been using SMGs only for the last several prestiges and now that I am done trying to level up I picked up an AR (G36C) for the first time in months. I absolutely suck with it. I get some decent mid-range kills, but play-style is really what will dictate how well a weapon will work for you. It doesn't mean the weapon sucks.
For example, I do much better with the G36C on DZ where my tactics result either defending the zone from cover or trying to infiltrate; much more mid-range combat. On KC, I am constantly running, getting kills and grabbing tags which lends to more close-range situations where an SMG will have the upper hand.
