After entering prestige mode, what do YOU do?

So I wanted to start this thread as an advise column for anyone that dreads resetting their stats and entering prestige mode. We can all admit that when we hit level 80 on any prestige there is a little dread that comes along with it. You do start over and have to work hard at unlocking everything that was previously available to you. Yes, it takes a bit of time, but this thread will help you get past the point of dread and back into hardcore gaming mode fast!
Here's what I do: First I play a few matches of any game mode, enough to get to level 4 or 5. Then I setup my DROP class. There is a reason to play DROP ZONE for all the haters out there and I'm about to explain why.
My Drop Class consists of : Any SMG (P90 preferred)
Pretty much any secondary (I prefer stinger)
Flash
Semtex
RECON - essential!!!
BLAST SHIELD - essential!!!
STEADY AIM (note: I've unlocked quite a few things with prestige tokens, any 3rd perk is fine, I prefer Steady)
The reason this works so well is because 99% of the time you know exactly where the enemy is, is going to be and where they are coming from. Start off the map lighting the enemy up with a flash bang, immediately they show up on the map and the fun begins. Try and hold the drop zone as much as possible. This is good for your BLAST SHIELD perk as people will be constantly throwing nades & flashes your way. You should be able to get at least half-way to PRO by the end of one match, yes ONE MATCH!!!
When you die, be sure to light the enemy up again with nades and flashes, not only are you helping out your team tremendously, you are also ranking up RECON. In these matches I will typically have 20 or more assists in one game, my high was last night I had a match with 32 assists. While you don't get a ton of points for assists, at this point in the game any and all points get you leveled back up to where you want to be.
GET BACK TO THE DROP ZONE!!! Not only do you score points for holding the zone, this is the only way to level up your BLAST SHIELD quickly. Don't forget about RECON either, you can easily get caught up in the rush of getting the care packages or killing tons of enemies. THOSE ARE NOT YOUR MAIN GOALS. Your main goals are to FLASH/NADE as many people as possible, get and hold the drop zone (boosts your BLAST SHIELD), and stay alive. Nobody wants to go negative. ![]()
Continue these techniques for 4-5 games tops and you will have BLAST SHIELD PRO, RECON PRO and be at or above level 20 in no time. It is so easy to do and for me level 20 is when you unlock the SPECIALIST killstreak and above all else that is my main goal. Once I've unlocked that, it's time for more HC KC. In these matches I will typically earn 10 - 15 thousand xp, which at this level of the game is a ton and you level up way fast.
I went from level 5 to level 12 in ONE match of drop zone yesterday. Granted I did complete the 250 headshots with the P90 during that match so that helped. ![]()
So, I hope you find this helpful. Don't dread having to start all over again! Hopefully with my tips and the tips from others will help you get back into Rambo mode in no time.
Please feel free to leave any HELPFUL comments you have found work for getting you back to the level you desire. Again, this thread is about helping the community with your tips and tricks on how to get back into the game quickly. NO hate please. I will give some points to helpful answers.
I usually question why the hell I did that again, but I like your answer too.
Good post, and smart way of going about getting your levels up. Will try it at my next Prestige just to see ![]()
nice tutorial here when i prestige i normally hit a few games of drop zone also to get my rank back up to 20 before i hit specialist
1 thing i have noticed tho your game xp from drop zone dont totally count towards ur total xp ![]()
Nice man, you know I've never really noticed that. I don't play drop zone that often and definitely not often enough to hurt me in the long run. But for those first levels 1-20 it's the easiest & fastest way I've found to get me back to where I need to be. ![]()
What I found to be a great way to level up quickly in the beginning of a prestige is any veteran weapon kill count. For instance, work a weapon up to 2450 or so in Veteran Kills, then prestige. Remember to only do this to weapons that you will have unlocked at level 4. After prestigeing, simply finish off the count and collect 10,000xp early which makes a huge difference when leveling early. This has worked well for me and it also makes you use other weapons you would not normally use.
Happy hunting! ![]()
Great tip zvers!
I just try and get past the first few levels quickly so I can get the Tknife back, apart from that I don't care about having to do it all again cause nothing works properly for me in this game anyway. ![]()
No matter how hard I try, I can't hit anything with the TKnife. That is unless I'm using the riot shield and the dude is standing 2 feet in front of me. Then, I can hit them.
Might just be the crappy game though lol, I sometimes throw it and it'll look like I've hit them and I'll think WTF! it should of killed them, then when I watch the killcam I never even threw it..![]()
It's not that hard to use though. ![]()
agreed, I do the same.. cant wait to get my T.Knife back.. its on all my classes..
and since you said about throwing and not getting the kill check out this :
Haha! I swear they just sometimes bounce off peoples heads and stuff, I was trying to get a guy once and my knife looked like it kept bouncing off of him, I had to pick up 3 scavenger bags before I actually got him. ![]()
It is annoying though..![]()
when i prestige, i choose a new gun, do its mastery then back to aa12.
great post and great advice .. i did have a question what should i do with my token this time ? the first time i used it for double weapon xp , next time for double ex xp , this last time i used it to keep the acr.. but i dont know what would be best for this time would it be possible to unlock the portable radar?
For me I only used it on 2xp once. After that it seemed like a waste. I've unlocked extra custom classes with them, but mostly used them on the equipment.
My advice is to unlock the gun/equipment/perk that you want that ISN'T available until you are ranked higher. Anything that is unlocked at about 30 and above seems to be a good choice. You can get through levels 1-30 pretty quick so no need to waste a token on items received there.
I've unlocked the Stinger, Steady Aim, P90, MP7, portable radar and something else...I just for the life of me can't remember right now. Most of these you have to wait for quite a while to unlock and I find them useful all the time.
yeah i think i am gonna go for the mp7 next time as you have to be at 77 to unlock it and i have heard how boss that gun is and i have never really used it i usually stick to acr/type95 for assault rifle .. and ump45 on my rushing classes i use for dome.
I just tag whore in Kill Confirmed for a game. After that I'm at least a level 4, so I have all my custom classes set up. Then I just play the game normally. Prestige tokens have made the game so easy, I no longer have to wait for my favorite guns, they're ready for me after one game
Great stuff dlund. Tag whoring is another great way to get some serious points. I swear one match I joined late, close to the end, and there were all these tags laying about. So i went around like a vacuum cleaner collecting all the tags, killing some along the way and collecting new tags. Getting killed, but the game only lasted like 2 minutes after I joined.
I ended up with 8 kills 4 deaths and my score was above 2 guys who had like 20 kills each but obviously were not going for the tags as much. It was just a great example of how collecting the tags in KC really helps out your score.
got to say i just played a few drop zones with recon and blast shield on and OMFG after 2 games both had pro unlocked so this defo helps and works with these to features on lol
Yea buddy!! This is what I'm talking about!!! It really does work well and if you like to use either of these perks (RECON or BLAST SHIELD) it is such an easy way to get them PRO. Keep it going, for me it works best after I have just prestiged though.
ihave never played drop zone is it that fun and what is the main objective .
There is a certain area of the map where there will be care packages being dropped, the "drop zone". If you or your team are holding the drop zone than you and your team will be receiving the care packages and points. The whole objective of the game is to hold the drop zone.
Every minute the drop zone changes so it's not like the enemy can hold it forever if they have a good lock on it. If I know I won't be able to go back and take away the drop zone from the enemy, I will start running towards where I know the other drop zone will be that way when it changes I am already there and receiving a care package.
It is not my favorite game mode by any means but when ever I prestige I am back at it so that I can level up quickly.
i used drop zone to complete recon, and the hail of flame for using a noob to get it done faster
i start to fap ![]()
Cool I'll have to give this a shot, sounds easy enough. I hit 1st on the Xbox then made the switch to the PS3 to play with a few buddies that are always on so I had to start over lol... /meh.
But I will do this for sure, I like getting a quick jump when starting off. Thanks for the post ![]()
Also, DZ is a fun mode but can drive you nuts when people don't play it right (as with any objective based game). Make sure to use your trophy system, you can get unlocks like crazy while protecting your DZ.
True that! BUT, if you are trying to do my method you should NOT use the trophy system as it will stop you from leveling up your blast shield. But at this point in the game you would not have the trophy system unless you used a prestige token on it.
If you are going trying to max out the trophy system, then yes, this game mode is definitely a good one. Personally, I prefer DOM if I am going to max it out but I've already got the title for doing that and haven't since used it.
I always play drop zone straight away to get recon pro and start leveling up my shotguns.
Throw BLAST SHIELD on there too! Yes, I know, it's not the best second perk available right away, I would rather be using QUICKDRAW too but the points you get off it are incredible. I am serious when I say you can have it PRO by the end of 2 rounds in drop zone and you can have it maxed out within 4-6 good rounds.
i find it useful to play infected so that im nt at a disadvantage compared to anyone else. also im good with TKnives so i find myself usually infecting 4-5 people and getting around 2K XP, not to mention the amount of kills i get before getting infected.
I've never played infected and the thing that keeps me away from it is all the stories about the split screen boosters. I don't think it is a game mode I would fully enjoy anyway. But you make some good points. Anyone else use this method???
I tend to level up all the guns that are unlocked at level 4, so that they are close to 1000 kills so that i can get 10000xp and this moves me up a fair few levels
I usually just select the G36c default class and tough out a few bad games of TDM until create a class is unlocked.
![]()
yeah grenaider i belive is the name of that class.
One thing I try to do (obviously you cannot do it every prestige) is pay attention to your gun challenges.
On my last prestige I go the UMP and the FMGs to 1 kill away from a 10K bonuses. As soon as I hit level 4 - POW - I skyrocketed to level 10 and beyond, and got the FMG up to a decent level... with 1 kill!
edit: I just scrolled up and say TheSandman does the same thing
Still those are good strategies.
