Hi Pros,
Can anyone advise me on why PINGTEST.NET is returning under 50ms pings for me every time I test, but for the last week I have been getting fobbed off with 75, 100, 125, and 150ms games...
Gettin a bit bored of the hitmarkers now...
PLEASE give me a quick fix someone...
BTW My Internet is as good as is possibly available at my home (In the countryside) 40ms ping and 7MBPs...
Also, I've been OK up until this last week getting <50ms matches...
If you are doing a PingTest, don't choose the "local server". Because testing your ping to a server <50mi away is pointless. You are never going to play in a lobby full of people that are only 50 miles away or less.
Choose a server that is across the country. That is a better representation of what your real ping is.
There is no quick fix. The game is getting worse and worse the longer it has been out. Nothing you can do on your end.
Thanks for the advice, I tried Luxembourg <50, then Nurembourg came back at 50...
Every game I get in I'm struggling now...
I'm in the West Midlands of England BTW...
ping is not a constant number, it is just a measure of the round trip time (in miliseconds) of sending a packet from you to a server and back.
its absolutely pointless doing a pingtest for anything game related as the number it produces is pointless and only applies to the device you pinged from in this case your pc.. the only useful data it can give you is the amount of jitter on long distance pings and whether you get much packet loss, but again these are pretty pointless when it comes to games as games use udp packets not tcp/ip which pingtests measure.
you arent actually being put into 75-100-125 games the way match making works is each step it just broadens the range of pings to search
so it goes 0-50 then 0-100 then 0-125 ect so just because search is saying its now looking for 125ms games means you could be placed in anything from 0-125ms lobbies.
I live in a mid-sized city and very rarely get 50ms games usually 75ms to 100. It doesn't really have anything to do with your ping, more to do with how close other players are to you.
Is there any relevant test I can do to see if it is my end?

I live in dallas and have verizon vios the mid range internet not the worst but not the best and everytime i play the only matches i get in are or well it says 75. And i have it wired not running wireless, have theater turned off? Any suggestions for me? Thanks in advanced
Might have something to do with the fact that when it scans for games it starts finding acceptable games under 50 ping (i.e. 15/50), then the number of games found automatically jumps back to 0 before its done searching.
Matchmaking is just garbage.
your lucky .. i have a ping of 3
in a 75 ping game i can empty a mag into somones back
and they can still turn round and kill me ![]()
I don't feel "Lucky" LOL...
I'm still returning ok test results all under 50ms but I haven't been getting into any 50 ping games for a couple of weeks now...
