Do hardwired devices connected to your modem take priority over wireless devices?

Just what it says.
I have my modem next to my PS in my basement so I can stay hardwired to it. I just bought my wife a directv cinema kit to connect my DVR to the modem wireless so she can watch whatever she wants. (hoping more game time for daddy haaaa). From what I have read it seems like the cinema kit stays connected to the wifi all of the time so it can update and download whatever it needs to.
I am just wondering if this is going to screw my connection up while I am playing or if my PS (being hardwired open NAT etc.) will take priority and use what it needs first before sharing with the other devices. She also has a kindle which as of now hasnt hurt me but if she gets on the lap top while I am on the PS it really sucks and my game lags like a mother effer. I know the myth is that dumbing down your connectionn helps but for me it really sucks and puts me behind everyone.
Anyway thanks for the info fellers.
And no I cant afford a seperate internet connection for my PS. Wish I could but meh.
I think this is all going to depend on the equipment you're using, does you're router have options to change 'QOS' settings?
ya I think so. I have seen that somewhere while doing my porting n stuff
It shouldn't screw up the connection as the WIFI will only use bandwidth when it is downloading some thing. I have stuff like my lappy and phone connected to the wifi when playing and it does not affect the connection.
Routers designate a certain amount for hardwire connections. Kind of like partitioning space. Wireless devices can only recieve so much internet wirelessly. So basically the best connection you can recieve is a hardwire connection
no......chuck norris only takes priority over wireless devices.
man I've heard a lot of good things about the dlink and that's got to be the only router that has gaming take priority right? I've been looking around for a new router after buying an xbox a couple weeks ago and i found this site http://www.squidoo.com/wireless-gaming-router and I'm considering the net gear ac 1780 (I think tht's what it is) but I've heard their tech support sucks and I've had a belkin so I know I'm not getting another one of those. Anyways any suggestions or advice besides get the dlink would be great? Thanks.
