Wii U pricing

Sorta kinda off topic but we've got to play the next COD on something, right? Anyway, here's the the first hint of the proposed price of the Wii U -
So if the price matches that's around £190 for us Brits.
Sounds good to me if it's true. Thoughts?
£190 seems reasonable given the wii was what, £140 at release? Maybe its not all that? Mind you, Nintendo know, unlike PS ,theyre gona sell millions of these things, and the more you sell the cheaper you can sell them for. Nintendo prices have always been ok.
Or maybe its just not all its cracked up to be ?
It's about the same price as the Wii was (£180) at release, that's definitely not a coincidence using a similar price after the numbers they sold. After the eff up Sony made of the PS3 pricing originally and the hole Nintendo dug themselves with the 3DS it's probably suicide to price a games system any higher at the moment. At that price they'll get the Wii Fit crowd to upgrade as well as the likes of us, add in some bored Xbox/PS3 owners and we could have a runner here.
If it'll play Gamecube games I'll buy it.
Afraid not, just your Wii Games.
Poo.
Guess a Wii is my only hope for playing Super Mario Sunshine again?
You never know, they might add Gamecube games to the new Nintendo online. We can dream.
So if the price matches that's around £190 for us Brits.
We never get a good deal close to the exchange rate, it'll more likely be £229 - £249 or thereabouts, if $299 is accurate.
I'm fine with that, to be honest I was expecting around £350.
only $299? Thats awesome! I figured it'd be near 400 or more because of that fancy controller tablet thing... I sure hope that's accurate! ![]()
On a related note the Wii U will be featuring an AMD Radeon GPU and AMD is the same brand that Nintendo worked with for the Wii's graphics, just look on your wii's side for ATI.
...and that means? ![]()
It means expect some killer graphics, AMD is the better of the two major GPU manufacturers: AMD>Nvidia(the other one) unless you count Intel then it is Intel<Nvidia<AMD.
Woohoo, the WiiU better be awesome after all of this ![]()
It is supposed to support 1080p gameplay which is the best out there right now, if you wanted that kind of power for a desktop or a laptop you would have to spend lots of money, it also depends on the game's graphics, it can be 1080p but it may not be good just look at COD vs Battlefield, COD has 1080p support on the PC but when it comes to the quality of graphics Battlefield wins, but the downside is that the game becomes very demanding on the CPU(central processing unit).
Wow, i cant wait i hoped that it wasnt to much, im not earning that much money with working a game shop playing cod with customers! ![]()
I seriously didn't understand what you just said. ![]()
Basically, the better the quality in terms of graphics and the game engine, the more powerful the CPU needs to be and Battlefield is more demanding than Call of Duty, Call of Duty has a at least 10 year old engine while Battlefield's FrostBite engine is the newest out there.
Oh no, not you. I meant @silent ![]()
I think that he is saying that he is not making enough money to get the Wii U at the job he is currently working at.
That makes sense. Thanks for clearing it up.
You are totally right c4.. as usual ![]()
Thanks for the compliment Silent, I trust that you are doing well.
I am fine ty, long time! and how are you?
Quite well but I am still saving up for a new laptop and the Wii U.
"An unnamed source at Wii U Daily has told the publication that Wii U will retail for $299.99 when it arrives in North America"
Wii U Daily is a fan site for Wii U news, therefor this is unreliable. But that being said, $300 US does sound about right. Australia (getting horrible prices for things as usual) will probably get it for $400 - $500.
Nothing is official untill Nintendo announces the price which will happen at E3 by my guess. Even that is making an assumption which is a pointless practice that I despise doing. I'm gonna do it anyway though. They will announce the official price at E3. Any article up untill then (or whenever they announce it) relating to the Wii U price point should be considered unreliable.
I'll be passing up the Wii U as i will probably get a PS3 when they go on sale or if I were to buy a new system I would wait till all the new systems are out and go from there.
