What you propose is that the CM901 is useless at 750 RPM rather than useless at 666 RPM?
HITTING someone is an essential part in killing someone on long range, and rate of fire does not in any way help you kill anyone when the shots miss.
It will ONLY make the SMGs suffer more to the akimbo MPs because ANOTHER assault rifle class weapon enters the turf of fast rate of fire.
In the case of CM901, it will ONLY be effective on close range without recoil reduction.
It is a slow rate of fire battle rifle, like the Mk14.
It competes with Mk14, and right now I see absolutely no reason to even consider the CM901 over the M14, and that would not change if the CM901 gets 750 RPM.
It needs to compete with M14 and Type 95 for power and/or ACR, G36C and M4 for long range reliability and it couldn't be further away from either from it's current position as the worst rifle since M1 Garand in World at War.
It lacks ACCURACY or POWER.
It is too weak to not be accurate, and there are lots of weak accurate weapons.
It lacks the power to warrant it's current recoil, and with it's current recoil, it could be 50-35 and would still not be used at 666 RPM because of it's inadequacy on long range and bloody recoil compared to the Type 95 which fires FASTER, fires the first 9 rounds faster, and is accurate.- Report Abuse

Rate of fire? What? No need to change the RoF at all.
And the Mk14 needs a slight decrease in range by changing its minimum damage to 40.

Imagine that it gets upgraded to 666 RPM 49-30
What would that acchieve?
Would you consider using it over the M4 or ACR?
666 RPM, three hit kill up to 47 meters, but won't actually be able to three hit kill anyone reliably at ranges over 15 meters even in the open.
Versus
705 RPM, three hit kill up to 37 meters, and will actually kill prone enemies on 37 meters range in 3 shots fired.

Getting sick of people calling the MK14 OP. It's not. I've got a great trigger finger and relatively good aim yet it'sfar from my best performing weapon.

I told you what that would achieve, especially if they changed the ACR to 45-25 damage as well. Less headshots needed (meaning you don't have to be as accurate), much better range, and it would actually be useful in HC mode.
@derpityderp the MK14 just needs slightly less range because on most maps it's a 2HK in nearly all ranges but has very little recoil and sway.

It would acchieve the use of more SMGs, not the use of CM901, because the CM901 would still be useless, like a dragunov with a larger magazine still would be useless.
The CM901 does not need other weapons to be nerfed or marginally higher long range damage, it needs a complete overhaul unless it's going to deal 50-35 damage, something which I don't want it to do.
(You can't even reliably HIT people on 15 meters, so how would it be more useful when you have to burst fire, falling behind Type 95 and M14 in versatility?)
Low rate of fire + Insane recoil simply does not cut it.
M4: Moderate-high rate of fire + very low recoil + medium-low damage + medium-low range
ACR: Moderate-low rate of fire + low recoil + medium damage + medium-long rangeG36C: Moderate rate of fire + moderate-low recoil + medium damage + medium range
CM901: Low rate of fire + very high recoil + medium damage + long range
It simply does not work.
The problem lies in the synergy between range and recoil, which is completely off in the case of the CM901.
M4, ACR and G36C would STILL ALL be better than the CM901 if CM901 got an increase in long range damage even if all of those got reduced their long range damage.
Because they'll still HIT their targets on long range. The lack of powerful assault rifles, or battle rifles, is glaring.
Increasing CM901's long range capabilities by increasing long range damage 35, AND reducing it's recoil to that of the Mk14 or AK47 WOULD help.
Then give it better bullet penetration, 85% runspeed and call it special. It is a heavy battle rifle after all.

Are you seriously sugesting that the ACR would suddenly never be used if they simply changed the long range damage to something that makes more sense with its accuracy. I'm just suggesting that a gun as accurate as the ACR require 3 headshots to be a 3HK at range. It wouldn't get outclassed by the M4 ad SCAR because it would be a 4HK at range and the G36C wouldn't outclass it because that gun has much worse sights and much more recoil.
Meanwhile the CM901 and AK47 are much less accurate, so they should require LESS headshots to kill in 3 hits at range. The M4 and SCAR would be more accurate but would usually be a 5HK whereas with the CM901/AK47 you would get a 3HK at long as you got 1 headshot and otherwise would still have much better 3HK range. Plus the range at which you only need 1 headshot for a 2HK would be much better for the CM901/AK47.
The only guns that should be 3HKs at range are the M60 and Mk14 and the only weapons that should kill in 2 hits close range are the M60, Mk14, and snipers. 50-35 would make it too powerful in comparison to LMGs. And before you suggest it, no the solution to that isn't to make the LMGs all 2-3HKs. Only LMG that should be a 2-3HK is the M60.
But you go ahead and suggest your over-complicated buff for one gun while I suggest that literally only one number each be changed for the ACR, AK47, Mk14, CM901.

Why 49-30 instead of 50-25? This would make the CM901 and AK really nasty in close range, similar to the Type 95, but at longer ranges, it is outclassed by the ACR simply because of it's superior accuracy and minimum damage. This way, the CM901 can keep its recoil because it would be a shorter range AR anyways. No point trying to give it a range advantage.
That's my opinion anyways.

Sleeping on it, I think CM901 should have slightly more predictable (but still massive) recoil (reduce min recoil from -40 to -20 for less randomness) and give it just a slightly faster recovery), giving it a G36-like recoil pattern, only not nearly as accurate.
Then give it 49-35 damage, and let it be a long range battle-rifle to compete with the very, very lonely Mk14.
That is three values changed.
-40 changed to -20 for the kick view pitch, for less random recoil.
25 minimum base damage changed to 35
Centerspeed changed from 1450 to 1500, keeping the most of the visual recoil but reducing the actual recoil slightly.Mk 14 two hit kills on short range, and kills in one headshot and one hit anywhere on long range -- while the CM901 won't kill on two headshots.
Mk14 has much less recoil and is savage on short range.
If they ever make the Dragunov one hit kill to the chest without a silencer, diversity would be acchieved for battle-rifle users.
