Accepted a friends request from a guy that is a reformed cheater....

A few days ago I was playing and got to talking to a guy and his GF who are local to my city. He sent my a FR and I accepted.
Played a few rounds then went on my merry way. Sent me a party invite last night and decided to play him.
Went to take a smoke break and do some class changes because he just prestiged a few rounds before our break.
So we are in the Party Lobby and he asked if I ever did the Prestige Token Glitch. I said HELL NO. I have been playing COD since MW2 and I never have cheated, never will, even just to try it once. So he proceeds to tell me that he, and his buddies, did the glitch.
His statement was humorous. Said he wasn't trying to abuse it and ONLY did it enough times to get like 7 days of 2XP, open up all weapons, and have 10 classes. That isn't abusing it? LOL
Anyway, said he got banned for 24 hours, stats/ rank reset, something like negative 197 tokens, prestige shop locked (forever), but no negative XP. The thing that got me the most was he did not have to give up all the "unlocks". Got to keep all the guns, all the classes, EVERYTHING that he unlocked.
He was super resentful of doing it. Said he deserved what he got and was happy they didn't ban his console.
I believe the guy is sorry, but what gets me is that he got to keep what he did. If he was a better player, he could use all of that arsenal to really screw up the gameplay of others if he wanted to.
So what you are saying I should have just made my second acct and unlocked everything with no penalty.
Sounds like it.
So the process of banning/ resetting is still flawed.
Half way through our (my) final round last night a buddy of his joined our match. He immediately told him of his (good?) fortune. Evidently that buddy had done the same thing but was scared to prestige again in fear that he would lose all his unlocks too. When the match ended they were going to party up and discuss it further.
Crazy....
He doesn't sound reformed to me.
So to be reformed, in your mind, would you rather him just quit playing entirely?
Just a question, not being defensive or offensive....

You have to take him for his word. My friend did it and regrets it. We don't let him live it down though. He lost 48 hours and everything he had. 1000 losses to start back up and 10000 deaths. He would be 10th prestige by now so I rub that in his face a little too. I can guarantee if he ever cheats again, he won't be playing with our group of guys, and he knows that.
Agreed. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Everyone makes mistakes.
I just don't know how the heck they let him keep all the unlocks!
That is strange. This friend was on Xbox and it was right when they started banning people. Maybe they've toned it back a little. He did get his original double xp back (maybe some dew xp too), but that's all. No titles or anything if I remember correctly. To be honest, I would be fine if they perma-banned people for this. There would be some initial roadside casualties, but once the word got out I think people would stop.
Exactly, you have to make an example for others to follow.
Might be also that something was not done correctly in his reset process? I know for a fact that he was not lying about his guns/ unlocks because I watched his cam and saw what he was holding when we started off the rounds. FAD, ACR, Type 95, AK47. Being that he just prestiged he could in no way have all those unlocked unless what he stated about him being caught cheating was true.
I'm not tyring to offend, or judge.
But IMO for a person to reform they need to stay away from the activity.
Has a bank robber reformed if he deosn't do the robbing but tells others of his success and tell them how.
Understood, but he didn't tell me "how to" nor was he saying he was going to continue to cheat. Just was seeking some counseling, if you will. He wasn't exstatic about any of it. He was just as surprised as I was. Maybe my context of his portrayal was misconstrued in my typing it.
He should have been banned permantly ..
Man, if you glitch, boom, you can kiss that gamertag and access goodbye.
Him being reformed is like Jeffrey Dahmner asking for a chicken wing.
AIN'T NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!
cheaters gonna cheat
Oh, I definitely agree about his (anyone who cheats) PSN ID being banned. But I think that we all know that PS would not go the lengths of having all the consoles banned of cheaters. Too much money involved with that. They would lose out the a$$. I would just make it where the specific game they cheated on could not play in their console. A partial PSN ID ban, if you will.....
