This is what happens to hit detection when lag compensation is altered.

Ran into that bullshit yesterday evening, and coincidentally...it was on domination as well. Unloaded a clip of PP90 rounds in an enemys back, not one hit marker. He didn't even know I was behind him, even after I ran out of bullets and had to re-load. He turns around, says hello, 2 shots later I was dead. WTF is going on with this game?
Yeah, I've had this happen several times with different weapons...whether it be full auto weapons, sniping, or shotguns (pump or semi)...even when point-blank with a shotgun...nothing...

Unfortunately this is what happens when IW listens to the ignorant masses and removes a necessary feature in lag compensation. With a better lag comp system, I would've at least gotten a hit marker, albiet a split second after I shot.

What feature did they remove? They didn't remove lag comp, they tweaked a value. Obviously the value they changed was wrong, instead of going from a value of 4 and changing it to 5 they changed it to 3 and made things worse.

Call it poetic license. I think it's fairly clear from the title that I'm aware that lag comp hasn't actually been completely removed.

I was going on just that post and coming from you I was kind of surprised at that comment. That is why I asked what I asked.

Haha why thank you. I'm so used to being called an idiot or a troll that I'm almost not sure what to do with a compliment anymore.
There are a few things that some of the few don't see eye to eye on but that does not discredit anyone one of us. maccabi, you, BigB (use to have good info, have not seen him much lately) and a few others but usually we are pretty constructive.
My beef is that if lag comp bites a class of users, it should disadvantage the users with slower pings. It seems natural that IW would want to incentivize players to improve their connectivity, not meter it out.

That's not what lag comp does though man. People don't ever have their connections throttled by the game.
I guess I'm mistaken? I thought it had been the overriding experience of the people on this forum that the better their connection, the more likely they were to pull host, the more likely that the lag compensation favored the players with slower connections.
Lag comp doesn't throttle your connection, it tries to "equal out" what everyone sees from one vantage point. It tries to make everyone on the same page when in fact you may be on page 3 when I am on page 4 and so on.
What the problem is, or at least the perception of the problem, people with slower connections seem to get a benefit from the current setup of their lag compensation. In the past the host had a slight advantage, he would see player A at a point in the map and be able to shoot them first and get the kill. Now it seems to be the opposite. The system has adjusted where Player A is but now the host doesn't see them there yet. Player A gets the kill.
What kills me is that I see people skipping around the screen but yet I have 4 bars and they have 4 bars. If we both have that good of connections to the host I shouldn't see any skipping! Their tolerances are way off, this has been an issue since MW2 and they have not adjusted.
I think there's a disconnect on what I meant because this "throttle" comment keeps popping up.

What I mean is that IW's current setup does not incentivize players to try and optimize their networking settings, via purchasing better internet, port forwarding, not bit-torrenting HD movies as they play, etc. Instead, IW's current setup incentivizes players to meter their own network, via their own actions in order to not pull host. This leads to a degraded gameplay experience for everyone else in the lobby.

This has been happening from day one- no single patch fixed it.
Made worse- maybe.
Hit detection has never been this bad against 3 bar players, maybe in blops for a while (over the top lag comp, I think so), also a lot more ppl are skipping frames & lagging making them harder to hit / kill, while you still die instantly yourself. So fair.
I've noticed the skipping frames actually. When people first talked about it in the beginning I wasn't really sure what they were talking about. But over the last few weeks I've noticed brief cases of extreme lag and this skipping of frames people have mentioned

IW decided to go with ultra realism. Bullet misfires and all.
Atleast the spawning system works. Who needs a deathstreak when spawn right behind the person that just killed you no matter what game mode. Good times!!!!

That's part of the reason why I barely ever snipe in this game, that and I'm not as fast as I was last year. (Duh I nearly never snipe / scope anymore, but then again it's piss easy in this game).

how so? you would still have lag, and without lag comp especially on a dedicated server there would be a heriarchy of players who did well based on who had the lowest ping to the server.

I've stopped trying to explain what exactly it is that lag comp does. It's clear that most of the community at this point have their perception of what it is from listening to the onmiscient YT commentators and that at this point they won't listen to reason. I don't understand how someone who has any sort of understanding of what lag comp does can actually dislike it.
I think one important thing to note is that lag compensation, when it's working, is a useful feature. But as your video demonstrates, lag compensation that doesn't work is probably just as bad as a game without any lag compensation.
I really hope that IW says a big "F*CK YOU" to the community and takes lag compensation out of the game. All these people crying about it now will realize how necessary it is.

Theres times where I'm shooting a guy point blank in the face and get nothing, and then theres times where I'm shooting clearly behind a moving target and still getting hit markers. I agree that you cant tweak lag compensation, it messes everything else up. However, for the sake of silencing whiny *******, I really hope they remove lag compensation next patch simply to prove a point to these idiots that it needs to be there.
I think your missing the fact that people are getting very frustrated with this game, listening to you constantly pull the IW fan boy crap makes things worse. Fact is this game is horrible online and people either accept this or they don't. I truely don't think it can be fixed and just wish IW had the balls to admit it. That would ofcourse affect sales of DLC so I doubt we will ever get the truth, but rather more 21mb patches that do nothing.
I don't think it's "IW fan boy crap" to try to explain to people how lag compensation works and why it's necessary. Whether or not it works as intended is another story.

whilst i agree i would love to see lag comp turned off just to show people how unplayable the game wuld be would be a fun filled lulzafest..
you can "tweak" lag comp and quite easily, the problem is knowing what to tweak and by what amount as a change that improves one group can easilty make things alot worse for another.
Why can't they just make it run like mw2 that was so smooth.
