Annoyed at quickscopers being the do-all-ranges class...

The title implies it all. With the auto-aim in MW3 aiding quickscopers so much, it really, really makes people who do legitimate hardscoping angry. No one should care if a sniper camps. He must reload at some time or another, and it makes them predictably found in X, Y, or Z location.

I don't think I am the only dead tired of quickscoping, what do persons out there think?

Please post a video of you quickscoping.  After weeks of practice I can generally go positive now doing it.  This is after investing quite a few hours of going repeatedly negative trying to learn to do it properly.

It's NOT easy.  Auto-aim does NOT help you as much as you think.  Think about the nature of the community.  Everyone uses the most overpowered thing possible so as not to be at a disadvantage.  If quickscoping was as easy as people seem to think it is, then why isn't everyone doing it?

I'm tired of quickscoping as well.  The reason why, is because it upsets the balance of the sniper rifles, which were supposed to be long range weapons, while having a close range "disadvantage".

I don't care how much skill or practice is required to perform quickscoping.  It's still not balanced.  Treyarch understood sniper balance.

Black Ops sniping was crap. You could take your time and wait for the ridiculous sway to end, perfectly line up your shot and it was as if the bullet passed straight through the enemy. They must have patched sniping 15 times in that game.... and you say they "understood" sniper balance? Making snipers crap is not balance - it's crap

At least in Black Ops, you could get a one shot kill, in the head, with a suppressor, using ANY sniper rifle.  In MW3, 2 snipers don't have that ability, while using a suppressor--Dragunov & RSASS.

But I can admit the snipers were never really that powerful, especially considering torso shots don't kill in one shot most of the time.

But as I mentioned before, Sniper balance, besides the damage they deal, is to make it disadvantageous at close range.  Bigger maps make "proper" sniping possible, which is why I liked Treyarch's map design better.

BO sniping was not crap if you had a hard time sniping in BO you are a crap sniper plain and simple.

All the patches for snipers in that game was to make it easier again, so the QS'ers that cried about it being too hard and would not play the game would come back. 3arc caved to the community of QSers and never should have. The fist patch for snipers in that game made them as they should have always been in the series. Good at range, terrrible at close and that is how they always should be.

TrialStarDipshit talking out of his ass again, congrats!

BO launch sniping was pathetic. Cant believe morons still flaunt the" QS WAS TOO HARD" card. It was IMPOSSIBLE. No, not "so hard that Im gonna call it impossible", but literally with the game mechanics as they were, NOT possible.

That is how it should have been always in this series. It never should have been possible to sue the snipers that way ever in the game. Then there never would have been problems with QS in the first place.

It was not impossible at all, Hell I could do it at launch. Hell the snipers worked perfectly fine for me at launch just all the QS crybabies didnt like their favorite way to abuse the sniper was patched so cried about it all the damn time until 3arc caved.

Anyone that cried about the snipers on BO just sucked at using them as they were meant to be used. Those of that knew how to use a sniper had no problems using them and getting kills and going positive with them.

Okay, even though I will admit to quick scoping from time to time I can agree to this. I think if they were to go back to the CoD4 quickscope style that would be the best. I mean its a gun to shoot people. Even marksmen I can imagine would have their rifle drawn when moving through buildings rather than a secondary. You should be at least capable of getting a CQB kill. In this sense I think the scope speed gave you a fighting chance to survive if you were caught off guard. In blops you were completely screwed because you had to scope in and then wait a second meaning your best chance was to spray and pray.

MW2 & MW3 sniping is really sloppy. By that I mean it has ridiculous hit detection. There have been a lot of times where even at range I'll fire a shot that I KNOW was a miss and still somehow get the kill and other times I KNOW I hit and get a miss. At least in blops when I pointed and aimed rather than panic scope (because that can be what it is at times) the hit detection seemed, to me at least, to be exceptionally consistant.

As for this game, I feel like you almost have to have quickscoping because of the few and obvious sniping locations on the maps. Anywhere on the map where you can pull the maximum range for a sniper, you can also get killed fairly easily by someone who can aim with an AR. On top of that, everyone knows the 2-3 sniper spot in the maps. In blops on the other hand, there were some REALLY long shot zones where a sniper is going to more often than not take out an AR user. Better than that, you could take a shot, displace and then shoot the same target from a different angle.

        In short,

Blops = Maps that accomodate precision sniping

        MW3 = Quickscope or die.

That right there is the very definition of balance. MW3 QS is just far too easy/luck based.

I dont know about you people, but blops sniping was PERFECT for me.  On havana or discovery or array I could easily pull kds of 10-0 or 20-1 if I wanted.  The bullets were fine, there was no superquick ADS bullshit and it was genuinely fun to be able to run around the sniper friendly maps and pick people off.

What you guys who say "why doesnt everyone do it if its easy?":

No, its not easy, at least for me.  Its supereasy for some, not for others, but if you do it at some point you will 1hit kill someone at shotgun range.  QS may be uncommon, but THAT DOESNT MEAN IT ISNT BS.  So what if you only get a qs or noscope once every 5 lives?  It relies on a lot of luck to get a qs kill, and if someone worked hard to kill you the first 4 times, you can just use random luck to qs him?  Random deranks are bs too, doesnt matter how often they happen.

Sniping was perfect in Call of Duty: World at War (then again, everything was perfect in Call of Duty: World at War, aside from the lack of Support and deathstreaks that encourage tryhards).  The hit detection wasn't crap like in Black Ops and there were a lot of long sight lines.

With that said, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a game that emphasizes close-range combat over long-range, as that close-range combat is more equal and there are less skilled tryhards/clans that can spot people two miles away without Marksman in spite of the horrible IW2.5 graphics engine that blends people in long range way too easily (why I HATE LIBERATION).

In short, quickscope or die is pretty much the only way IW can make snipers require as little skill as possible so EVERYONE, not just the tryhards, can have fun.

This thread is retarded. How come submachine guns arent a do-all-ranges class? They dominate at close range yes, but they can still shoot accross the largest maps and get kills. Sure its tough to do, but its just as tough for a sniper to pull of  a quickscope at close range.

Snipers are always at a disadvantage at close range, no matter what weapon they are facing. SMGs are always at a disadvantage at long range no matter what weapon they're facing (hold shotguns for obvious reasons), so why do snipers get flak and hatred for being capable at all ranges, yet SMGs dont? Both of these gun classes struggles with a certain range and excells at another range.

Arguments and threads like this are just ignorant. People get butthurt because a sniper picked them off at close range. I get long range kills with SMGs all the time and no one complains about that. Clearly if sniping at close range bothers you then so should smgs at long range. Thats just logic.

I don't know anyone with RL experience using sniper rifles, but I can't imagine an accomplished sniper being unable to point the barrel of his rifle at your head from six feet of distance and blow your brains out, might be tough for a civilian but someone who is trained to know every inch of that weapon inside and out?

since most sniper rifles are 4 feet long and longer, if someone is 3 feet away, snipers should lose every single time.
