AWESOME guide to the MP5!

Hello and welcome =) For my fourth weapon guide, I decided to feature the MP5 due to popular demand. In the video below, I cover many things relating to this weapon and test several features such as the usefulness of attachments, proficiencies and damage over range. On paper, it is not as powerful as most of the other SMGs. However, with the right class, the right approach and the right playstyle, it can yield great results!
I can summarise with 3 main tips for success with this weapon:
1) I won't lie; the MP5 poses a greater challenge than most of the weapons in the game. However, I have had great fun running around with it, and attaining high scores has quite satisfying. It has forced me to adapt and to develop my gun skills + my situational awareness. These are transferable skills that have helped me attain higher scores overall with other weapons. In other words, when you challenge yourself with difficult weapons, your in-game ability can improve, so when you revert to weapons that are easier to use, you may find yourself attaining greater success than before.
2) Due to this weapon's low RoF, you may be disadvantaged in CQC against other SMGs, such as the PP90 and the MP7. In order to compensate for this, I'd recommend taking measures to increase your chances of getting the first shot on your opponent. There are several ways to do this:
~ By using Quickdraw/Steady Aim pro
~ By pre-firing around corners
~ By firing from the hip before ADSing in CQC
3) The MP5 is great for aggressive rushing, as it has low reload, raise and drop times. This will allow you to run around, killing enemies swiftly, reloading with speed and then moving on to the next target. Try to stick to CQC, as this weapon's recoil will prevent you from getting mid-range kills with any sort of ease. I'd suggest carrying a secondary weapon on which you can rely to take care of your mid-long range engagements, such as the MP9 with Extended Mags.
What are your tips for success with this weapon? ![]()
To keep it holstered. Interesting thread though. Laid out well thank you.
Thanks ![]()
i see a problem with the MP5 already.
you suggested we run with an MP9 for longer engangements.
now tell me.
how the hell does that make sense when developing a game?
Lol, I suppose it doesn't, really.
Be that as it may, the MP9 is very good at mid-long ranges, and a perfect choice for any MP5 class, IMO, unless you stick to the weapon's effective range. Together, you have a weapon that is good up close, and one that is good at range, a nice combo ![]()
i golded the MP5 the first week this game came out...
and your absolutely correct on most everything about this gun
its outclassed in everyway possible..
sucks i had plans on ruining everything and everyone with this gun...i missed it from the COD4 days
I agree, this was my favourite gun on CoD4, but it is simply out-classed by most of the SMGs in the game. I'd much rather use a PP90/MP7 when aiming for a high score or when facing tough opponents. Any kill I get with the MP5 could have been attained more easily with the PP90/MP7/P90. I only use the MP5 when I want to be challenged or when I want to use something different for a change.
It's a shame :/ However, for people who want to use it, there are things they can do to improve their chances of success, as mentioned in the guide.
Awesome! Another weapon guide. I love these. Keep em coming
Thanks, man ![]()
I was thinking of doing an LMG next, as I have been having great fun and great success with the MK46. Then I think I'll do the CM901 or whatever it is called. But I also want to do some other guides. I was thinking of doing a video with some tips on how to capture and defend the B flag effectively on domination, or maybe some general tips for other game modes, like Drop Zone. Or perhaps pointstreaks. I dunno, what do you think, man?
CM901 would be great. For some reason I have so much trouble with this gun, for me its only mediocre. It would be nice to have a great guide for it.
As far as the game modes guides, DO IT! Im sure a bunch of people here would benefit from it. There's always someone who posts a thread looking for tips to get better.
this gun requires something COD is not known for
patience
you cannot run into a room and plan to clear it with this gun
kick with a red dot will easily dominate most AR battles....its a very strong AR...personally one of my favorites because no one uses it
i run attachments with the RD and silencer
its a medium engagement weapon with a good hip spread
dont expect to win many long range engagements from it tho...as its simply outclassed
Ok my friend, I will do these things ![]()
I was always more of a guy who used snipers to other weapons and I was (still am) a good shot, but the MP5 was the only automatic weapon I really liked so I practiced using it. Now when I'm not sniping across the map, I'm sneaking up behind you and decimating your team from behind worse then a butt pirate. ![]()
I'm glad you are having success with it! It is satisfying to use, yes?
Definitely! MP5 is my favorite automatic weapon, and I really like the guide it's very helpful you can never have to many tips even a for CoD pro
. I was sad they changed it from the CoD4:MW version but still in love with this weapon.
RF plus Kick Prof. plus Quickdraw equals PP90.
lol its funny you say this
so the MP5 with add-ons equals the pp90 in base mode
since no one runs pp90 in the base mode...
The MP5 is not the PP90...at all...
don't make something out to be its not.
i'm not being a jerk just stating facts

PP90's RPM is around 1000 without RF.
MP5's RPM is 733 without RF. The RPM is around 1000 with RF.
Both kill in three rounds.
MP5 with Kick levels the recoil to the PP90.
I am not being a jerk either, just stating tru fax.
I think the guy is implying that nobody uses a naked PP90, so why use the MP5 fully customized. Just a guess.

You have to use a naked PP90 when you first unlock it, plus, even if you had the chance to have an attachment on a PP90, the vanilla PP90 will still be somewhat identical to the MP5 setup.
this!!
Excellent as always please please SCAR next El Matador!
Thank you, my friend ![]()
And don't worry, the Scar-L is very high on my list!
Top notch look forward to this review.
I'll try not to disappoint ![]()
If there is anything extra you want me to include in the guide, please say so.
Trove love to see effect of suppressor on Range, effect of Proficiencies like kick and focus for example.
Oh ok, will do.
It's a good suggestion to show the effect of other proficinecies, like Focus.
Thx my friend await your next vid;)
Nice guide. The MP5 is an acquired taste, one that I lost desire for about two prestiges ago, but have since started to develope again. I like the slower ROF, for me it seems a bit easier to control when dealing with multiple enemies, but man once your opponents either go the shotgun route or start using Rapid fire SMGs, the gun just doesn't stand a chance.
Thank you ![]()
I agree, it is something of an acquired taste. And yeah, opponents wielding those weapons will be tough to beat, so you have to out-play/out-think them to win gun fights!
Any plans for an fmg guide?

Nah, the video would be too short.
All he has to say is 'Use Akimbo. Thanks for watching!' and there you go.
^ This, pretty much! Not every weapon requires a guide.
loved this...
god i hate the FMG's
Exquisite summary my friend....I dislike FMG also....don't begrudge those who use them but feel they are extremely cheap and have made a personal decision on to use them.....
Yeah, I don't begrudge them either. It is not only used by noobs...a lot of good players use them not because they are unskilled, but because it makes their task in CQC that little bit easier. Fair enough people, if you want to use them, use them. Just know that drop-shotting is a very effective tactic against unskilled FMG users because they can't ajust their aim fast enough! It might not work so well on skilled FMG users.
The mp5 is great for strafing while firing. Seems to be better than the other smg's at this particular tactic.
Yes, strafing with it helps a lot.
